They have dragons on the brain.[break][break]

Lately, they’ve been of the mind to seek out more to expand their already burgeoning collection to match the size of their more spectral types. That is, honestly, the singular reason Fern has come to Meteor Falls today. That, and it’s a scenic destination they’ve never had the opportunity to visit before.[break][break]

Rather than letting the third time be the charm in coincidental meetings, they’ve intentionally offered the invitation to accompany them to THEO BECKETT, finding that they enjoy the underboss’ company.[break][break]

“Think you’ll find some fishies here?” Asked as they cast a cursory look up at the top of the falls.

“Ooh I knew it was smart to invite you! Consider me curious.” Fern fixes him with a placid smile. “No problem, though. I figured it would be up your alley.” And Fern doesn’t mind the underboss’ company at all. [break][break]

Of course, for some reason he’s apparently prone to hanging around the more stoic sorts. Maybe he just plays off of them well.[break][break]

He eyes all of the gear brought along. “Definitely can’t say you didn’t come prepared.”[break][break]

A shelgon trots out and his mimikyu scuttles over in the guise of greeting it. But she PLAYS ROUGH and soon knocks the roly poly shell over until the dragon is stuck on its back. Awfully mighty for her size.

they won't be reeling in the turtonator either as there's no need to when it runs at them the way it does. so aggressive, almost reminiscent of a particular elite four member with an equally ugly head.[break][break]

darumaka meets it with a HEADBUTT, defending them from it long enough for a pokeball to follow. it stills after a few seconds before darumaka returns with it.[break][break]

not long after that, they arrive at the first fishing spot. it's a small stream of water that flows in a particular direction, presumably out of the mountain.[break][break]

"PLAY ROUGH again, darling!" he trills to the mimikyu, who drifts forward. Zooming around in a zig zag before tripping up the larger dragon type by the ankles. Fern tosses out a pokeball as it comes crashing down.[break][break]

Fern claps his hands together and whirls back toward Theo, "Now, where were we?"

their peace is momentarily interrupted by the trampling tyrantrum that bursts into the scene. he trusts fern to deal with it, so he doesn't even pay it a second look while he begins setting up their gear.[break][break]

the bucket is set on the ground while he prepares their fishing rods, so all fern has to do is simply attach the bait to the end of the hook.[break][break]

he offers one of the fishing rods over.[break][break]

"ready to start? you have to place your bait onto your hook and then toss your line out. like so."[break][break]

his line flies out before sinking into the water.

That leaves her free to continue snooping around the space while he turns back to Theo’s set up.[break][break]

“And thank you too,” he says as he takes the fishing rod. Holding it a bit awkwardly and more like a sword or a baseball bat because…has he ever held a fishing rod before? He can’t recall.[break][break]

“Uhhh right.” Fern mimics the actions as Theo does them, but when it comes to casting his line, he way overshoots.

while there definitely is a right way to hold a fishing rod, theo doesn't criticize. it would be rude to when fern is by all definitions of the word a beginner. a rookie. a newbie.[break][break]
