[attr="class","aurelie_lyrics"]Star light, star bright, first star that falls tonight
[attr="class","aurelie_body"]The patio of the Bubble, Bubble Tea, and Trouble café was aglow with strings of shimmering paper lanterns and abuzz with activity as Aurelie strolled up to the entrance. Her friend and very first customer in Hoenn, , had organized an evening of tea, stargazing, and traditional Ecruteak culture at her boba café, perhaps inspired in part by recent reports of out-of-season starfalls and shooting stars during the past month. The red-haired smith's expression was openly admiring as she looked over the beautiful arrangements, from the bouquets of autumn flowers and leaves and the artfully scattered origami stars to the lacquered trays holding porcelain cups and tea pots and the appetizing repast of fruit tarts, ice cream, crepes, and other delicacies spread across the low bamboo tables.

As someone who knew very little about Ecruteak culture, Aurelie had decided to attend to both support her friend and to expand her own knowledge of other regions. Evidently, the opportunity to learn, eat, and stargaze had attracted many others, judging from the small but enthusiastic crowd of people flitting across the patio. Like a good hostess, Xiura was there on the patio as well, greeting everyone who came with a warm smile and a few charming words of welcome.

Aurelie flashed her a smile and approached for a quick hello. "This looks amazing! You've outdone yourself, Xiura," she declared sincerely. "And the weather looks to be perfect for star watching," she added, tilting her head back to gaze at the clear, cloudless night sky overhead.

"I just hope that you have a chance to relax and enjoy yourself too," she went on, her expression softening as she looked at Xiura. "Let me know if there's anything I can do to help out somehow."

Another person came toward Xiura to compliment her on the decorations and theme, so Aurelie politely excused herself and wandered away toward one of the tables. This one displayed a variety of rice-paper scrolls spectacularly painted with watercolor images of different constellations. The red-haired smith marveled at their elegance and artistry, though a shudder ran through her as she was reminded of the meteoroid rushing toward Hoenn.

She sighed and shook her head fiercely, as if trying to cast off the unhappy thought. There would be time to worry about the meteoroid's impact and the deadly consequences later. Tonight was meant to be devoted to culture, conviviality, learning, and enjoyment, not worry or confusion.

From the corner of her eye, Aurelie spied a streak of light flashing across the night sky and smiled. It looked like the shooting star shower must be starting already. It truly looked like a perfect evening for a lovely, tranquil celebration at the café.

Xiura took a moment to adjust the sleeve of her traditional Ecruteak ensemble: a kimono with an obi, the weighty fabric both familiar and comforting as it encompassed her in a medley of shooting stars and constellations upon a backdrop of cobalt blue. With a welcoming smile, Xiura bowed before the next guest, ushering them onto the patio of the cafe to have a seat. A group of people raised their hands to wave, and the newcomer scurried towards them, clearly their friend.

The night was a promising one for starfalls, glittering trails of stardust following bright points of light in the dark sky. Clefairy and Froslass trailed between tables, passing out steaming porcelain cups of matcha to the guests. Incineroar was in the back, preparing trays of traditional mitarashi dango, glutinous rice dumplings coated with a sweet soy glaze to add to the other culinary sweets on the tables.

When arrived, Xiura was quick to express her delight: "Aurelie! It's great to see you! And yes, the weather has been very kind so far." Xiura clapped her hands together in a small prayer to whatever weather spirits were looking down upon them tonight.

"I'll be sure to relax at some point during the night," Xiura promised, though she knew she felt obligated to manage everything so all would run smoothly. It was just a matter of entrusting the rest of the night to her loyal Pokemon helpers, who were wonderful, to be sure, but her first cafe-hosted event had to be simply perfect.

As Aurelie wandered off, Xiura found herself accepting greetings and profuse compliments from another loyal customer. She bowed low in thanks, a flush of happiness and fulfillment overcoming her.

"Roar." Incineroar came up and growled, a tray of dango in either hand.

"Thank you, Incineroar, they look perfect! I hope you set some aside for yourself and the others." He nodded, huffing slightly as he carted the trays over to a nearby table, but not before Xiura could snag a couple.

"Here you go," she said, setting a pair of small plates down before Aurelie and herself. "Please enjoy! They're sweet rice dumplings. And please try everything! Incineroar and Hatterene worked so hard." She laughed, remembering: "Hatterene was using her telekinesis to put fruit in the crepes, and was getting upset that Incineroar was adding too much fruit to them. A couple of them are filled to bursting, so whoever gets those is in for a nice surprise."

[attr="class","aurelie_lyrics"]STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT, FIRST STAR THAT FALLS TONIGHT
[attr="class","aurelie_body"]"Incineroar, you are a culinary genius," Aurelie exclaimed delightedly, reaching for one of the small plates of dainty, pastel-colored dango that Xiura placed before her. "In addition to being a phenomenal dancer, no less. These look so pretty, I almost don't want to eat them!"

Then, with a playful grin breaking across her face, the red-haired smith promptly plucked a skewer off the plate and popped a single delicate ball of glossy, celadon-green dango into her mouth. "Well, I said 'almost', not 'actually'," she said with a wink, chewing the glutinous rice dumpling in her mouth. "Ooh, is that green tea? That's delicious."

She ate another dango piece as she admired the feast laid out for the occasion, chuckling at Xiura's story behind the making of the fruit crepes. "I can just picture Hatterene trying to make all the crepes perfect and Incineroar enthusiastically putting his all into the crepes—probably more than he needed to." With a soft smile, Aurelie added, "You are so fortunate to have such close friendships with your Pokemon, Xiura. I envy you a little."

Tilting her head toward the night sky, Aurelie found herself reflecting a little on the relationships that could exist between trainers and their Pokemon. Some saw them as tools, some as beloved pets and companions, and others still as true partners whose lives were inextricably bound with their own. She caught sight of a familiar constellation and looked back toward Xiura. "You and your Pokemon remind me of an old Kalosian fairy tale about a kind and clever girl who helped animals in need, and they helped her in return to find a great fortune and become a rich noblewoman."

She pointed toward the stars that she'd been looking at. "See those stars there, the vertical line that ends in a wavy curl at the bottom? That's supposed to be the girl and her animal friends at her feet. I wonder if there's a similar Ecruteak story about that constellation, or if the story your homeland tells about it are quite different."

Aurelie frowned as an unexpected shower of stars shot across the constellation she was pointing out, looking somewhat—closer to earth than she would've expected from shooting stars. Most of the time, they just looked like distant streaks of light in the sky. These shooting stars, on the other hand, looked like they were shooting from directly overhead in the sky.

"Looks like the star showers are starting already," she commented a little uncertainly. Just as the words left her, there was a sudden series of sharp clattering noises on the balcony behind them, as though someone were throwing rocks across the ground. Turning around at once, so quickly that she nearly dropped her dango skewer, Aurelie wondered aloud, "What was that?"

Xiura poured a steaming cup of green matcha for Aurelie, setting the cup close to her so that she could partake of the refreshment. She sat down next to Aurelie at one of the low tables on one of the dark blue cushions providing ample comfortable seating.
[break][break]
"You and your Pokemon remind me of an old Kalosian fairy tale about a kind and clever girl who helped animals in need, and they helped her in return to find a great fortune and become a rich noblewoman."
[break][break]
Xiura looked up to the sky, affected by the wistful tone to her dear friend Aurelie’s words. It was true that she loved and cared for her Pokemon very much, and wanted to provide everything she could for them so that they could be happy. She owed them that and more, for agreeing to stay by her side all these years, through the good and the bad.
[break][break]
“Ah, Aurelie. Don’t envy me,” she said, leaning briefly into Aurelie’s side in a kind half-hug, before digging into one of the dango appetizers herself. “We see each other so often, they think of you as their friend, too.” As if on cue, Froslass sparkled by, placing a fresh plate of taiyaki on their table, greeting Aurelie with a fresh, cooling mist of ice crystals.
[break][break]

[break][break]
As Aurelie recounted the tale of the girl and her Pokemon, Xiura followed the line of Aurelie’s arm, trying to spot the constellation she was pointing out. She recognized it, though her story was a little different from Aurelie’s. “Oh, that one! That’s a beautiful story. I’m touched that it reminds you of me,” she said humbly but sincerely. She couldn’t help but giggle before saying, “In our version, the animal friends introduce her to an empress; they become friends and that’s how the girl comes to own so many worldly possessions.”
[break][break]
Xiura was in the middle of tearing in half a piece of taiyaki in half when she noticed that Aurelie sounded a little worried.
[break][break]
"Looks like the star showers are starting already.”
[break][break]
Xiura turned around with Aurelie, just as a mighty crashing sound reached her ears. She was surprised to see a meteor-like contraption plummet with astonishing speed into the sleek boards of the patio, accompanied by the sound of crunching and splintering wood.
[break][break]
The small meteor groaned with a high-pitched groan not unlike the creak of the boards, and then it rolled out of its self-made pit. “Minior,” it squeaked.
[break][break]
Battered and bruised, the meteor Pokemon started levitating, pieces of its cracked outer layer falling from its body. Many of the event attendees gasped, getting up from their tables as if unsure to leave or stay. At the sight of its apparent audience, the Minior squeaked in alarm, flying off into the cafe.
[break][break]
"Oh no!" Xiura gasped, alarmed at the thought of a wild, possibly panicking Pokemon in the middle of her cafe with all its comparatively fragile accouterments, built more for aesthetic than sturdiness. She got up from the table, intending to follow it inside, but then another crash in front of them stopped her in her tracks.
[break][break]
"Another?" she said in disbelief as the newly-arrived Minior rose, its cracked exterior spinning rapidly in agitation. To her dismay, this one seemed more inclined to fight than flee.

[attr="class","aurelie_lyrics"]STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT, FIRST STAR THAT FALLS TONIGHT
[attr="class","aurelie_body"]Tilting her head lazily to one side, Aurelie smiled softly to hear the version of the old fairytale that Xiura knew of the kind girl who helped animals. Admittedly, most of the redhead's attention was focused on the plate of pastries that Xiura's Froslass had brought over, covered with fish-shaped pastries. Without thinking, Aurelie devoured her dango and took a piece of taiyaki, curious what it would taste like but quite certain it would taste good.

"You should really get back to your other guests," she started to say, when suddenly something landed right beside Xiura, crashing into the patio and cracking the wooden boards. Aurelie flinched. The taiyaki dropped unnoticed from her fingers.

Leaping to her feet, Aurelie stared in shocked confusion when she saw the Minior rolling on the ground. Gasps and screams echoed behind her as other guests recovered from their surprise and started to flee. The Minior too fled, whirring off toward the café, to Xiura's visible distress.

When another Minior arrived, Aurelie instinctively reached out to grab Xiura and pull her out of the way. Though her errant grab at Xiura missed, thankfully the café owner stopped in her tracks just in time as the Minior levitated above the ground. Instead of flying away, though, this one hovered in place, its eyes glowing fiercely at the two women.

"What the hell..." Aurelie breathed. "Miniors falling from the sky? What is going on here?"

Then, she took a deep breath and shook herself forcibly as if to shake off her stunned stupor. Stepping in front of Xiura, she pushed the other woman firmly toward the café. "Go! Go! Take care of your café and chase the Minior outside. I'll deal with this one."

Aurelie didn't look to see if Xiura heeded her instruction or not. She balled her fists, trying to think of how she would handle this random fallen Minior. It seemed ready for a fight, and the red-haired smith sorted rapidly through the Pokemon she had with her, wondering which could defeat it.

On the other hand... In a way, the Minior was innocent in all this. Perhaps it hadn't meant to fall in the middle of Xiura's stargazing party, and if so, Aurelie certainly couldn't blame it for being disoriented and angry. Arceus, if it were her crashing into a patio by accident, with no idea of where she was or who these people staring at her were, Aurelie would probably be coming up punching and kicking too.

With this thought in mind, Aurelie reached not for a Steel-type but instead for her Delphox, releasing the elegant vulpine Pokemon in the middle of the patio. "Fiametta, try HYPNOSIS, please," she murmured in a low voice. "Let's hope putting it to sleep will work..."

Too distraught over the potential damage to her shop to protest Aurelie's instructions, Xiura nodded and rushed into the cafe. Incineroar and Froslass followed after in close pursuit, ready to help her.
[break][break]
Swinging her gaze around the room to each and every corner from ceiling to floor, Xiura still could not find the Minior in the main room of the cafe. But—
[break][break]
"Froslass!" Her ice-type Pokemon hovered over a small indent and dusting of sediment against the wall leading up the stairs.
[break][break]
"Good eye, Froslass," Xiura managed to comment, though her worry increased. The stairs led to the upstairs hallway. Her bedroom with all her personal belongings was down that hallway, though the door was usually closed and locked. "It must have gone upstairs."
[break][break]
Incineroar, not to be outdone, sniffed the air and bounded up the stairs after the Minior's scent. "Roar!"
[break][break]
Xiura winced as she heard a crash of presumably glass. "Incineroar! Be careful! Froslass, please, see if you can immobilize the Minior before it or Incineroar can do anything else." She gestured at Froslass, who raced upstairs to stop Incineroar from causing more mayhem.
[break][break]
Xiura, slower than her Pokemon, hurried upstairs as well, only to come upon a ridiculous sight. The Minior was up in the rafters of the wooden building, Incineroar trying to jump and climb one of the supporting wooden poles in order to chase the Minior. Froslass hovered nearby, as if uncertain whether to try and help Incineroar up the beam or to chase the Minior. "Don't you dare use a fire attack," Xiura warned loudly, just in case.
[break][break]
Incineroar harumphed in indignation, glaring briefly at Xiura. "I know, of course you wouldn't, but still. Be careful!" she called out.

[attr="class","aurelie_lyrics"]STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT, FIRST STAR THAT FALLS TONIGHT
[attr="class","aurelie_body"]With Xiura and her Pokemon headed indoors to deal with the Minior wreaking havoc in the cafe, Aurelie focused all her attention on the single stranded Minior on the patio. Her Delphox waved the stick it used as a wand, sending waves of hypnotic suggestion toward the aggressive Pokemon. Aurelie couldn't resist murmuring aloud, "You're getting veeeery sleepy..."

Unfortunately, neither her murmuring nor the Delphox's HYPNOSIS worked. The Minior shook off the soporific effects and then began spinning rapidly in mid-air. The breeze it created was strong enough to push several more plates of Xiura's treats off the closest table, resulting in spectacular splatters of food across the patio.

Aurelie dove forward in hopes of catching some of the falling food but only succeeded in getting some of the sauce splashed on her on its way down. At least, none of the plates had shattered, to her relief. Still, she couldn't help slapping her forehead with the palm of her hand and getting soy sauce on her face.

The Minior then lashed out at her Delphox with a display of ANCIENT POWER. The attack sent the fiery vulpine Pokemon reeling back with an agonized cry. As it wavered on its feet, Aurelie ran toward it and fumbled in her pockets for a Hyper Potion.

"Oh no! Are you all right?" she asked worriedly, administering the spray-like potion to the Delphox and eyeing the Minior balefully. "Maybe we should be attacking this thing. I hate how much damage it's doing..."

To her surprise, the Delphox breathed deeply and shook its head at Aurelie, gesturing toward the Minior with its wand. Interpreting the motion as something like "No, let me handle this," Aurelie nodded slowly and took a respectful step back. The Delphox faced the Minior again and raised its wand.

The Minior attempted to preemptively coil into a DEFENSE CURL. However, the Delphox waved its wand again and used, not an offensive attack, but HYPNOSIS again. Taken off guard, the Minior's eyes flickered and then dimmed into serene blackness as this time, the move worked and it fell asleep.

"Oh, thank Arceus," Aurelie breathed. "Fiametta, you did fantastic. Thank you so much."

Bending forward, she took out an empty Pokeball and captured the sleeping Minior. Then she looked up in concern at the sky, wondering if any more would be falling from the sky. Aurelie could see the streaks of light falling to earth as Miniors fell elsewhere in Lilycove City, making her wonder if her own shop was undamaged. For now, though, thankfully, Xiura's café patio didn't receive any more unwanted visitors.

Still holding the Pokeball, with her healed Delphox walking alertly beside her, Aurelie hesitantly walked over to the café door. Poking her head in, she looked around and called, "Xiura? Are you okay? Do you need help?"
