His head tilts curiously. In interest. “A naganadel, hm. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person before.”[break][break]

He sighs tiredly at the second haunter that approaches. Somehow, it takes the hint that he’s not all that interested.

the quiet laugh is expected. he imagines it must be quite a ridiculous sight to witness from one of rocket's underbosses who is arguably the most stoic one.[break][break]

theo glances around briefly, taking in the space to see if a naganadel would fit. it'll be tight, but it's doable.[break][break]

In all honesty, he’s not put much thought into how Theo might be in an interaction. What he knows of the admin are from general meetings and word of mouth that speak of that stoic neutrality. Fern, however, finds him awfully interesting. If anything, because of that deadpan humor he’s just been met with. The laugh it drew from him had been genuine, after all.[break][break]

“Oh, yes. If you’re offering.” Fern nods, glance deviating as his trevenant swats at a duskull whose shroud has snagged on poplar’s twiggy horns. He helps it by trying to pull it free by sucking it into a pokeball.

the TELEPORTING abra does not even bother theo in the slightest, perhaps used to things far more annoying.[break][break]

at fern's confirmation, theo reaches for the luxury ball that's always in his pocket. it almost seems to glow even in the depths of mount pyre.[break][break]

"alright."[break][break]

a push of a button later and the luxury ball pops open, and out comes a one-armed naganadel. immediately it screeches, sharp sounds echoing across the space around them.

A delightful little dreepy peeks out from around a corner, and Fern (being Fern) approaches it with a ziploc baggie of grapes that he was saving for himself. but he loves dreepy that much and the snack offering is well met - he gathers the spectral little dragon into his arms as he waits on Theo.[break][break]

Still scratching at the dreepy's chin, his brows lift as the massive naganadel is released, screeching on arrival. curiously, he notes the lack of arm, though doesn't ask. as fond as he is of ghosts, dragon-types also spur fern's interest (which is why dreepy are perfect, to be quite honest.) So the naganadel is also of great curiosity to him, though it's still rather...buggy. "Yeah, I'd say this is pretty, uh, ultra." He laughs, trying to peer around its large body back to Theo. "Where did you find it?"

naganadel definitely looks more like a bug than it does a dragon. its stinger likely influences that perception. but he is fond of it either way, more so because of who gifted it to him.[break][break]

the ultra beast hovers above them, wings scraping against the ceiling. the salamence occupies itself with CRUNCHING down on a passing chimecho that ends up being sucked into a pokeball.[break][break]

Fern whistles low from the back of his throat— impressed. “Generous gift.” It certainly looks powerful to say the least.[break][break]

And he can definitely say with assurance that he would not wish to face off against it. It is fortunate that as of now, they find their allegiances in the same place. [break][break]

A pallosand rises from the ground, attempting to toughen up its sandy body with HARDEN, but it is still no match against the swipe of his trevenant’s branchy claws. Before it fully bursts apart, Fern tosses a ball into the thick of the sand spray.[break][break]

“No lovable chin scratchies for it, then?” he asks with laugh, looking back up.

or worse — fern's whole arm. but then that would allow them to have a cool mechanical arm, so maybe that's a win eventually. all for the mystique, of course.[break][break]

a wild yamask's CRAFTY SHIELD is briefly admired before he turns his attention back to his colleague.[break][break]

A woobat flaps its little wings a bit too close to Poplar for its liking. The trevenant responds by puffing a will-o-wisp at it. This quickly sends the tiny guy fluttering away, puffball body slightly singed and smoking.[break][break]

His head tilts. “Do you not?” Perhaps this is frowned upon within Rocket, but Fern is a naturally affectionate person. His Pokémon are often no exception. “Some more than others.”
