Reports had trickled in after the fact. Talk of a giant beyond comprehension that wielded ice and snow, among other incomprehensible powers. KYUREM. It had had turned this swath of land past Oldale Town into a frozen tundra, it had encased a myriad of Pokémon into impenetrable, icy coffins.

And as Barnaby’s eyes swept over the scene, which looked like a hellish caricature of a White Christmas park, all he felt was a cold chill run down his spine that rivaled the gelid temperature of his surroundings.

Barnaby descended down into the Silent Icelands, feeling a big chill coming on the further he progressed into the frigid meadow. He pulled his coat around him as he walked, his eyes traveling from one gruesome ice-encased Pokémon to another.

He paused at a particularly large crystal. Within he could make out two Pokémon embroiled in a battle that had been frozen in time. Briefly, Barnaby wondered what became of their trainers. Had they perished in this fight as well?

It was surprising how quickly Ice-type Pokémon had moved in to this new, more colder Hoenn. In the distance Barnaby could see a group of VANILLUXE floating together, but he paid no mind to the ice cream-shaped creatures.

Instead, Barnaby continued deeper into the Silent Icelands, where he could see an even greater amount of crystalline structures jutting from the frozen ground.

He passed dozens upon dozens of Pokémon frozen in time - some in the throes of agony, others looking as if they had simply fallen asleep. The entire field was covered, yet it was hard to discern an origin point. Was there one? A question Barnaby pondered to himself until a surprised squeak! caught his attention.

Looking over, he saw a BERGMITE squished between to icy columns, apparently stuck and wriggling to get free.

"Now how did you end up like that?" Barnaby asked the distressed Pokémon as he approached. It's wiggling became a little more frantic, but luckily it didn't try to attack as Barnaby began attempting to shimmy it free. Once there was some give, eventually he was able to wrest it free from where it had been stuck.
