After Shalin discovered even her own limits with Flit's newfound Terastal power, she had to take a break from flying on her bug Pokémon. While she liked the intensity, even she had her breaking point, whether it be mental, or in her case, physical. Had that empowered BUG BUZZ lasted any longer while she was at the Ultra Desert, she would have suffered more than temporary, if strong, discomfort. She could even feel it in her thighs a little to this day. That wasn't going to stop her from figuring out how to best use Flit's new power, though!

The great big Yanmega floated above Kiku, the Skuntank Shalin was astride bounding toward a light similar to what the buzzing bug was enveloped in that day she went trailblazing in the Ultra Desert. This one was a different color: rather than the light green she had seen before, the light sparkled a tan color. Two flashes of light followed by Probopass cry was all she needed to accelerate toward Ned Clark and his fallen Pokémon, her Poison-type steed holding back his musk to make sure neither one of them would be overwhelmed by the stench the species was known for. "Are you two alright?" she asked, the Terastal Zangoose eying them both warily.

With the young man in trouble, Shalin had to take action. "Kiara!" she cried, releasing the lioness from her Poké Ball to aid Cobalt in taking the Terastal Zangoose down. Seeing she was dealing with a Terastal Pokémon, Shalin pulled out her own TERA ORB. The fire-type, briefly encased in clear, white crystal, let out a roar. The TERA JEWEL on her forehead, a brilliant diamond, glowed with NORMAL-type energy.

"HYPER VOICE, Kiara!" the feline's trainer shouted. Her Terastal body amplified the forthcoming bellow as though she was in front of a microphone. The shockwave would have blown the Zangoose off its feet if it weren't for her RIVALRY being held back by the wild's masculinity. The Zangoose wasn't going to back down so easily, matching Shalin's Terastal might with that of its own. The foe's slashing BRICK BREAK seemed to slice right through the cat's outer body, white and tan-colored firework-like light shows surrounding the two. Both were on their last legs. "So it's the little gem on their heads!" the girl deduced. There was a lot to learn about Terastallization, and she would need to figure it out before Team Rocket struck next!

The Metagross' ZEN HEADBUTT and the shape of the jewel resembling a boxing glove cued Shalin to the Terastal phenomenon transforming the wild Zangoose into a Fighting-type Pokémon. No wonder Kiara was in such bad shape! The wild, desperate to dispatch Ned's Metagross, cupped its claws together and charged up a FOCUS BLAST among them, hurling it toward the steel-type. Its crystal body shattered after the tremendous effort, the fearsome wild down.

It was over.

"Phew, wild Terastal Pokémon are scary!" Shalin panted, Kiku walking toward Kiara, whose own crystal body was starting to crack after the beating the Pyroar had taken. "With them being far more common than expected, they're something trainers without a TERA ORB really should stay away from." She breathed a deep sigh of relief. If that went on any more, her Pyroar could have been seriously hurt. "Thanks for saving me! Name's Shalin, wildest Pokémon rider this side of Hoenn!" she intoduced herself to the young, talented trainer. "These two are Kiku and Kiara," she introduced the Skuntank and Pyroar, respectively.

"Great to meet you, Ned!" Shalin answered with a smile, her Skuntank mount sniffing around the collapsed wild, then Ned and Cobalt. "Don't mind Kiku; she's a curious one but doesn't mean any harm." She knew how off-putting and eye-twitching a Skuntank mount could be; after all, who would dare to sit on a creature that could reek something vile at any moment?

It seemed Ned was curious how to Terastallize his Pokémon. "I'll try to show you the best I can. Flit, you come on out, too!" She sent out a third Pokémon: a Yanmega that was quite a bit larger than normal but not to the extreme the Skuntank was for his kind. The giant bug wore riding gear not dissimilar to what the rest of her Pokémon wore. "There's two steps to it. First, you need to find one of these," she showed Ned the spent TERA ORB she had picked up after the battle. "Enough of that crystal fell on November 18... a day that will live in infamy..." she paused, thinking about how Hoenn had nearly been wiped off the face of the earth that day. "Anyway, there's enough of that crystal that fell, that you could probably scrounge enough of it to get one crafted, or even just buy one. The store-bought ones aren't cheap, though; I was fortunate enough to stumble into mine. That's step one."

Next, she pointed to the TERA JEWELs poking out of the foreheads of the two Pokémon: a shining, diamond-shaped one from the Pyroar, and one shaped like a bug's antennae from the Yanmega. "You need to have your TERA ORB, and your Pokémon needs to have a TERA JEWEL. If you have both, then you can Terastallize your Pokémon."

"You're welcome," Shalin answered. "One word of caution, though; you have to be really careful when you use it. When you Terastallize one of your Pokémon, you can't do it again, even a different one of your Pokémon, for a little over a day." There was enough latent Primal Energy from the crystals that rained down on Hoenn that the orbs would recharge themselves over time. Research on how to manually charge them was in its mere infancy.

"Right, I never got the chance to," the Skuntank's rider blushed. "Shalin, wildest Pokémon rider this side of Hoenn! I run a little side business called Nariya Expeditions, taking people to the far reaches of Hoenn that your commercial safari guides won't go anywhere near. There's almost no place in Hoenn I can't take you." She would agree to exchange confact information if prompted. "Great to meet, Ned! I hope we cross paths again. Need a ride back to town?" she asked, scooting forward on the rather large poison-type.
