So his men had come back with interesting information. Certain crystals popping up near cities by the League for some reason or another. And being the ever curious man he was he wanted to see if they couldn't nap it for study. He himself is no battler but it seemed logical for the time being to let this be solo. Dress with a hat to cover most his fair and a face mask to cover his looks as the Doctor comes to Littleroot in the middle of the night to investigate. [break][break]

Around him was a Rotom Drone that was investigating, taking pictures and seeing if it couldn't read any possible energy signals.

the machines were set on hidden away from the public view, far away from popularly traveled roads and common training areas for trainers. it's only indicative of bad news when his mightyena spots the presence of someone else.

the dark-type barks upon pryde entering a certain radius around the machine, housed in a rather inconspicuous tent in a camp designed to look like a regular ranger outpost. it is kyle's presence that makes the effort to make it discreet all void.

groaning, kyle pockets the phone he's been playing with and lets the mightyena guide him to the trespasser. without making himself noticeable until the last minute, kyle steps in front of pryde.

"sir, can i help you?" he asks, his foot tapping the ground in a beat.

a face mask and a hat in the middle of the night would get kyle to raise a brow, but hoenn was full of weirdos that it doesn't seem at all strange to find people with the weirdest accessories.

Well wasn't that inconvenient, had this been a normal guard Pryde believes even with his skill set he could do something. Though against the champion? How annoying. The man just smiles behind the face mask as he puts his hands on his hips, maybe he was too old for this. "I suppose going with the simple answer of asking what these are by a curious man would be too much to ask for hmm?" the older man muses as he hovers over a pokeball.[break][break]

While he could have been much more subtle about this, but that wasn't really the older Rocker way.

kyle smiles. the friendly curiosity is welcome as he'd rather deal with it than getting messy. thieves were a hassle to deal with, as do stubborn children that try to brute force their way in when they cannot face legal consequences for their actions.

"just hoenn security stuff, y'know."

he gives a simple answer as well. it's vague, but not a lie.

"unfortunately, the area's not accessible for the public so i'd have to request you to vacate the premises. thanks!"

dealing with people was still a chore however, regardless of how nice the ones he interacts with are. he already has to work in the middle of the night, and he'd rather not get too busy during that time.

"Security huh? Don't know the League if the League really understands about protecting people," the mystery man counters with a small chuckle. For now mostly just stalling for time as he is hoping that the scans his Rotom Drone is trying to do would give enough readings to allow a proper reading for later. [break][break]

"Awww come on, nothing wrong with looking at it right?" he is pushing his luck and he knows it, but his guard is up and a hand on his pokeball at the ready.

his words tug a nerve. there's a bit of sentimentality connected with his line of work, though most of it is connected to those that weren't in this world anymore.

"yeah, but rules are rules."

kyle turns to his mightyena and then jerks his head to pryde's direction. gestures substituting verbal commands usually are limited to what was trained, though it was simple enough to suffice the end he prefered.

the mightyena's throat rumbles, before a roar scares the rotom away to its pokeball. it's a threat without direct violence, just like what he prefers.

"i can call other people to take my place if you want to try convincing them instead. they're pretty reckless though. if you have that view with the league, you know the type."

he can't deny that there are people who join the league for glory and power, however.

As the ghost is forcefully returned to his pokeball the drone drops to the ground as the AI is now gone and the older man scoffs in some annoyance as he does move to pick it up if the other were to allow it. "Rules may be rules but they aren't for the interest of the people," he comments, "It might interest you to know Mr. Champion, as you've been peaceful thus far, I'm here for the interest of the people of Littleroot," he wasn't but lying may as well have been his first language by now. [break][break]

"The people are worried, and want proper answers and yet here their champion is allowing for abuse of power, are you really alright with that?" Pryde does take out a pocket sized notepad and pen at this, acting like he was some reporter.

there was a lot of provocation, but kyle is well-versed in taking it well thanks to spending an entire childhood in the cesspool of moba games.

"ya," he answers bluntly without elaborating.

he heaves a sigh and then scratches the back of his head. he's scrounging for ways to end this interaction, but very few solutions comes to mind. unable to decide which one has the best outcome, he goes for the easiest.

"this is my last warning. please get off the property. i'm just doing my job man. please let me get through the night."

taking his wallet out, a few bills were taken out and then presented to pryde.

"bro, if you want money, please just take it."

Pryde just sighs, as the masked man just shakes his head seeming more disappointed than anything else. A possible nerve being struck for the first time in awhile as the man prided himself in keeping himself composed and in check of pesky feelings. "And that's a shame to hear champion," he uses the other's title as if hoping it would carry weight on his choices. [break][break]

The mask man writes a few notes before he just raises one arm in mock defeat, "I'll leave I'll leave, but keep your money bro," Pryde knocks the hand away as if sickened by it, "Bet it would hurt many that even the champion thinks he can just throw green at the problem while solving nothing," and with that he does finally leave. And while he does sadly fail on his initial mission. Maybe there is someone he could give the notes of their little conversation, and the Champ's compliance of what's broken.

a corner of his lips tugs upwards as he waves goodbye.

kyle's not beyond sinking low and ruining his image if it means keeping an otherwise troublesome interaction to a resolution quick. it's one of his predicted possible outcomes, and arguably, one of the better ones since it means he gets to keep his pocket money.

if it works, it works.

turning to his mightyena, he pats it in the head as he whispers another command. "secure the perimeter. make sure this wasn't a diversion."

he extends his arms and stretches, watching his pokemon run off and follow his instructions.
