matias runs the risk of sounding like a karen but he doesn't care. he will go to great lengths for his friends.[break][break]

a sharpdeo's fin pokes out of the water, cutting through as it makes its way past them.

Lam’s eyes narrow, a touch skeptical as he murmurs, “If you’re sure…”[break][break]

Still, he pockets the pokeball. “I’m sure that’s not true. Next one’s all yours.” His hand lifts in oath like he’s some boy scout or whatever.[break][break]

A slowbro waves up at his pelipper from the sandy shore, as the bird glides overhead.[break][break]

But Lam’s eyes are fixed on Matias, wide with trepidation. “Why you wanna do that?”[break][break]

Self-consciousness prickles at the back of his neck, warming his ears. Was it something really worth going to great lengths for? Lam was uncertain, despite having tried multiple times now himself.

"because i'd like to find out why they aren't allowing one of their employees to showcase their art. it's a fucking gallery, i'm sure there's space for one or two more."[break][break]

and if not, then he'll make sure they make space.[break][break]

drakloak's CURSED BODY is the only reason why matias doesn't reach out to touch it. he'd hate to be cursed more than he already is.[break][break]

what he does do, however, is offer it a berry, and when it's least suspecting he lunges out with a pokeball to snap it up.

“I mean, you’re not wrong. But the place is sort of tacky anyway. It’s not like..I dunno. It’s not the end of the world.” He’s used to deflecting, placating. It comes naturally, like breathing.[break][break]

His eyes drift up, catching sight of his pelipper nearly colliding with a second one that’s crossed her path. oop.[break][break]

“I guess I’m surprised you’re this riled up about it,” he admits with a laugh, still looking up toward the sky. “Not that that’s a bad thing, just wasn’t expecting it.”[break][break]

Non-confrontational or not, he still kinda appreciates the willingness to go bat for him, anyway.

no, it isn't the end of the world but still it is an injustice he simply cannot overlook. he's compelled to fix this situation. to right a wrong.[break][break]

"you were gonna find out sooner or later that i fight for my friends."[break][break]

is that what they are, then? he'd say so. they've spent enough time together for lam to qualify as one. it's not like matias has many.[break][break]

pelipper's DRIZZILE dampens the scene.[break][break]

his noivern's BOOMBURST knocks it out of the sky, falling right into a pokeball.

The response he's given is somehow one that he doesn't expect. But before he can say anything, he's distracted.[break][break]

A shadow casts itself over the boat and Lam looks up to see the salamence passing overhead. With the air misty from that pelipper's drizzle, his shinx's THUNDER charges through the air and threatens to bring the dragon down on top of them far easier than it normally might have.[break][break]

He tosses a ball straight up into the air to prevent the crash from rocking the boat.[break][break]

Interruption out of the way, he looks at Matias with a mild grin. A hair sheepish. "Thanks. It's not what I would do, obviously, or I would have by now, but I appreciate that."[break][break]

Despite his laid back personality, Lam doesn't have all too many friends, either. He's always sort of been that way. Not exactly shy, but not all that outgoing, either. Content to let the world move around him while he observes. "I don't know many people."[break][break]

So it's nice to have a friend.

"you don't? but you seem so...chill."[break][break]

the revelation catches matias off guard but he's quick to move on when he sees a wartortle struggling to get up as it's flipped over on its shell. he walks towards it, then bends down low before flipping it upright.[break][break]

he walks back over to lam after with a smile.[break][break]

"no matter. i will be your friend."

"Ha - yeah, I mean I am chill. But I'm also not super outgoing, either." He shrugs, he's never had any problem with that. Not shy, but not wildly extroverted, either.[break][break]

"My boyfriend is the social butterfly," he says with a soft scoff of laughter. Ikarus Rook was also sort of an eccentric weirdo, but Lam always found that charming. His attention turns to a large swanna that chose to land delicately nearby. He approached it easily, head dipped respectfully in a bid to earn the same from the elegant bird.[break][break]

His grin stretches wider as Matias returns. "Yeah, friends."

"my fiance is the same. she's much more social than i am."[break][break]

much friendlier, too, which might explain why most people prefer Eva Morales's company to his.[break][break]

but that's fine because he has friends like lam logan whom he could rely on. he smiles in return.[break][break]

a fletchling with GALE WINGS circles overhead, hunting, perhaps, but it soon moves on without doing much.
