"damn. that’s pretty impressive, vollans.”

it was more measurable than vollans calling himself ’one of the best’. bo could respect eight badges. he only had four, and one was from , which didn’t really count that much even though he would say it did to make him feel good about himself.

this time, bo caught the smallest fish. it was very small. a microscopic organism compared to the specimen of its evolution just before. was this its baby?

”i wonder if this is its baby.”

lance caught another very small fish as well. quite possibly another baby. bo was feeling too cute to feel defeated and released his fish back into the water with a smile on his face.

”yeah it is. pretty fun, though, i think. i'll probably regret it tomorrow.”

bo listened, falling quiet again as he reeled in another extra small fish. that's okay. he was pretty sure he had already gotten his prize catch for the day.

he removed the barraskewda from the hook, tossing it back out to the oceon before casting again. sitting, his eyes idly went up to a passing bird, before his line pulled and he was up again to wrestle it in.

"but so far nothing seems to have blown up by touching it, so maybe not."

a milotic was his next catch. pretty, but otherwise it wasn't anything particularly special. at least, not in a size competition.

he released it and cast his line back out, sitting and allowing his mind to drift back to the chaos at the temple. not the battle, or the guts of his partner, but the bright light which had exploded from the structure before it had vanished. a mystery yet unsolved...

his line pulled and he began to reel in his last catch for the day, squinting from the blinding sunset.
