"not sure what products you're particular too, but, there's some more... feminine ones, beneath the counter that is." leftovers from someone who'd been all but a ghost. "if you want, i can toss the clothes you have on now in the laundry." he raises an eyebrow softly, letting the ranger make the decision.

"i'll fetch you a towel and some spare clothes. just toss the old ones outside the door." the bathroom lies in front of them, a few doors down, his bedroom. he gives her one last look, expression soft and understanding.

"oh?" annalise isn't particular about anything right now except soap and hot water, but not smelling like a dude when she comes out of the shower is a welcome amenity. she looks down at herself at the offer of doing laundry, examining the scuff marks and rust stains adorning her outfit. hesitation clouds her expression for a heartbeat before she relents to the idea with a soft smile. "yeah, i should probably wash these, shouldn't i?"

Greyson Connors leads her to the bathroom, lingering in front of the door to ask her if he can get her anything else. his kindness makes her feel warm and raw where her emotions lay frayed — like she could cry again, but in a less miserable context. he woke up in the dead of night and made his home a safe space for her to decompress; it's hard not to feel a little sentimental about it. "i think i'm all set."

hand on the door handle, she looks back at him, eyes big, "thank you, greyson. you're a really good friend."

she reemerges fifteen minutes later. the bathroom door opens, casting warm light and humid air into the darkened hall. the borrowed clothes hang off her frame, darkened spots blooming on the shirt where the still-wet ends of her hair touch the fabric. she smells like the products under the sink, like whatever ghost is preventing him from tossing it all in the trash.

"can i ask you something?" annalise sounds like she's spent her shower time mulling things over.

he gives her a small, but reassuring smile as the door shuts. when she tosses the clothes out he simply scoops them up and tosses them in the wash. he even adds a little bit of fabric softener too.

the time passes quickly, but despite himself, greyson nearly falls asleep half-a-dozen times. in the end, annalise henderson finds him mindlessly thumbing through twitter, eyes staring blankly at the coverage of sootopolis and more.

"oh, hey. you're looking much less worse for wear," a smile and a small head nudge, "shoot."

the bright of his screen demands her attention when she finds him, shameless in the way she steals a glance at his phone screen. the words sootopolis city scrolls up on his phone as he thumbs through the news. it's enough to make her avert her eyes towards his face as she sits down beside him.

"i feel less worse for wear, too." her voice is weary from the long night, but the soft laugh that punctuates her words rings less hollow than it did earlier. hands folded in her lap, she sucks her bottom lip between her teeth as she tries to pick out the right words.

"you've done so much for me tonight — or i guess it's today now, isn't it? — " another chuckle forced up her throat. "and i really appreciate it. and you."

annalise reaches out to rest her hand on Greyson Connors 's arm, brandishing a smile and a knitting of her brow that betrays her concern for him. "you've been through so much recently and i feel like i shouldn't even be complaining about my problems by comparison."

she tucks a wet lock of hair behind her ear. the look in her eyes speaks volumes: i'm worried about you, too.

"are you okay? i mean — do you want to talk about it or anything? sootopolis ... " she trails off, finds the path again. "i just want to be there for you like you are for me, y'know?"

and it's easier to focus on someone else's problems than her own.

greyson's "i'm fine" severs much of the concern that has taken root inside her, but her gaze lingers on his face, searching for something. a fracture, maybe. he doesn't give her long to dwell on his answer, cutting her attention down the hallway with a sweep of his arm.

her fatigue pounces on her at the mention of sleep and a basically-brand-new bed. the shower had chased it away for a while, but it sinks its teeth in again. annalise hardly has the strength to fend it off this time, not with the promise of food when she wakes up. Greyson Connors gets the subject change he's looking for.

"sounds good to me." she gives his arm an affectionate squeeze before she rises to her feet. a glance at the room down the hall, then back to him. "i promise i'll be way more fun tomorrow. i'm just, like, going through it tonight."
