He had signed up on a whim, and the pokémon he had chosen had also been one that isn’t particularly prepared for this – one still in training.

“Well, well, well.” A small smirk crawled across Rowan’s lips, mimicking Martín del Mar ’s own words. “It’s the only CEO of a bank that I know.” He chuckled, resting a hand on the head of his Poliwrath, reassuring the Pokémon of his confidence in them. Ora didn’t seem to need the gesture, their chest puffed up with confidence as they stepped towards the center of the arena. “I hope your Tsareena is as strong as your business, my Poliwrath doesn’t lose.”

Soon, the bell rung and the battle could commence. The Poliwrath surged forward, determined to be the one to land the first blow. A mighty fist swung towards the Tsareena, looking to jab the Pokémon directly in the mid section and knock them backwards, a show of force no doubt.

”Which automatically makes me the best.” The banker grins, but then again, when would Mars ever consider himself not to be the best? His ego knows no bounds, and even if losing this battle, it will remain untouched.

”Poliwrath, huh? Good choice. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.”

It can do a lot, apparently.

The first blow does indeed land, although perhaps not in the way Rowan Wrynn and his pokémon had hoped. When the Poliwrath charges forward, the Tsareena leans back, raising a leg and building enough momentum so that the Water type’s fist doesn’t meet her midsection, but one of her dainty feet instead. A TROP KICK used to block.

She continues to rely on the strength of her legs, hoping the force of the kick will be enough to temporarily push the Poliwrath away.

A solid kick was enough to unbalance the Poliwrath, but not enough to make them lose their footing entirely. “Strike back!” Rowan called out, his tone encouraging but demanding of the Pokémon. Ora squared himself, eyes narrowing on the opponent, energy gathering in their fists once more.

“WRATH!” The Pokémon called out as it surged forward once more, aiming a Dynamic Punch for one of the mighty legs of Tsareena, hoping to begin crippling one of their most effective weapons.

Mars himself will be the first to agree that in combat, finding the weaknesses of one's opponents is primordial. Like with bringing down a building by striking at its foundations, the Tsareena’s legs are without a doubt her greatest strength, and such being the case, also her greatest weakness.

The Poliwrath’s DYNAMIC PUNCH strikes true, and the Fruit Pokémon cries out in pain. Mars does no more than watch, an eyebrow being raised before he speaks a single question:

”Are you done?”

It’s not meant for Rowan but for his pokémon, who glares at the Poliwrath. Apparently, she’s not, because instead of stepping back, she pushes herself forward with one foot. The top of her head glows, this being the only warning sign before she slams headfirst against her opponent’s side. Yes, it’s a ZEN HEADBUTT.

In the midst of a fight, nothing could break the concentration of Rowan’s Poliwrath. Although not intentionally raised to be a fighting machine, the mentality had come naturally to the Pokémon, determined to not only defeat but destroy their opponent. Words washed off the tadpole Pokémon’s back like beads of water, watching carefully for the next move of their opponent.

It was when Tsareena’s head began to glow that Ora understood what was coming next, his own torso beginning to similarly glow with energy. Instead of backing away from the Zen Headbutt, he intended to meet the attack head-on with a Body Slam of his own, wanting to inflict as much damage as possible on the opponent.
