“Yeah let's hope so!” Elinor dared not get her hopes up.

She was wise not to do so because the next Pokémon to appear was not of Paldean origin either.

This one was a Nidorina.

The Poison type didn’t seem aggressive at all. In fact, it seemed to try and CAPTIVATE the eyes of Kommo-o and trainer alike. Performing what could best be described as some form of interpretive dancing.

But even though the Pokémon moved about. Elinor was quick to notice how thin it was, the weakness in its movements. It seemed this dancing HUSTLE of hers weren’t paying off.

The performance came to an end.

Honestly Elinor didn’t know how to respond, so she lumped a Pokéball at it and hoped that it would stay in so she could give it some real proper food.

“So, besides all the Paldean Pokémon, how many do you need before your Pokédex is complete?”

not a paldean pokemon, but at least they're from kanto, arguably the better region. just kidding, matias has no real love for kanto as he mostly had bad memories about it. he wants to visit paldea, though. maybe he will soon.[break][break]

With one Pokémon richer, she turned her attention to Matias as he replied.

His answer surprised her. If he truly had one of every evolutionary line. “That is a lot of Pokémon…” She mumbled. Though by now she owned way past a hundred Pokémon. So maybe she ought not speak too loudly.

“Honestly. I don’t know. I haven’t checked, but perhaps I ought to.” Her Pokédex was more often than not left at home. She figured letting experience be the teacher was the better option. After all, she wouldn’t always have the Pokédex to rely on.

A Skipbloom tried to skip past them. Alas, unfortunately for it Grass types were in short supply among Elinor’s hoard. And so, without further ado she gestured for her Kommo-o to catch it for her.

Matias gave wise counsel.

A muttered “True.” soon followed as the Kommo-o returned with the captured Skiploom which was quickly placed in an empty ball.

“Honestly, I’ve run into a bit of the same problem. Too many Pokémon and not enough time to train them all.” She hated playing favorites, but there was simply no way to personally train them, and yet here she was adding another one to her collection.

“What do you do with those you haven’t deemed worth training?” Elinor asked curiously. Though she feared that he simply abandoned them to some lab.

A Simisage ran by. Realizing that it’d fit nicely along with its fire counterpart, she once more gestured for the Kommo-o to hunt a Grass-type down.

And the Kommo-o was all too eager to do that, much to the Simisage’s dislike.

She gave Matias an acknowledging nod. Even with his reputation, cruelty of that type didn’t seem to fit his image.

And then she listened to his explanation. “A wise choice. Honestly, I am embarrassed to admit that it took me far too long to realize that investing in a ranch would be a wise choice, so I’ve only recently come into possession of my own, and its operations are still being properly set up.”

Even with people frantically selling out during the Meteno-crisis. Moving the kind of money needed for such a purchase, and properly setting up operations still took far longer than Elinor had anticipated.

“I presume you and Eva Morales have people taking care of it when you aren’t around?” Elinor asked.

Meanwhile a curious Treecky snuck up to Elinor and the Kommo-o that had returned with the grass-monkey. Fearing that it might well be next, it prostrates itself before them, hoping to garner favor with these forces of nature.

“Yeah you are right, I do need to make sure as few people knows about it as possible.” Elinor admitted. Safety was ever always a concern she didn’t put much thought into. So confident were she in her own strength as a trainer. And yet for a moment she pondered what the proper number of people knowing about it would be.

“And don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.” Though that probably went without saying.

A few rustling leaves nearby alerted her to fleeing Pokémon. But she did not spot whether it was fluttering bug wings or slimy poison that tried to run. Either way she did not set her Pokémon to pursue.
