SETTING: SOUTH OF EVER GRANDE CITY

EXPOSITION

Somewhere in the ocean between Ever Grande City and Pacifidlog Town, seemingly unearthed by strong currents and the awakening of pokemon long left slumbering. A structure, captured by photos from local divers has been identified as possibly belonging to the Hoyeon civilization due to its estimated size and location. [break][break]

Not much has been recovered of the Hoyeon people, but efforts are being made to reunite any and all artifacts with the corresponding tribes, which are scattered throughout Hoenn. One of the most prominent being those residing in Pacifidlog Town. The current project will consist of a collaboration between Tempest Quinn , representing the CHILDREN OF THE SEA, and the League. However, due to a majority of manpower left to defend against the meteor, as well as the VALOR INITIATIVE efforts, a smaller team has been assembled intent on finishing the unearthing as well as recovery of the structure. The success of the plan will depend on volunteer effort, and as such cannot go forth without the proper number of trainers, officers, and rangers present. Due to the current location as well as proximity to large coral colonies, the team will need to dive underwater to help extract the mystery object. [break][break]

The repatriation of the structure to the Hoyeon people is crucial for the protection of their history, having had most of it lost after the colonization of Hoenn. Teams will be tasked to dive underwater for a period of 2 to 3 hours. Participants should be comfortable being underwater, and, naturally, water types are a must.

Greeting, Officers, Rangers, and lovely volunteers. On behalf of all leads on this excavation, I thank each and every one of you for your participation. My name is Officer paxton concordas, I will be handling the logistics behind our project today. My colleagues will explain more of the historical and environmental aspects. I will field more general, administrative questions. [break][break]

We have divided you already into two teams. One will be the Excavation Team, more directly handling unearthing the object with Eva Morales and Professor Esra Remzi. Team Two will be headed by Evergrande City's own Ranger Captain, ollie morales. In order to minimize environmental damage during the extraction phase as well as provide cover for our dig team. Now, before we get I will let our last, and most important member Tempest Quinn give you context as to what we could be handling.

ABOVE THE TRENCH

The next wave of predators makes its mad dash towards the security team. All in the area are at risk of being devoured. As the carnivorous fish pokemon attack, trainer and pokemon alike scramble to defend themselves and their wounded, who seem to attack more of the menace.

@ cian’s plan is good, but unfortunately execution fails him. His Froakie is quick to move however, unable to control the SMOKESCREEN under these extreme conditions. It doesn't go out, instead clouding over Cian. Stuck in the haze, he doesn’t see the Bruxish cut through the engulfing the little thing in its mouth and crunching down hard. A scream, and trails of blood red alert the trainer of his partner in the process of getting devoured. Better act fast. [break][break]

@ wren’s Vaporeon works overtime, amongst the cloud of red that enveloped both cadets. AQUA RING bloats, trying to cover both injured with its power. @ kieran’s Dewott cover’s another angle, sending back those fish that were brave enough to move closer. Finally, @ ollie valiantly covers for his cadets. His Lanturn uses ELECTRO BALL on the gathering Bruxish, attracted by the bloody streaks in the water. It’s enough to break through the squad that had gathered and chase them off. [break][break]

In that brief moment of relief, they would note the little Slowpoke that gently nuzzled the injured rookies, adding a HEAL PULSE to their AQUA RING and speeding up the healing factor before darting away to weaker targets. [break][break]

Perhaps that’s how @ symon found himself overrun. His Milotic uses DRAGON TAIL, putting herself in the way of the rabid water types. Her tail hits true, but the ROUGH SKIN of the Sharpedo makes her flinch. That is enough for a couple of Bruxish to set themselves on her, grabbing at her tail fin and yanking her. Teeth hook into flesh and as blood oozes into the water, more join in to take chunks out of the beautiful, shimmering serpent. The water darkens as screams pulse through the water before she finally faints, leaving symon blessing defenseless. [break][break]

Just as they are about to set onto Symon, annalise henderson 's Milotic renders cover with a large WATER PULSE that shoves attackers out of the way. Left confused, the pokemon are pulled in different directions, unable to fight the natural currents that seemed to be getting stronger with each passing minute in the distortion. The push and pull, like breathing, is getting worse. [break][break]

@ izumi’s pokemon's plan works a little too well, attracting the attention of a group of sharks. While the Greninja attempts to dodge, one well timed CRUNCH is too deep and makes it FLINCH. Another uses SCREECH to disorient, and finally purple black fangs rip a chunk of leg out as POISON FANG meets its side. A horrible mix of shrieking and gurgling is heard and the Sharpedo and Bruxish begin a frenzy, all darting wildly to rip what pieces they could off before moving to a fresher trail of blood. Eager to get through the Blastoise, fangs glow purple and black before they swarm together, POISON FANG itching to latch onto flesh. While @ josh is safe, his Blastoise is POISONED. Before the incoming enemy can lunge for Josh, however, a well timed ICE BEAM blasts the boldest of the crowd back. However, that many rotten bites take its toll, and the Blastoise seems to slump over, wheezing, while their frozen opponents sway and drift in a chunks of ice down into the trench. Izumi Yamamura is able to get to Josh Dragomir , but the toll took was great. [break][break]

What’s left of the school is set on @ shalinnariya and her partner. Sharpedos are not meant to be ridden given their ROUGH SKIN, and upon Shalin surprising the largest and angriest of the sharks, its natural defenses are already rubbing away at the material in her suit. It dived down, bucking and screeching, trying to slam the impromptu rider into the sand. The movement is erratic, but part of the school follows attempting vainly to help pry the human off. And while Pharika the Dragalge does successfully pull off the THUNDERBOLT against the Sharpedo, she forgets her trainer is still riding and thus electrocutes her as well. On the bright side, a huge number of the sharks drop to the sand, twitching. [break][break]

And whatever’s left @ luka’s own Vaporeon can manage. As Shalin’s Dragalge scooped up their trainer, an underwater BLIZZARD manifested. Glacial power coalesced amongst those still darting towards the shrine. Cold slows the tropical fish, and ice crystals begin to form around before spider webbing outward, connecting and tangling the fish. It spreads until a chunk of ice simply forms, dropping the captive prey into the trench below.

@ elinor and her Hisuan Samurott move in to assist with AQUA JETT against the Bruxish while other members move to investigate the shrine further. They ping pong knocking back any pink and blue stragglers that made it past the security team before moving closer down to the rest.

A roar comes out, shaking the trenches and adding to the confusion of the storm before there is rumbling and something slithers out at lightning speeds.

Beloved audience, it appears there's been a change of plans. To kick things up a notch, the Semi Finals will now be a battle royale-style mash-up with an arena swap to accommodate all players!

MINT :

Take this little arena intermission to get some snacks, pets some pups, and maybe visit out sponsor stalls? We’ll announce the final beatdown momentarily. Let’s see some carnage!!

ATTENTION FINALISTS: No changes to the rules will be made EXCEPT now your starting HP will be 250! Bonuses will remain as is! This will be a PvE battle.  

RULES

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING RULES! This is a TOURNEY STYLE contest that takes place MID AUGUST. The ribbon won may either count for a TOUGH or COOL ribbon but NOT BOTH. [break][break][break]

• you may only sign up with ONE character per player
• Contestants will participate in a 16 person tourney style bracket.
• All contestants start off with 150 HP
• Contestants roll once per post to BOOTY BUMP their opponents and inflict damage. The number of the roll equals the damage inflicted.
• Beach themed pokemon (water, fight) will be able to add +10 to their damage rolls
• In addition, contestants with roll bonuses can choose to use all, part, or none of their bonus.
• Examples:
  Mint’s Blastoise rolls a 60. Blastoise is a Beach Mon, so she gets an auto +10. Mint can use the full +10 to roll a total of 70 damage. [break][break]
  
  Mint’s Blastoise rolls a 60. Blastoise is a Beach Mon, so she gets an auto +10. Mint can use +3 to get a total roll of 63, and receive a special prize. [break][break]
  
  Mint’s Blastoise rolls a 63. Blastoise is a Beach Mon, so she gets an auto +10. Mint can choose to not use any of a bonus ( +0 ) and stay on 63 damage, receiving an additional prize.
• The special prize numbers are as follows: 1, 10, 23, 63, 69, 100.
• Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are as follows
  
  1st Place Ribbon: megastone, water/fighting tera shard (winner's choice), 200 PD [break][break]
  2nd Place Ribbon: water/fighting tera shard (winner's choice), 2 prem gachas, 150 PD [break][break]
  3rd Place Ribbon: 1 prem gacha, sparkling dust, 100 PD
• Due to reliance on rolls for damage, moves and abilities can be used as wanted for flavor.
• Salacs are not allowed
• Characters that don't post within 2 days of the last reply will receive ONE (1) warning before forfeiting their matches.
• Mod posts will come every 7 DAYS. Or sooner if matches end faster than expected.
