Their eyes locked. This is it. She thought as her gaze sternly met with jayden cross.

“Funny, you stole my line,” Elinor said retrieving a Pokéball. The Hisuian Braviary Appeared in front of her. “I shouldn’t be surprised though. Crime is the only thing Team Rocket is good for, no?”

She retrieved the Aggron the moment she saw Golduck. She wasn’t about to risk an ace against something with a type advantage. Instead, she went for more neutral terms as an Inteleon appeared in the Aggron’s stead.

Though before the fight could start on the ground. Elinor took to the skies on the back of her Hisuian Braviary. As the Rain Dance took hold, The psychic plume of energy on the Braviary’s head intensified as the predatory bird summoned forth a powerful HURRICANE aimed at Jayden and the Dragapult on which he stood.

[break][break] the HURRICANE blasts towards them with ease, as rain pelts down from the skies above, but jayden doesn't bother to dodge. there would be no point in running away, not when it had already come to this.

[break][break] they are blasted back, but jayden digs his heel into his dragapult's sound in soundless direction — they use the skills they learned from Alexei Ivanov's gym battle, and veer a sharp turn. the dragon's maw erupts into a FIRE BLAST, as jayden and his pokemon chase into the heated array. even if the councilwoman attempts to dodge, jayden will follow after her, a dagger clutched between his fingertips.

Annoyed by his rebuttal she did not deign him with a response. Perhaps because she knew that there was truth to be found amongst those words.

The Hurricane hits. The Braviary is pleased right until it sees the skills employed by Jayden to veer a sharp turn into an offensive clap-back with a Fire Blast. Elinor clutched onto her Braviary as the predatory bird quickly flapped its wings sliding to the side. Fiery red rings manifested around its beak as it exhaled a bout of MYSTICAL FIRE to clash with the Fire Blast of the Dragapult.

On the ground, Inteleon barely dodged the Psychic Blast as it glanced at his shoulder. But what stinging pain he felt did not stop him from charging at the Golduck with long nimble strides. A light blue aura of flying-type energy surrounded its silhouette as it went to try and strike the Golduck with ACROBATICS-empowered punches.

TLDR:
- Elinor is annoyed with a logical rebuttal.
- Braviary tries to dodge and counter with Mystical Fire

[break][break] "you should just give up now," he says, over the roar of rain drops pelting the sky.

[break][break] on the ground, the golduck peers at his opponent as light glows around the other water-type. his eyes narrow as the psychic attack glances by, but as the pokemon leaps forward into another assault, ala leaps back. he pushes his palms out, and a fierce cascade of MUDDY WATER meets the pokemon as it crashes down.

The two fiery attacks meet in a violent dance creating an explosion for all around them to hear. Smoke covers Elinor and her Pokémon’s vision for a brief moment. Long enough for Elinor to lose sight of Jayden, only to be met with harsh words and sharp daggers. The latter rained down upon her.

Luckily for her, a Flying Pokémon did not make an easy target for projectiles. The Braviary tried to dodge the weapons as best it could, to protect its trainer. Yet still, some blades met with the fabric of her uniform, and one, in particular, was lucky enough to taste blood from a glancing blow to her shoulder.

Red warmth began to stream into her uniform as she grimaced in pain, but her wound could wait, she had words for this hooligan. “Give up? And leave the citizens of Hoenn to the whims of tyrants?” Elinor retorted.

Braviary decided to respond in kind. With quick flaps of its wings did it send an ESPER WING attack aimed straight for Jayden’s chest.

Meanwhile, Inteleon found himself pushed away by the Muddy Water. Though it was of the same type, taking the full force of such an attack felt painful. His eyes blurred for a moment as he forced his way through the wave, letting it wash over him.

But the moment his vision was clear and the water had somewhat passed he raised his hand and formed what could best be described as a finger gun aimed straight for Golduck’s head.

In less than a second he used his SNIPER’s vision and took aim. While a small projectile of water formed at the tip of his finger. The moment it was ready, the projectile would be fired with Rock-piercing speed at the Golduck’s head.

TLDR:
- Elinor is glanced on the back of her shoulder by a dagger.
- Braviary uses Esper Wing.
- Inteleon takes the full Muddy Water and tries to use his SNIPER Ability in conjunction with Snipe Shot for a move with deadly intent.

[attr="class","textarea"] jayden was nothing if not an accurate shot. years of training underneath father's administration had made him uniquely prepared for such a task. and so it was only slightly impressive that a woman of Elinor Anderson's station would be able to dodge it; or perhaps, the credit should be given to her braviary.

[break][break] "please," he says, with a shake of his head. "that is your ego talking. if you cared at all about the citizens of hoenn, you would have relinquished long ago."

[break][break] "what kind of citizen wants to be subject to a war?"

[break][break] the esper wing comes racing towards him, and jayden knows not to wait for it to strike to discern it's strength. a sharp whistle has his dragapult veering to the side, but the attack comes quick enough that it grazes his shoulder. fabric is torn and blood seeps from the wound.

[break][break] the dragon zooms forward then with a vengeance, THUNDER bolts clapping in the skies above.

[break][break] below, the SNIPE SHOT cracks against an ICE BEAM. water turns to chips of ice, just as the golduck slides to the side. he then charges forward with a second ICE BEAM as he makes a run towards his opponent, attempting to close in.

If only Elinor knew how lucky she was. The dodge was definitely all on Braviary. Though Ranger training had taken her far compared to her old lifestyle, she was by no means even close to dodging well-aimed knives.

Adrenaline was pumping through her, and the pain dulled in the wake of Elinor’s focus. He tried to attack her with words, to seed doubt in her mind. But he would fail. Elinor had resolved herself. She saw Team Rocket as no better than Necrozma monsters hellbent on destruction. “You are the ones forcing war upon Hoenn's citizens!”

Whether Jayden heard her or not, she had said her piece.

The battle continued. Esper Wing was flung and Jayden dodged aptly, before zooming at her and the Braviary. Thunder crackled toward them. But like with the knives Braviary was quick. He couldn’t afford to take such a hit with Elinor onboard. With a flap of its wings did it dive down only to drastically steer upward once more feeling the burning of tail feathers and hindquarters as the thunder graced it.

Elinor had to cling on for dear life at the maneuver, cursing the fact that she hadn’t properly trained in aerial combat on Braviary with Josh Devlin as the sheer g-force threatened to send her off. Luckily she managed to stay on somewhat.

Braviary’s psychic plume began to once more glow as it ascended toward Jayden and his Dragapult. A draconic gale began to surround it in a TWISTER aimed straight for Jayden’s Dragapult.

Meanwhile, Sniper’s shot met with a beam of ice. The Golduck charged at Inteleon firing another Ice Beam, this one nimbly dodged as Inteleon charged forward. Water Covering hands and feet as LIQUIDATION boosted the ass-whooping Inteleon was about to deliver to Golduck, with its punches and kicks.

TLDR:
- Braviary is hit somewhat by Thunder tries to return the Favor with TWISTER
- Inteleon dodges the Ice Beam and tries to hand-to-hand Golduck with Liquidation.

[break][break] thunder claps and rain scatters. flashbangs and light utter in the sky as the braviary dodges the attack with a sharp aerial maneuver, but jayden steers his own dragapult to follow in sharp descent. he grits his teeth as they rip straight into the TWISTER, dive-bombing downwards. admist the deluge, he utters:

[break][break] "it's the league who creates resistance when none is needed."

[break][break] with a battle-cry, an INFESTATION shoots out from the dragapult. thousands of shadows worm out from it's cannons in the form of dreepy who cascade down onto the councilwoman and her companion, threatening to nip down and close in.

[break][break] "it's the league who forces war upon hoenn's citizens!"

[break][break] his attack is deftly dodged and cut off as a leg is kicked up into the air, smashing against his cheek. yet another ICE BEAM explodes from him, this time at close-range, in an attempt to freeze up the inteleon who is surrounded by it's LIQUIDATION.

Is he daft in the head? Elinor found herself amazed at how Jayden deluded himself.

The pair met amidst the twisting gales. “Liberation from The League? Are you truly so blind as to think your cause is morally justified? Look around you, who is attacking an innocent town for their own gains right now?” She found it increasingly hard to have a debate about the morals of this situation as nibbling Dreepy washed down upon her.

Braviary tried to respond but letting go of the twister and igniting fire was harder than one might expect. But soon MYSTICAL FIRE spewed forth from its beak aimed not only to roast the infestation but also Jayden and his mount.

Meanwhile, the two water types met in hand-to-hand combat. Inteleon landed a decent kick. But unfortunately, it could not dodge the ice beam at this range. The searing ice hit its abdomen sending shivering pain through his body. Yet he did his best to fight through it. Letting liquidation go on one hand to instead cover it in Dark-type energy as he sent in a cheap SUCKER PUNCH aimed at Golduck’s beak.

TLDR:

[break][break] fire crackles around the dreepy who is infesting the braviary, encasing them in flames. however, the minute that a group are scorched, it seems that a group of more follow-suit. the infestation of shadow-dreepy seems to only continue, nipping at the councilwoman's flesh and her pokemon's.

“I have the Citizens of Hoenn’s best interests at heart!” She could not answer for the League for it was an organization made up of many cogs. “I read each letter that reaches my office. And I know, some people aren’t happy with our choices! But we can’t make everyone happy!” She paused wafting away more of those annoying pests.

“But that won’t stop us from trying to bring safety and stability to as many as possible!”

Sure to be empty words in the eyes of someone who had already fallen into darkness. Yet her voice still carried with it the strength of her faith. Elinor would make sure the people of Hoenn were safe, no matter the cost.

Another explosion happened in the air.

For all her intentions it seemed Jayden held the edge in this battle. She had to do a tactical retreat, perhaps even regroup with Alexei Ivanov

Using the smoke from the Explosion as cover the Braviary dived towards the ground. Quickly latching onto the Inteleon who was falling victim to the Golduck’s Psychic power.

With its teammate secured the Braviary tried to fly away.

Hands curled into fists in frustration. She took one last look backward making sure Jayden was not following. But as her eyes returned to her front she saw sights of the bloodbath happening on the ground. Rocket Grunts met with League Personnel, and in some instances stubborn civilians. While fighting was still happening, she saw many whose lives had already been lost to the battle.

She had failed them. She had been defeated.

Anger washed over her. She would not let that happen again.
