Zev is a high-functioning sociopath wearing the mask of a charming and affable guy. Though he does form attachments, he sees those people and Pokémon as his possessions, like a man might own a useful and difficult-to-replace tool. He enjoys killing people and became a hitman out of a desire to hone the skills of murder. Part of it is the thrill of the hunt, and part of it his view that, just like sports or art or music, murder should be skillfully done as well. He hates sloppy work and lives by his personal moral code: He has no reason to kill someone without a contract unless they get in his way. Similarly, he will not actively mistreat people or Pokémon so long as they behave.[break][break][break]

• Zev was born born and raised in Lavender Town, Kanto.
• He is the older brother of Caleb Harcourt.
• He and Caleb lost their parents during the Kanto War.
• After graduating from high school, Zev served in the Kanto Army between 2006 and 2012.
• Once he completed his Army service, Zev found work as a bouncer and bartender in Saffron City.
• Zev moved to Slateport City, Hoenn in 2019. He currently lives in the Lower District.
• In 2020, Zev opened his own bar, Howling at the Moon.
• He is an active member of a Mixed Martial Arts gym in Slateport and the Flying Sword School in Fortree.
• He started dating Neffatari Nzingha in October 2022. They married at a Slateport City courthouse in April 2023.
• Zev won first place in the Steel Chef Cooking Contest in 2023.
• In November 2023, Zev closed down his bar and moved out of his Slateport City apartment without warning. His whereabouts are currently unknown.
• During the fight against White Kyurem in early January 2024, he was revealed to be a member of Team Rocket.

• Zev's history as a bouncer and bartender in Kanto is false; it has been forged. In truth, he has been working as a contract killer since 2013.
• He is known within Team Rocket as The Black Hand and has a reputation for his professionalism, brutality, and efficiency.
• He does not kill wantonly and shows disdain for careless or amateur work.
• Rumor has it that he moved to Hoenn in 2019 for more lucrative job opportunities. Though never officially confirmed, it can be surmised that Zev moved to Hoenn to find his traitorous brother.
• In November 2022, Zev participated in the Littleroot Town operation, where he obtained a primal crystal shard that teleports to the Mechanical Kingdom.
• Zev was promoted to Rocket Beast following the Littleroot operation.
• In April 2023, Zev participated in the Battle of Dewford. That same day, he asked Cillian Quinn to put Caleb Harcourt's name back on the defector hit list.
• CANONS ONLY: In May 2023, Zev joined bryan delarosa on a mission to kidnap Chu-e Choi and remove Necrozma's influence from Chu-e's body. The mission was a success, but as a result, Zev became the new host for Necrozma's dark crystals.
• In June 2023, he participated in the Battle at the Ancient Tomb.
• In October 2023, he fought on the resurfaced island on Route 105.
• CANONS ONLY: In November 2023, Zev made contact with Necrozma and became its Avatar. He published a report about the encounter.
• He moved from Slateport City to Mossdeep City.

• During the Battle of Dewford, Caleb stabbed Zev in the abdomen, a non-fatal wound. However, it was enough for Zev to feel like Caleb betrayed him. As a result, Zev seeks revenge upon his brother by destroying his life and everything he holds dear.
• Zev and Necrozma are one entity, with him acting as an independent extension of the Pokémon; his essence is slowly being consumed by its essence. He can communicate with it via psychic link and is aligned with its will wholly and completely.
