It'd been a month since Penelope had begun her path to self-improvement. From her runs with MATIAS SILPH , to her practice battles with Melody Miro and Callan Young , there had been progress made. Not only were her senses sharpening, so were her Pokémons', who now sought to discover answers without waiting for a call from their trainer.

It was exciting. It was new. And, more than anything else, Penelope wanted to try these learnt skills in a proper battle.

Which brought here, along the outskirts of Fallabor Town, after obscuring a tip from her intelligence team. Supposedly, a low-grade smuggling deal was to take place. So low-grade, The League was looking to ignore it, in favor of spending their resources elsewhere. They would've gone through with that decision had not been for Penelope's persistence on sending someone to check it out.

The same someone Penelope was now forcibly accompanying.

The mission started out as any standard busting would: the two first scouted the area for any lingering grunts, taking care of whoever they came across (through discreet means), then they used the dim windows to peer inside the warehouse.

It was dark -- too dark to see anything properly -- but the more they looked inside, the more they gained an understanding of the building's layout. From the cracked windows to the slanted stacks of cargo, there was a path to which they could eel through without detection. And that was exactly what they did.

From there, everything fell into place. They both waited for the perfect time to strike, and during that golden hour, the two easily took down the remaining grunts, with Penelope being able to handle most of them on her own and without the assistance of her coworker.

"Okay! That was easy," she sighed, finishing off the last of them herself. Her partner had already begun rummaging through the grunts' items and loose documents. "Let's finish up quick. Don't want to stick around for too long."

All jobs can have their complications, and what should have been a low-tier smuggling deal is met by an ambush in the farmlands at the outskirts of Fallabor Town. One grunt — utter coward — scrambles and hides from the attack, but to his cowardice there is one silver lining: he sends a desperate message to high command, informing them of what's occurring.

Tonight, Tuesday chooses to don on a vulpine mask.

Tonight, a fox attacks, baring a knife instead of fangs — a sharp edge that appears out of thin air just as he does, spun and jabbed right in between the third and fourth ribs of PENELOPE LIVY's companion. A precise attack. A punctured liver. A fatal wound if not given immediate treatment.

The message is clear: it could have been her instead, had she gone through the items, and he could have used a gun as well.

The objects are simple: allow time for the grunts to escape, deal with this issue, and retrieve the merchandise.

Preparation felt futile in the face of cruel reality. All it took was one second, one moment of oblivious distraction for a dagger to find its mark through their plans.

A sharp gasp fled Penelope's throat when the blade first struck. In seconds, blood splattered everyone, staining the ground in streaks of crimson. It took every piece of willpower not to stare because she knew the moment she did, all else would come tumbling down. One by one.

"Stand down." A ravaged voice clawed out. Her hand had already made it to her side, where in one click, a veil of defense could be produced. Out from the maw of her pokeball, a Luxray sprung out. Static zapped long its obsidian main as he prowled around her. "Kal!"

A short burst of electricity exploded off from the pokemon, blanketing the grounds of the warehouse in sparks of yellow. An ELECTRIC TERRAIN had been called upon.
