Out of curiosity, he tries the same simple method Theo has succeeded with. As the shedinja materializes over his shoulder, Fern reaches back and taps it with a pokeball before it might attempt to enact any sort of grudge.[break][break]

It's a slightly distracted action, as they are too fixated on the flicker that shifts in the underboss' expression. Fern's brows climb. In a degree of surprise? Perhaps. They cannot claim to have expected any sort of differentiation from the placidity they've been met with thus far.[break][break]

"Suppose that's true," they reply with a sigh, shoulders drooping (a touch of drama, of course,) "enigmatic response as ever." But now - now they are much more curious.

They are distracted briefly when Theo continues, and they are quick to sigh (only a little dramatically.) “Those are so somber though. Where’s the mystique!” So wrapped up in picking apart their mental thesaurus, they don’t even notice the hovering duosion.[break][break]

A swipe of the trevenant’s SHADOW CLAW sends the lil guy hurtling away like no more than a volleyball flying off the court.[break][break]

He snaps his finger and points with an expression that says ‘aha!’[break][break]

“Sibylline.” Another hum before he laughs.

His recommendations are certainly not because he finds Theo bland! By no means! Or at least, if he thought so, Fern would never dare admit as much aloud. "You want something with panache, you know?" His hands gesticulate as he speaks, spinning lazily as he mulls over the options. "Stoic is one thing, but you really want something that's gonna stick with someone.
