Something was hunting humans in the dark and mysterious bamboo forests of ROUTE 120. One of Remiel's personal staff from the GALARIAN EMBASSY, a man who collected wild bonsai trees, had disappeared here. So, obligated to come and search for the gentleman, the royal set off with a small troop of dedicated FALINKS in tow.

The bamboo forest in the snow was certainly quite a sight. With shadowy figures lurking in the bushes and hiding behind rocky outcrops, however, one could not stand to simply enjoy it for too long. The forest itself seemed to compel anyone who entered it to be on edge always. Even Remiel found himself hypersensitive to every sound and every gust of wind.

having lost one personnel to the mysterious bamboo forests, theo decides to investigate himself to see whether or not this forest is cause for concern or if it's simply a distraction from a multitude of more logical reasons.[break][break]

he brushes past long stalks of bamboo, keeping mostly to himself as he scans the area. the last thing he wants is to be caught off guard and end up like said personnel. to survive wars only to die to a bamboo forest. that would be funny.[break][break]

The forest reminded him of an old samurai movie set. He used to watch those movies with his father when he was a child. It had been one of their closest pastimes, and part of the reason he had taken such interest in martial arts in the first place. His mother had insisted on fencing, and he had practiced it well and participated in contests for it...

But he'd always been more enamored with kendo.

If he'd brought his sword here today and wasn't looking for a fellow Galarian, Remiel might have stopped to practice. Instead, he continues onward with an open eye, scaring away a VULLABY that had been pecking around in the dirt.

eventually, the stalks of bamboo become too thick for him to simply push through. so he takes a step back, then nods at his lurantis.[break][break]

the grass-type springs forward, LEAF BLADES sharp as ever as it begins slicing through, paving a path for them. it leads the way with theo staying closely behind.[break][break]

but his lurantis stops, LEAF BLADE raised over a bunnelby that seems stuck in the bamboo despite its LASER FOCUS. feeling sorry for it, he throws a pokeball at it before moving on.

They find a river that cuts straight through the scenic bamboo forest. They also find a path of stones that leads straight across it. As his troop of Falinks begin to do so, however, a CARVANHA leaps out to try and BITE one of them.

The attack proves successful but is swiftly COUNTERED by another. The strike that follows proves to be super-effective, sending the piranha flying toward shore. When it lands, it flops around for a bit before falling unconscious. Remiel then pulls out an empty Luxury Ball to catch it with a toss.

bamboos are sliced before him, parting enough to allow for an easy trek through the forest before he eventually breaks into a river. he pauses, taking a moment to listen to the ambiance of the forest. the serenity of it all. such a rare thing to find.[break][break]

then he turns to the left and carries on, ignoring the krokorok that is for some reason chilling in the water. maybe it's trying to flex its SWAGGER?

A BIDOOF emerges from that same river, seemingly thankful that they'd taken care of the aggressive Carvanha that had been terrorizing its home. Unfortunately, Remiel's troop of Falinks view the little furball as another threat to deal with. The strike it with a MEGAHORN, sending it flying until it hits a tree unconscious.

Remiel clicks his tongue disapprovingly, wagging a finger at his troop while the other hand produces an empty Luxury Ball from his pack. "We're going to have to work on that, LEGION," He scolds them, casting the ball at the Bidoof.

suddenly, his lurantis stops, holding a single leaf-blade up which tells theo to do the same. he pauses, listening to their surroundings only to hear a crack of bamboo off to the side. another. and then another.[break][break]

he strides back, avoiding the THRASHING ursaring that breaks clear of the bamboos. it LEERS, roaring as it charges right at theo.[break][break]

lurantis's LEAF BLADE swipes at the back of its leg, bringing it down to a knee before a pokeball captures it.

It's like looking in a mirror. Remiel's troop of Falinks runs into another troop of Falinks. In fact, they're seemingly identical. They bear the same sigils, anyway. They stare at each other curiously; inspect each other slowly.

The only thing giving these imposters away is the lack of coordination between them. They're bumping into each other and tripping over their feet. Remiel wisens up fairly quickly, and orders CLOSE COMBAT. Afterward, the ILLUSION falls, revealing the ZOROARK behind the deception. The prince pulls out an empty ball and casts it.

deciding to abandon the path, they veer left to venture back into the thick of the bamboo forest. whatever it is must reside within, not outside.[break][break]

he stops at the sight of a familiar glimmer. he taps his finger against the wet spot on the bamboo, recognizing it to be some sort of POISON.[break][break]

hearing movement, he takes a step away, then peers down to notice the shroodle. it does not last long against leavanny's LEAF BLADE and soon disappears into a pokeball.
