[attr="class","illeana i"]she steps away from the frolicking horses to approach one jayden cross. he looks kind of... peaceful observing the horses play. it brings a soft smile to her face.

"hey," she murmurs, drawing his attention away from the paddock. "having fun?"

or well, as much fun as they could have watching instead of riding, anyway.

her head turns to follow her galarian ponyta, sana, as the little pony runs after another pony. this one is of the normal variety, with a fiery mane and pale coat. funnily enough, the regular ponytas native to the kanto region don't seem to have the flame body ability other fire types have. is it a recessive trait, this ability, or is it simply denoted to specific species? she'll have to look a little further into such a thing...

for now, she stands patiently next to her childhood friend even as MATIAS SILPH takes a photo or whatever the hell he was doing. she preferred to not pay much attention to him but it's still amusing, somehow.

little did illeana know, peaceful was the last thought on the young ceo's mind. if he hadn't come to the event under his alter-ego, perhaps things would be different. being so close to MATIAS SILPH, and being forced to watch him make niceties with the reporters, while Chu-e Choi lay underneath the earth, his life stripped from him.

[break][break] it was excruciating.

[break][break] meanwhile, his newly-caught ponyta from the safari zone gallops eagerly among the other participants of the festival as they're led around the yard. many children clamber up to the pokemon, as it's blue flames gleam even moreso with the power of it's flame body.

[break][break] "ah." he blinks, turning. "illeana." his face smooths over as he greets his family friend, then his head tilts at her question. "fun? perhaps."

[break][break] he glances briefly once more at MATIAS SILPH, before tearing his gaze away.

a breeze picks up as the horses continue playing with the children. and as she turns her full attention toward jayden, she has to raise a hand to keep hair out of her face.

it leaves her slightly slow to the question.

she blinks before her lips part, cogs slowly churning into an answer. "not really." a shame, perhaps, but she's not used to horse riding weather. the mountains and forests of snowpoint don't allow for much of, well, anything.

"it is what it is," he says with a shrug. he considers this event one of many that will be necessary in order to establish a social presence in hoenn. though the company has yet to get off it's feet, the board seems to be of the impression that events like this are necessary to start the groundwork.

[break][break] the wind feels cool on his skin as he looks onward, just as his ponyta gallops towards another pair of children. it seems to bask in the limelight, which jayden can't exactly relate to. in fact, much of the time, he feels the opposite.

[attr="class","illeana i"]cheeks puff slightly as if she's displeased by his answer. and her mouth opens to utter a rebuttal yet nothing comes out. instead, she presses her lips together once more.

it's, perhaps, not a good idea to shake some fun into him. they might know each other through family ties but they don't actually know each other well enough for her to rattle enjoyment in.

besides, if it's not his cup of tea then that's his business, not hers.

"perhaps," is all she settles on. of course, it's paired with a smile that suggests she's amused.

the neighs of the playing horses rise in volume and for a moment, her head turns to watch them. they're so free, with not a single care in the world. she wonders if it's a nice feeling, if it's as freeing as it looks.

perhaps it is. and maybe, eventually, she'll find out for herself.

"are you interested in horseback riding?" it's soft, curious, probing.

her cheeks puff out cutely, as if there is something she wants to say but doesn't. unfortunately, jayden doesn't know her well enough to pry, so he lets it be.

[break][break] perhaps.

[break][break] her words, mimicked back at him, surprisingly brings a ghost of a smile to his face. almost like an inside-joke.

[break][break] as the sounds of the horses rise in the distance, he turns his gaze towards them. jayden has never quite been a fan of horses — at least not in the way he chased ghost pokemon — but he was not against them either. his own father was a business man, and he knew his mother's heritage enough to know that she spent much of her childhood riding them.

[break][break] once or twice maybe, he had joined either Summer Atreides or knox prescott. it was simply the kind of thing you did, when you entertained company like them.

[break][break] a puff of air. "interested? no. capable? yes." the horses trample towards them, and this time the organization's staff gesture for them to mount. after all, what kind of a fundraiser would this be if they could not showcase their best? the pair of rapidash that are offered mimick jayden and illeana reyes's own ponyta, just big enough for the two to ride.
