Hazel doesn’t often go out of his way to travel the routes along Mt. Pyre–only when necessity calls for it. And unfortunately, the spectral haunting grounds also curry favor with the psychic pokemon that he prefers to work with. So, whenever he finds himself in need of collecting more, it is better than he not traverse the routes alone.[break][break]

Too easily spooked for his own good. It’s awful silly, really.[break][break]

“Mm, I’m sure your work is never quite done,” he replies as he scans the terrain for anything interesting. His mouth opens to reply to the question turned back on him, when the Unonwn-X snags his attention.[break][break]

“Do they often do that?” he asks abruptly, silvery eyes drifting down to the Unown with obvious curiosity. It looks like a little army general, marching as it is rather than floating in the same manner as the sinistea hovering by his shoulder. “Autonomous little fellow.”[break][break]

A wild medicham creeps out into the open, no doubt trying to sneak up on them with light footsteps. Hazel quickly dispatches Grey to cut it off with a dark, aural SHADOW BALL if effective, he will collect it with a pokeball.

“Fascinating..” he murmurs, more to himself than to Fern as he continues to observe the Unown. “You would think they’d find it easier to float, but I suppose it must enjoy the act itself. An act of emulation, maybe?”[break][break]

He wasn’t intending to touch the Unown in the first place, but he heeds the warning even more so now. “Are they very reactive to potions?” Perhaps that’s a bit redundant to ask–given that this one had an ability to change as a result, but not every potion is the same, after all.[break][break]

Perhaps some are more potent than others.[break][break]

Other pokemon lurk in the foliage nearby, just off the path, but Hazel pays them no great mind. Too focused on what is right in front of him. “Oh, and I am well, to answer your prior question. Busy as well–though more because of finals.” It seemed as if every other hour he was tending to some paper or exam, rather than his personal interests and studies.[break][break]

Violet eyes follow the sturdy, determined Unown as it continues its march. A small smile flickers over his face briefly at the sight. There is just something a bit, well, amusing about how it carries itself.[break][break]

“Interesting..” His head tilts as he considers the singular philter that he himself obtained. It should prove beneficial, then. “I’m sure it would be a boon to business if they manage to achieve proper replication,” he adds as his glance shifts over to Mars again. “Good for bulk purchase.”[break][break]

As Mars deals with the sudden interference of a dottler, Hazel looks on with mild interest until something else catches his attention.[break][break]

The soft tinkling bell-like sounds of a chimecho reaches his ears, and Hazel turns towards it. A docile-looking little thing, it hovers nearby – curious, but shy and wary. He supposes he can relate to that, in a way.[break][break]

Rather than engage it in combat, he turns to rummage through a small bag he’s brought along, until he produces a poffin. Carefully, he extends it out to the chimecho in peaceful gesture.

"Ah, well, given much of Hugo's work, it benefits me to be familiar with it," he replies with a laugh of his own. Considering the fact that his own wheelhouse was largely the world of academia, Hazel's strengths had never quite fallen in the arena of business, unlike his husband who seemed quite adept at managing...secondary affairs behind the front of his museum work. As he'd said to Mars, though, it was a boon to have at least a base understanding.[break][break]

All the better if he was able to assist when needed.[break][break]

The chimecho is appeased by the offered poffin, and so it takes little effort to snare it with a pokeball. Hazel looks on at the exchange between golett and unown, he continues to be amused by Xero who is unfazed by the much larger pokemon (ever the sucker for cute things, and to him, it is...awfully adorable.) Before he can step forward, a sandygast rises up out of the dirt in the path - obviously looking to startle someone unsuspecting. It's effort succeeds, and he jumps a bit. But Grey swoops down to take care of things, attempting to smush it back down into the earth with a SUCKER PUNCH.
