The name sounded oddly familiar to Barnaby. It prickled at the back of his brain, teasing at his memory. Where had he heard that name before?[break][break]

"Barnaby Finch." He left off the obligatory 'maybe you've heard of me?' Something in the way her eyes sparked with recognition told him she'd probably seen him on television or social media somewhere.[break][break]

That made thing easier.[break][break]

"This isn't a usual spot for a getaway to the beach." Indeed, just as he spoke, a frigid blast of air from the mouth of the cave blew across the sand. [break][break]

"Why come here, Mei?" He enjoyed the way her name slid off his tongue. It left a sweet tingle on his lips.[break][break]

A short ways off a SILICOBRA popped out from a hidden burrow, agitated by the presence of humans and foreign Pokémon alike. It began to slither closer, but was ultimately subdued by Bellona before the two humans even realized it was there.

As long as she fulfilled contracts and remained loyal, she was allotted far more personal freedom than she'd ever had in Kanto.[break][break]
So instead of ignore the prospect of a glacier splitting apart inside of a cave that already had a bit of a mysterious air, she leaned into the promise of adventure.[break][break]
"Could you lead me there? I've never seen a glacier, let alone one that's splitting apart. Why do you think that is, anyway? A natural occurrence or..." Some kind of Pokémon, perhaps?[break][break]
A Glalie rolled into view, and Amphrite was quick to corral it for Mei.[break][break]
