There was no getting around it. This damned forest, blocking off the farther plains where KLINK were apt to gather. It was the most direct route there... but still a pain to traverse. Especially when there were skulking tricksters amongst the branches and vines.

Barnaby could hear them skuttling around, leaves crunching underfoot, but was having such difficulty spotting them. Considering the KECLEON from his last visit, he figured it was more of the same. Perhaps they remembered him, too, and were seeking revenge for their lost brethren?

Whatever the case, he knew an example needed to be made before an entire gang of invisible lizards ambushed him.

"Isobel," Barnaby said in a low voice, his gaze sliding from one tree to the next until he found the telltale red band of a KECLEON. "Now! Dragon Breath!"

Again, hubris was KECLEON's downfall, as it thought it's disguise was perfect enough to evade notice. Unfortunately for the lizard, Isobel's DRAGON BREATH hit it square in the stomach, knocking it back into the tree it was blending in to. An audible gasp escaped the KECLEON before it slumped to the earth, knocked out.

Barnaby lobbed a Safari Ball soon after and then continued on his way. Just as he'd thought, the other KECLEON skulking about decided not to engage with him further once they recognized his power.

Too bad other Pokémon in the woods didn't take the hint.

On the cusp of exiting the forest, Barnaby suddenly smelled something repulsive. He wasn't fast enough to react, however, before a giant wad of shit struck his AMPHAROS on her back. Her poor pink fleece was subsequently stained and disgusting.

What the actual fuck.

Whirling around, Barnaby saw a MANKEY doubled over on a nearby branch, laughing hysterically.

Little fucker.

From his coat Barnaby retrieved a different Poké Ball. As was soon revealed to the MANKEY, an unusually-colored TALONFLAME resided within. Colombe was not a bird to be messed with. Her fiery countenance matched her fierce personality.

"Aerial Ace."

Colombe's speed was an incredible feat. Her quarry was caught completely off-guard... enough that it was unable to escape the raptor's piercing talons. Blood seeping between her toes, she gripped the MANKEY by it's arm and drug it to the ground in front of Barnaby. Another quick Safari Ball took care of the rest.

He continued on. Finally, the light that filtered between the branches above him began to increase in intensity until there was nothing left to block it. They'd left the forest behind.

The plains ahead were as they had been during his last trip - open, rocky, somewhat easier to traverse than the wood he'd just exited. Barnaby scanned the land behind him and the horizon, looking for the telltale shine of metal in the afternoon sun.

There. A KLINK midway day a sloping hill.

Colombe would make quick work of this one as well.

"Go. Flame Charge."
