There was a suspicious stirring in the brush nearby the trail. Perhaps a fox waking for its evening hunt? With an easy flick of his wrist, Barnaby released one his favorites, Gabrielle the PERSIAN. She was familiar with what her duties were here - stay at a heel by her trainer's side unless directed otherwise.

With a nod, Barnaby indicated she use SWIFT to flush whatever was hiding nearby. Glittering stars manifested around the PERSIAN and shot forward, startling - not a FENNEKIN - but a PURRLOIN from the undergrowth.

"Hypnosis - hurry!" Barnaby commanded, steering Reine as to cut off the fleeing feline, giving Gabrielle more time to subdue it. Expertly aimed, the waves of somnolent energy hit their mark without issue, leaving the PURRLOIN dozing in the dirt in the middle of the trail.

He had been decieved! It was not a vulpine species, but a feline one. Still, the PURRLOIN was of an interesting color and would make a good companion for Barnaby's own LIEPARD. he stowed the filled Safari Ball in his the bag that hung from his shoulder and then clucked his tongue, urging Reine forward.

The faint honk of an evening crow echoed through the air, likely from the tops of one of the many large trees along the trail, but Barnaby paid little mind to it. His focus was elsewhere, scanning the underbrush for the rumored FENNEKIN.

There it was!! Flushing from the grass and onto the trail! A flash of silver and bloody red under the full moon's light! It just had to be what Barnaby was searching for!

"After it!" He exclaimed, urging Reine onwards and pointing for Gabrielle to follow. The PERSIAN immediately lunged forward, her primed hunting instincts at their maximum. The FENEEKIN scurrying in front of her was too enticing to let escape.

The little fox risked a glance over her shoulder and shuddered at what she saw - a trio of terrifying scarecrows chasing her in the night! In an attempt to deter the inevitable, she released a few WILL-O-WISPS to distract those chasing her. Unfortunately for the FENNEKIN, though, Gabrielle simply unleased a bout of ICY WIND to blow back the errant flames.

A bend in the trail would give them their chance.

"Hypnosis!" Barnaby commanded as the FENNEKIN made to turn, leaving her side exposed.

The much-rumored beast tumbled in a haze of dusty gravel, upending on itself as it fell unconscious. It was not a graceful submission, but a submission nonetheless. Barnaby was victorious in his search, as proven by the satisfying ding! of his Safari Ball.

"Wonderful, both of you." He praised, stroking his RAPIDASH's neck and fixing Gabrielle with an approving gaze. Barnaby clucked his tongue to continue onward, but a ghastly haze from above stopped him in his tracks.

Had it been attracted by the din of their chase? Or perhaps the spectral WILL-O-WISPs drew it in? Whatever the case, a SHUPPET hung ominously above them near the tree line. Watching. Unblinking.

"... Take care of it, Gabrielle."

Barnaby didn't like the look of the ghost. His PERSIAN's SHOCK WAVE should be enough to subdue it, if it didn't have any tricks up it's sleeve.

The lurking SHUPPET was sufficiently warded off. The crackling of Gabrielle's electrical attack was enough to startle it and a warning SHOCK WAVE enough to goad it away from the treetops. It felt threatened and swooped down to defend itself, but the PERSIAN's swift follow-up HYPNOSIS rendered it unconscious. Barnaby, meanwhile, clucked his tongue and again encouraged Reine forward. A languid flip of his wrist sent a Safari Ball toward the SHUPPET which, upon successful capture, Gabrielle fetched for him.

He figured he'd finish the loop around this trail and then head back to the main gates. Barnaby had gotten what he came for, after all, so there was little point in prolonging the venture more than necessary.

Moonlight illuminated their path toward the Safari Zone's exit. With their quarry obtained, Barnaby's ride was much more leisurely. He allowed Reine to continue on at a slow pace, which the RAPIDASH seemed to appreciate. Her sides were still slick with sweat from their earlier run.

All too suddenly, however, their serenity was broken. A strangled neigh burst from Reine and she reared wildly; Barnaby was barely able to contain her and prevent her from bolting.

"Easy!" He commanded harshly, pulling back on the reins.

The cause of all this distress?

The thinnest thread of web glistening in the moonlight. At the end of said thread was a pale blue SPINARAK, it's body waving in the evening breeze. Apparently, the insect had descended from the tree limbs above just as Barnaby and his RAPIDASH were traveling beneath them.

"Come now, that spooked you?" Barnaby questioned his steed, shaking his head in disbelief.

"Gabrielle, fetch it for me, will you?"
