The noise is loud, and he just happens to be moving through to drop a smaller brief at the precinct. A few check ins later and he was almost done with his shift. The shattering of glass- a scream- some yells and he's sighing but dutifully running to the scene of the crime. Thick shards of glass lay on ground and he's careful as he stepped towards blythe rosewood . "Are you ok?" he asked, eyes scanning her before the rest of the little greenhouse for signs of injury or blood on the dirt. [break][break]

His partner Joules, a shiny magnezone, floated on, scanning and beeping at the poor girl hoping to coax her towards him without a fuss. Paxton was already investigating, tense as he looked aorund the place. "Did someone break in? Or was this an accident?" he added turning back to the girl, not knowing the real suspect was getting away.

when paxton concordas speaks to one blythe rosewood, there's blood on her forehead and tears gathering in her eyes. glass shrapnel pierced right above her eyebrow, barely missing her eyes, when the bandits shot through the windows, and it hurts, but not as much as it hurts knowing that some people are much worse off.

old naia got robbed for all she was worth. her shop's broken, her plants trampled, her finances in ruin. even now, customers lie askance further away, recovering from the shock of trauma. they breathe hard, they try to gather their strength, and the officer has the gall to ask if she's okay. even now, the people who did this are getting away!

she's not going to be okay if somebody doesn't do something very soon. and if it ends up being her that ends up doing something, then...

"i don't matter!" she exclaims, mouth moving too fast for her brain (or even her lips, for that matter) to keep up with. she punctuates her next words with a pointed finger beyond the greenhouse, out into the wide open streets where she saw the two masked individuals bleed into. "robbery—they went—they—"

a pause. her hand falls. then, her mind breaks into two as a decision slashes through her head.

"i think i know where they went!" she cries out, rushing ahead as blood streams from her forehead wound and into her crystalline, clear eyes. "cmon, follow me!"

and out of the shop she goes with reckless abandon into the great wide world, not a thought except helping taking up place in her mind.

The place is a mess, and he tries to make sure his words are as soothing as possible to the poor customers. He radioed in the location, though he's sure someone else besides him had heard that. His partner Joules, is scanning the room and with Blythe shouts and points the Magnezone is off, taking to the sky to try and find the assailants. [break][break]

Paxton's attention is on Blythe though, the blood streaming from her forehead is a concern but before he can voice it she's yelling and running. "Whoa!! Hey- just tell me where they're going- kid!" he called out after her but its useless, she's already gone. His radio sends back the message that officers are on their way to secure the greenhouse and he relayed this to the people inside before running after the reckless girl. [break][break]

She's quick, but he puts a bit more OOMPH into his steps so he can closed the distance with her. "Hey! Hey you need medical attention!" he protested as she led the way through.

a brief glance over her shoulder is all blythe needs to quell the worries in her heart. good. he's following her.

not without some protest, of course. fylleman always criticized blythe for leaping before looking, for dragging people along without thinking of what would come next, but blythe's never considered such foresight to be a tool in her repertoire. why think when action is only a step away? why grow paralyzed by inaction when problems could be solved seconds later? so she's bleeding—first aid can always come after the culprits are cornered and arrested.

well, not by her. by the police officer, obviously. holy shit, is she taking charge of a police officer? this is so backwards!!!!

just as blythe's doubts begin to cloud her path to action, she skids to a stop in front of an old, crumbling alleyway in old town oldale, an ancient hiding spot for a young, pink-haired girl with cheeks stained by tears and soot. it looks just like she left it so many years ago, undisturbed after all this time, but holds two new interlopers this time around.

and they've been waiting, too. as blythe finds her footing in the alleyway's mouth, all the blood leaves her face as she raises her empty hands over her head. a gun barrel glints menacingly in her eye's reflection, wielded by the masked thief unburdened by a sack of loot.

fylleman was right. she needs to think before she leaps. her pupils, blown wide and panicked, slowly slide over to look at the direction the police officer should be coming from. her gaze seems to scream 'help!!!'

Paxton is hot on her heels trying to reach her, grab her. Anything to stop her and ask what the hell was going on. He can't exactly help if he doesn't know what's going on. As she turned around a corner Joules kept eyes from above. They see the glint in the darkness, her posture as she tensed up and froze. It's automatic. Before they even figure out he's there a LIGHT SCREEN goes goes up. A pale transparent wall dropping from her head to the ground to protect her. [break][break]

Right as Paxton skidded into view. The event triggers the gunman, who in his surprise can only look up before back down. Blue uniform, sweating. The police. Paxton doesn't even get to say STOP! and Joules isn't fast enough to cover him, focused on protecting Blythe with more walls to cut her off from their attackers. [break][break]

A shot rings out as Paxton made a break for Blythe, about to use her position as cover. He dodged the worst of it, but he's shot. That much is evident by the tear in sleeve and the small spray of blood as the bullet carved out a chunk of his bicep. "Joules! Stop them!" he ordered as one of them prepares to leave while the other is glaring at the missed shot. His own eyes, wild with pain and fury turn to Blythe. "Move!" he ordered as Joules zoomed to try and cut off the alleyway. As he does another pokemon is released. A Salazzle that immediately blasted out a wave of fire at the steel type. Paxton is busy fumbling his own arm, clamping a hand over it to add pressure to the wound.
