yeah, cian knows he's late but he's not going to admit that for no reason other than to be annoying. in his defense, she teased him first, so he has to stand his ground.[break][break]

he climbs up the steps to join her atop her yacht, still feeling out of place despite his previous experiences on yachts and rich people.[break][break]

"you have fishing gear, right? i forgot to bring mine hehe."

Summer wouldn't admit to him that the constant up and down bobbing of the yacht was making her feel sick. The sooner they got the boat in motion, the better. So, instead she tched before responding.

"You're late. We have things to do, and I want to get other stuff done later as well," she pointed out as she leaned back in her chair.

So much for looking professional while fishing. She looked like she was tanning.

"There's extra in the storage. Just sit for a minute while we head out. You want a drink or something?"

"what other stuff do you possibly have to do that is more important than this?"[break][break]

fishing! the grandest of all hobbies. or at least that's what one of the underbosses thinks. not cian, though. he has no love for fishing or for fishies.[break][break]

cian plops down, not yet venturing down to storage for his gear.[break][break]

"yup, yup. what'd ya got?"

"You do realize that I'm the CEO of my company now, right?"

Summer gave him a look, her sunglasses tipping on the edge of her nose. She pushed them back up, to cover her eyes again.

She waved her hand dramatically in the air, to signal for one of her attendants to come over and take whatever order Cian so desired.

"Anything, really. They'll make you want you want. Bring me a frozen margarita," Summer said.

Though her staff knew not to put any alcohol in it. She wouldn't say that aloud to Cian, lest she succumb to his teasing.

that's news to cian but then again it's not all that surprising. he doesn't keep up much with the news, especially not news about the business world.[break][break]

he leans back in his chair, enjoying the sun above them only for the attendant to cast their shadow over him.[break][break]

"uh, same for me, please. thanks!"[break][break]

yeah, definitely not used to this.[break[]break]

when the attendant's left, he tilts his head over to ask:[break][break]

"when did you become ceo?"

The shocked look on his face was a pleasant sight. Summer couldn't hide a smirk and a chuckle as he seemingly gawked, turning her head back to the sea.

Their drinks were brought back to them, set on beautifully decorated coasters beside them.

She took hers, sipping through the straw carefully as if not to get a brain freeze.

"You know, when it was time for my dear daddy to stop tormenting me and my brother. I took him out. I was always groomed to take over. And it was that point that it was time."

cian has to do a double take but he still manages to pick up his drink. he doesn't sip yet, however, unable to with the damning confession he just heard.[break][break]

"took him out, like, killed him?"[break][break]

he figures there's no point sugar-coating it. if word gets out then summer would probably kill her ship crew as well.[break][break]

is he having drinks and fishing with a murderer?

Hm. So Cian was one of those squeamish about the topic of murdering? Summer was almost surprised. Yet, she let no feeling come over her face as she waved him off.

"Cian, I'm kidding. It's a joke in the industry. People saying you took out your higher up to reach the top. Why would I want to kill my own father?"

She raised her brows, prompting an answer from him as she sipped her drink.

"Though, I can say I'm not too sorry for him being gone... now that he's not tormenting my brother and I, there's a bit of a calm feeling at home. Despite the hectic life."

She shrugged, sighing.

"Don't know if you can relate, though."

cian could relate. but he's not close enough to summer to disclose such a thing.[break][break]

"i dunno if you'd kill your own father but when you say things like i'm not too sorry for him being gone, emphasis on gone, it really does make people think."[break][break]

he sighs, drowning his nerves with his glass of frozen margarita. yummy.[break][break]

"in any case, i'm glad he's alive and that you're now ceo. congrats."

Summer laughed, waving her hand at Cian.

"I suppose we never really shared our sort of humor outside of the bedroom. Don't worry about it. It's nothing more than a power change."

And she'd leave it at that. All their previous experiences together had been drinking, followed by rendezvous in hotel rooms or her other estates.

It wasn't like they knew each other well at all, outside from their preferences.

"What have you been up to then, Cian?"

so, really, he doesn't actually know her. but here he is, sipping on his frozen margarita on her luxurious boat as they prepare to go fishing.[break][break]

"you haven't visited yet."

"Gym? Right, I think I heard about you running a minor league gym. How's that going?"

She couldn't imagine doing something like that. It sounded tedious, having enthusiastic trainers coming in and begging to challenge you. Summer would only want to crush their dreams.

Good for Cian.

"Awe. Don't tell me you miss me," she teased him with a small laugh, peering at him from over her sunglasses.

"Gyms aren't really my thing. But, perhaps I'll make a visit to yours sometime."

he takes a beating on most days but he's gotten used to it ever since the splashfest. that's kinda what his role is as minor league gym leader. to take a beating and to make sure they learn in the process.[break][break]
