There’s always something to study, something to test out, and some certain Rocket Admin willing to assist her in her desire to understand this world’s anomalies. That’d be BARNABY FINCH, obviously, or as Ceri knows him, Bee.

Today, they’re meeting in one of the testing chambers: reinforced and with all of its equipment kept safely away from where pokémon moves might cause damage. Camera footage, energy readings, the standard stuff. One of these cameras had been possessed by her ever helpful Rotom.

”Alright. T, I’m going to need your help today.” Ceri beams at the Toxtricity that stands by her side as they wait for the admin to arrive. In turn, the Punk Pokémon yawns as if uninterested in it all.

BARNABY FINCH was always more than happy to squeeze in time to help with Ceri Glynn's experiments. As always, she proved herself to be a cut above the rest - the most recent example of that being the synthetization of a vaccine to treat Cillian Quinn's NIHILEGO poisoning.

Today's work, however, involved a continuation of their terastallization research. Per usual, Barnaby entered the testing chamber with little clue as to what they'd be up to, but knew Ceri would steer him in whatever direction she needed. Accompanying him was his ROTOM, Esprit, there to aid in recording the experiment.

"What's on the docket for today?" Barnaby spared a glance toward her TOXTRICITY, remembering that it was the one she'd used in their battle a few weeks ago.

To be entirely honest, Ceri didn’t really need Barnaby here today. Or, well, she didn’t need one of his pokémon, at least. His presence is apparently imperative.

”Hey, hey! Catch.”

Barnaby better have good reflexes, because only a second after the warning is given, she throws. Her Rotom captures all of it. The sphere is lightly chucked towards him, and perhaps it’s one that could be recognized with ease: a perfectly polished Luxury Ball with gold that glistens under the fluorescent lights of the testing chamber.

It’s more than obvious who it belongs to, but Ceri still makes it clear for the admin:

”I asked Underboss Del Mar if I could borrow one of his Z-Move pokémon, since I’m not too keen on feeding radioactive berries to my own.” Mostly because of how expensive Passho berries are and how long they take to grow. Seriously, given how little she’d use the moves, it doesn’t feel worth it at all! ”He said his Milotic is the most agreeable one, buuuuuut she won’t listen to commands from just anyone. Since he doesn’t have the time to be here, he told me to ask you.”

As Ceri imagines it, Martín del Mar probably finds it all very amusing, but in reality it’s representative of how much he trusts BARNABY FINCH… and how much Mars’ pokémon like him.

Oh, his reflexes were incredibly honed. Although Barnaby barely had a second to react, his arm swung up instantly to catch the lobbed Luxury Ball. It connected with his palm with a light thud!, the weight feeling familiar in his hand. Looking it over, that familiarity grew. Ah, one of Martín del Mar's Pokémon.

It made BARNABY FINCH wonder what his partner was up to right now. Although his presence was apparently imperative, the ROCKET admin felt a smidge of loneliness twinge at his heartstrings. They'd seen each other just that morning, but he still missed Mars all the same when they were apart.

Anyway! Back to business!

"Funny, that seems like just the thing you'd do, actually." Feeding radioactive berries to her Pokémon to see what would happen? Right up Ceri's alley.

"From Underboss Del Mar, hm?" Barnaby's cobalt eyes fell back onto the Luxury Ball, shifting it around in his palm so that the red and gold bands sparkled under the florescent lighting. Then, he released the Pokémon within.

Erato emerged in a burst of light, the definition of grace and elegance. "Ma beauté... it's been awhile."

The MILOTIC eyed Barnaby for a moment or two, then her surroundings - making sure to give Ceri Glynn quite the pointed look - before moving forward to press her head into the admin's outstretched hands. He stroked the crown of her skull fondly while addressing Ceri:

"I'm assuming you want to use a Z-Move on a Terastallized Pokémon, then?" His gaze flicked to her TOXTRICITY and then back to her.

”Pfft. That’s ‘cause you think like a bougie person who has the disposable income to be wasting Passhos.” Ceri’s retort comes quick, playfully sticking out her tongue at the admin. Sure, she could potentially ask Team Rocket to get her some Passho Berries for science, but there are some things a girl would much rather do on her own, you know?

The Milotic is as gorgeous and graceful as Ceri would have expected. She’s generally not big on aquatic pokémon, but this one makes for quite the sight, and even her Rotom seems to be having one hell of a time getting footage of it – the camera goes all around the Milotic, who doesn’t seem to even care for its presence. She’s probably used to it.

”Ha! Look at you, guessin’ what we’re gonna do and all. Not bad.” Ceri smirks at Barnaby then, and from her pocket, she does indeed retrieve her Tera Orb. TTX stretches his arms up and steps forward then, almost as if saying finally.

”We already know that TERASTELLIZATION doesn’t allow pokémon to use Z-Moves, but can they still be hit by them?”

That’s what will be answered today, and it all starts with her own Toxtricity TERASTELLIZING.

"I have some brains to go along with all this beauty, you know." Barnaby teased, his lips curling into a good-humored smile. He even added in a little hair flip to emphasize his point.

Erato shifted away from his touch upon noticing TTX moving into position. She was an extremely intelligent Pokémon and easily figured out that she was here to demonstrate her incredible abilities.

"If Terastallization prevents the user from being affected by Z-Moves - now, that would be amazing." And especially useful in combat.

"Alright, Eratos. Once that one," Barnaby hitched a thumb toward Ceri's TOXTRICITY. "Crystallizes, I want you to use Naiad's Nature on it. Hit it with all you've got." Esprit also readied himself upon hearing his master's instructions; the phone camera shuttered on and began recording.

When the Tera Orb activates, the nearby equipment does as well; energy signatures being carefully measured, recorded, and documented. The first spike is when the TERASTELLIZATION begins, the electric newt’s body being coated in crystals created by Tera energy.

A Rotom-possessed camera circles around the arena, recording the Toxtricity from all angles. TTX seems incredibly fond of all the attention, but it’s quickly stolen away when the camera turns towards the Milotic once again.

The equipment detects a spike in wormhole radiation. A Z-Move about to be fired.
[break][break]
The Z-Move Martín del Mar had dubbed NAIAD’S NATURE comes in the form of one beautiful note. For a moment, Ceri is convinced that it’s the most wonderful sound she has ever heard, and ever one to be fond of music, the Toxtricity seems to think so as well. To the point that he doesn’t even notice the pain caused by it, nor the way some of his crystals begin to shatter…

The MILOTIC belted her song with the gravity of an opera singer. Her voice was hauntingly angelic, reminiscent of a siren calling out to lead wayward travelers to their doom. It seemed to be having a similar effect on Ceri's TOXTRICITY, too, whose crystalline armor had begun to splinter under the influence of NAIAD'S NATURE.

"You're getting this, right, Esprit?" Barnaby asked his ROTOM, who beeped in confirmation. He spun in opposite unison of Ceri's own ROTOM - making sure to get any angle it may have missed!

To truly test the effectiveness of the Z-Move, Barnaby wanted to check and see if TTX had lost his will to fight. Martín del Mar had explained previously that this was one of the main aspect of this attack, after all, so with that in mind...

"Erato, Hydro Pump."

When Ceri had asked Underboss Del Mar about borrowing one of his pokémon for this trial, he had explained his Milotic’s rather unique Z-Move to her. Because of this, Ceri is well aware of the effect NAIAD’S NATURE is supposed to have and looking at her Toxtricity, she can clearly see that it’s working just as intended.

”Interesting…” The researcher whispers to herself, her gaze turning to the camera that floats nearby. ”Focus on TTX. I want good footage of this.”

When the HYDRO PUMP comes, the Toxtricity takes the hit, standing his ground despite the pain. He ends up drenched, but he doesn’t seem to mind this, and where he would usually retaliate with violence, he instead seems perfectly placid.

The truth is clear, but that’s not enough for Ceri. She wants more evidence.
[break][break]
”T, how about you also sing us a song?” She tells her pokémon with a bring smile, her words being carefully chosen. It’s not her asking TTX to attack, but to do something he likes, and as a result, BOOMBURST pierces through the testing chamber.

What follows it is a pained cry on the Toxtricity’s part, as if using the attack had caused it harm instead of hurting his opponent.

”Well! That answers that! I think I know what’s going on. Do you want a copy of my report?” This time, she looks at Barnaby instead, a hand on her hip and smirk upon her lips.

With the experiment concluded Esprit - within the ROTOM phone - floated back beside Barnaby, closing the camera software with a satisfying click! Their work here was complete. Probably one of the easiest thirty minutes of work in the entirety of his ROCKET career.

"I would love a copy, thank you." He replied to Ceri Glynn while extending his arm out, Luxury Ball in hand, to recall Eratos.

"Don't worry about returning Underboss Del Mar's Pokémon to him. I've got that covered." Barnaby added with a slight smirk, pocketing the MILOTIC's ball into his just jacket before heading towards the door.

"Till next time!"
