“That fat fish?” She spoke audibly, not really caring about who might hear her, and then chuckled at the memory. “Best case scenario it squishes you when it flops over, big goof that is.” Standing near enough to both Johanna and those thugs, the young woman in a white summer dress simply seemed to amuse herself at these people’s expense. Vio just could not help it. And that wasn’t just because the avatar of said big fish was a stupid jerk, really. But she knew more about that beast than any of these guys. And the mere thought of seeing it as some kind of almighty saviour was just incredibly stupid.

Then again, stupid was pretty much the theme of their uniforms. “Let me guess. None of you has even seen that Pokemon first-hand, right? Stare it right in the eye as it leaps through the skies? Because I most certainly have. And I have more respect for my Rattata than this oversized blue Magicarp. So, I would reckon you tone down those silly paroles and go be productive members of society. Unless that is too much to ask.”

Heh. Cute. They thought they could be intimidating. Well, it would be cute if it wasn’t so pathetic. These guys were going to talk a bit game, yes, but in a city this big with a lot of witnesses? Even they would probably not be stupid enough to start anything. And even if she did, it would just harm their endeavours anyway. Violet was fairly certain that she could not lose here. Plus, despite her haughty looks, she knew how to handle herself, too. Ranger training came in handy every now and then, truly.

Sadly though, before anyone could throw down, someone else decided to get involved. Vio gave them a smirk, first, but it turned into a pout the more words were spoken. She wasn’t in the best of moods already. This girl did not make it better at all. “Darling, being a white knight is so out of style these days. Especially not when it is done so condescendingly. If you truly wanted to help, you should not play into the delusions of these people.”
Vio turned to face the cultist once more, eyes completely steady, fixated on his with a look that was close to a glare but not quite there yet. Because that kind of hostility he was not worth. “And yes ‘she’ did mean every word she said. That grand saviour of yours is nothing but a Pokemon. An overblown blue Magikarp. A somewhat squished Wailord. And it lives in a Pokeball much like most Pokemon do. I would know because I have seen its trainer or so-called ‘avatar’. Heck, given that I have been intimate with said trainer once, I reckon that would mean that I, what was the word they use these days? Ah, yes. I reckon that in a way, I already cucked you proxy.”

Oh, well, apologies were in order. Well, not verbal ones. Not even apologies, really. But she did certainly adjust her opinion of the young blue-haired one. And the dumb cultist, in a way, but that was more her getting a bit more annoyed at his stupidity more than anything. The lady though? Apparently not just talking a big game playing white knight, but she was also willing to step in – have her Pokemon step in, but that was the same thing to her, really – which Vio had not expected. Hence, of the two unexpected developments, she liked at least one.

Not that she felt as if she needed rescuing, of course. That training had kicked in and she had taken a step back, pulling out a Pokeball to bring out her Eevee. But she did not sic it on the cultist, no, no. Injuring him when he was already being stopped? That would just see the police asking annoying questions.[break][break]
But she did not lift a finger to stop the carnage of Pokemon-on-human-action, either. Instead, she saw the Pokemon hit the man hard on the head, enough to alter his trajectory completely, sending him tumbling bleeding to the ground – while the others of his ilk jeered out. They might have been too hesitant to involve themselves until now, but seeing one of their compatriot downed just like that, cowardly and brutally, it seemed to rile them up. “Oh my, that wanton violence certainly is not going to end well!” Her exclamation was a feigned one, of course. But playing up her own innocence sounded like the right move, especially when a group of riled up cultists were looking at whom to focus on here.

Speaking of liability: Violet certainly had none. At least she was convinced of such. After all, she had not sought a fight here at all. If anything, while her words might have been agitating to some, she had done nothing that would truly force anyone to act in any way. How could she? She was just a girl, and these were all big, grown men and women who could think for themselves. Certainly, she could not be faulted for any of this – even though a good dozen of cultists certainly thought that way. Now, she could just let them go and dig their own graves further like that. Sometimes, making someone hit you could lead to a nice payday, after all. But for one, that hurt. And for the other – well, she did not exactly believe that there would be much to gain from that in the first place. These people had lofty ideals, but certainly not the kinds of wallets that would sink them when meeting their beloved oversized fish.

Hence, it was probably best to do something about it. Fortunately, the lot of them were all but ignoring her somewhat sheepish little Eevee. Which was good, because they both displayed a clear and present threat to her well-being, rushing like that. And they severely underestimated the little one.[break][break]
This time she did not really have to say anything, either. Eevee recognized the hate surging towards them and reacted appropriately, reflexively summoning up a Springtide Storm to blow all those cultists away.

Violet watched that with pride, of course, all but ignoring the drama happening with the other group. Though, granted, who would fault her for that? At the end of the day, she was not exactly a grand fighter that one could expect to take care of all this. It would require someone perceptive to realize that she was acting quite calculatedly to begin with.

Well, that was a good job indeed. Her Eevee truly did show it to that mob of people without much remorse. Well, maybe some remorse. It did look a little shocked by the results of its own actions. But it remained steadfast, with an aggressive posture, to deter any further attackers coming after its trainer. All in all, it was learning and shaping up to become a rather interesting companion to her, if nothing else. Being shiny certainly did not hurt, either. Yet, she remained utterly uncertain what path this one would take in the future. Eevees did have options, after all.

In the meantime, she shot a glance at the other girl under attack. She was still subscribing to the hitting one enemy at a time but really hard school of deterrence. It was undeniably effective, though she doubted its efficiency. In a way, she caused herself more trouble, given that she was only adding more wounded that needed help in the process. What a silly young woman. Then again, not everyone could be as smart as to live their lives as a Rocket.[break][break]
Speaking of, the sirens coming closer were probably going to be a bit of an annoyance, but running away would only make her seem rather suspicious indeed. Probably not the best of ideas, really.

So, she stuck around, yet not really going to help. Instead, she collected her Eevee, letting it rest between her arms for the time being. After all, she had not done any first aid in ages. Would probably just make it worse.
