If Aidan had a penny for every time someone had put a knife to him, he'd have retirement funds. This was fairly common from his past but not forgotten at all. The situation itself wasn't something that would scare him, he could tell the masked figure had done this before or was used to situations that resembled this, he was calm and and his hand wasn't shaking, expected from a Rocket member really. If it had been someone that sounded and looked nervous then it would have been a completely different situation, after all it's much easier to converse with someone that has their wits still around. The real scary thing was happening away from them and hidden by the mist, with that bloodcurdling roar from earlier, he really didn't want to be part of it. Of course the masked man wasn't alone, the witch shaped pokemon finally appearing with it's master, another annoying one to deal with to be sure, all psychic types were. Perhaps he still had the surprise factor due to his Gengar.[break][break]

But alas Aidan wouldn't command a attack just yet, the words that left the man's mask really intrigued him. Frowning slightly before speaking up himself. "Am I not the only one? Perhaps I should do some research before joining the good side for once." He was both curious about how this person knew of his hidden past life and about who else held some hidden agenda inside the league, simple curiosity that could lead to interesting interactions in the future.[break][break]

"You're right. I don't know anything that is happening here, in reality I'm just here to earn a paycheck hopefully." It was true, no reason to lie there. It was mostly due to the fact that he didn't exactly care how things worked with the so called primal points or why they should work or be stopped or how they would stop the meteor. What he did care though was his future which sadly was being threatened by the space rock.[break][break]

"Good side?" Was that a rhetorical question? He'd assume so, since the group attacking while the other group is trying to stop a meteor from striking their region... So from principal alone the ones trying to stop that would be considered the very cartoon-like villains in this scenario. Wouldn't have been better for them to sit and wait till league had expended all their resources with the meteor and probably saved Hoenn to THEN attack a weakened League? Attacking while they stopped a apocalypse just seemed reckless and a PR nightmare to deal with. [break][break]

Aidan could see the Hatterene charging her move but he wasn't exactly in the right place to do anything about that, he was sure that his Gengar would be able to handle one single SHADOW BALL without sustaining lethal amount of damage. The Gengar itself would pop out of one of the shadows, crossing it's arms to protect itself from the attack. Awfully rude of the witchy pokemon to attack while their owners had a very civil conversation. He had to let his Gengar deal with the combat itself for now, he hoped that it was smart enough to defend itself. Once it had badly recuperated from Hatterene's attack it would bounce back into a shadow before bouncing out again from a different shadow on their left to attack the Hatterene with it's own SHADOW BALL.[break][break]

"I'm offended you'd know I'm a P.I but wasn't hiring me, perhaps Hoenn really does need to be destroyed. You see if I investigate something without being paid, it becomes just a hobby and I have yet to get paid to investigate someone from the League." It was true, he really didn't like doing his work for free and as far as he knew he really wasn't helping them do whatever they were trying to do here, he was just trying to look pretty. [break][break]

"Oh! You know my name too? Would you bless me with the knowledge of yours? It's not like I'm trying to help them." He would pause and raise one of his fingers up in as in trying to put an exclamation in his speech. "It was peaceful till you showed up... I wasn't about to move from here, the wannabe heroes can have their glory over there. I just wanted something good to show why I should be hired as a P.I... Personal interests, nothing more and nothing less." He was still surprised that someone would know his name though, very few people from Hoenn should know him by his face at this point. Ambition was such a weird word for Aidan, it truly had held no meaning for him for many many years. Ambition had become something of a privilege, something he could not afford, literally and figuratively. In the past he had had dreams, goals, aspirations and ambition and then everything was taken away from him, one thing at a time. It had come to the point where having a hot meal had become a dream, sure he had been given back the ability to achieve minimal goals like that again but it cost him much more than it should have. The syndicate took everything from him and gave back very few things with amazingly high mental, physical and soul level of price. [break][break]

"You misunderstand my goal here. I don't stand in the way of any of you, League or Rocket. It just happened that they reached to me first. You could have floated straight past me and I would not have warned or moved a muscle. I have no horses in this race nor a bone to pick with anyone... Both sides are the same, both sending people to the front lines to die for causes they don't fully understand." But then again, he was speaking to someone who was attacking the group trying to stop the apocalypse, not that he'd ask the true intentions of their move.[break][break]

From not so deep within the silent hill fog, Aidan could hear his Gengar getting it's ass beat by the Hatterene. It wasn't a good look for the Gengar and Aidan was sure to have a nice and long conversation with it after all this. He didn't have much that he could do for it at this time... Till the knife that threatened him was thrown towards his Gengar who was already hurt, that might have been the limit the poor pokemon could take. Aidan had to retreat it, so he would do just that. Opening the empty pokeball to let the knocked out Gengar to return to what was a safe haven.[break][break]

"I don't know about lead me to greatness but you do have a gun there so if you could just make a better offer I'd be happy to switch it up. As I said, no horse in the race. If you guys pay me more then we have a deal. Mind you, it shouldn't be that hard to pay better than them, they're really using the patriotic card on some of those kids out there." He wasn't really going to negotiate much with someone who now had a gun aimed at him, although it was in his nature to try and get something out of a situation.[break][break]

"Ooops..." He'd say dropping another pokeball to the ground, letting out his Delphox free into between the two. He wanted a little safety while working out a good deal for himself, it was nothing personal at all. He had been in a great disavantage from the beginning with the masked stranger knowing who he is so he wanted to at least have that safety net of something that could stop a bullet between the two of them.[break][break]

It was true that a battlefield was o place for a conversation but then again, Aidan was not there to battle, he wasn't there to be some obstacle. He had been there to be there, he had stayed out of people's path for that specific reason. Sure he had inflated the number of Leaguers there but would he really count if he wasn't even meant to be found. Threats to his life were nothing new nor something he feared, he had survived in this life far longer than he had anticipated already. [break][break]

"You seem to know enough about me to know I've never had anything go my way, so far that is the only thing you've gotten wrong." How wrong he was about that. But he wasn't going to contradict someone who wasn't living or had lived in his shoes, the same way he wouldn't judge someone, after all everyone had their different motives. "Despite all of this I am willing to listen to the choices you so mercifully hand me."[break][break]

Of course what he was saying was exactly the opposite of what he had just done, although he had his reasons for letting the Delphox out. He simply disliked not having something between him and a gun. As the world and fate proceeded to shit on his cereal bowl, the kind stranger in front of him would pull out a legendary pokemon. "Of course." He'd sigh to himself taking a few steps back fully knowing this wasn't going to be pretty at all. [break][break]

"I like to think there is still good out there... We just might be too deep into shit to see it." This would have been the moment he'd light up a cigarette if he had one. Despite having one of the most negative outlooks about the world, he still liked to think there was something good out there and people like him and perhaps the stranger in front of him were only put into the world to keep a certain balance going. [break][break]

With the initial movement from the Urshifu, Aidan already knew what was coming, a wave of blows like the poor Delphox was fighting a master of kung fu. Not much could be done to save the pokemon and by the end of it. Of course it would try to defend itself, with little to no affect, it was bad to listen to it but it was even worse to see the results. The pained sounds that left the pokemon as it's life faded one hit at a time. Aidan had seen this before, death. Nothing special, sometimes the easiest way out, sometimes a mercy given to some. As the Delphox fell and breathed it's few last breaths, Aidan looking down on it, no disappointment, no anger, just pure indifference. As long as it wasn't the gengar or the scizor, the ones that had been his partners for a long time.[break][break]

Squatting down to close Delphox's eyes he'd look back towards the stranger and the Urshifu. "I'm guessing this is the consequence?" Linking the dots and the past information divulged in the conversation, he had an inkling of who he was speaking to. "Must I really swear loyalty to a organization who would turn on me as fast as that Urshifu can strike? There is a difference between me swearing loyalty to you Mr. Martin. You can promise me revenge to the ones who ruined my life but could you promise me the same if your beloved Rocket did the same? Would you turn on them just as fast if they turned on you?" Could he really trust such people with his life once again? Repeating the same mistake would be foolish.[break][break]

”I wasn’t loyal to them at first.” Aidan's belief on Mars' loyalty towards Rocket was a very interesting thing, as much as he believed that Mars' was a smart and competent person, he couldn't fully believe in another criminal organization with unknown goals filled with people who had their own secret plots to rise up to power. The distrust from Aidan lands fully on the unknown within Rocket, they didn't have good people in there, just as there weren't good people within League either but one would assume that Rocket held the members with the most twisted ideologies and the ones who would trample over others to accomplish their goals.[break][break]

"Once an accident, twice a coincidence, three times a pattern. This would be the second time my hands are forced with dealing with the devil." As far as he was aware everyone could be aiming for each others heads right about now, waiting for one domino piece to fall. "I trust your instincts. I put my life in the hands with someone who has the same goal as mine but I do not put my life in the hands of unknown factors." Aidan was likely the one person who might have known about Mars' past, that in itself bonded him enough for trust to be something that could happen.[break][break]

The smell of iron in the air, the sounds of crunching and cracking bones was a familiar sensation for Aidan, took him back to the years of working under the syndicate, perhaps the small fragments of memories being triggered were one of the things that was keeping him back from wanting to join Rocket with Mars. "I don't think anyone on either side are really willing to protect a stranger, perhaps even you aren't willing to. After all I am no stranger to you." Protection from common underlings and simple people was never something Aidan wanted but it was inevitably true that if he had faced someone as powerful as Mars was from Rocket might not be alive right now.[break][break]

Watching the Ushirfu return to it's pokeball Aidan would continue. "I would be willing to join your side for my personal reasons that you are aware of. BUT I ill be staying away from the more radical side of Rocket. Senseless violence is still senseless violence, I've dipped my foot too far into that mud before and it had never led into anything good." He knew there was some crazy people within the organization that wouldn't bat an eye when it came to ending human and pokemon life alike.[break][break]
