After the first lap as a warm-up, the water-type turns on his AQUA JET at its highest setting. You feel his back slam upward into you as it starts up, bucking you harshly, but you are barely able to hold on. He only turns off the high-pressure expulsion of water when making turns, bouncing along the waves at frightening speeds. Josh is indifferent about how today's session went.[break][break]

"Alright, it's crunch time!" Josh greets you with a smile as you meet up with him, the relay scheduled for next week. He is in good spirits and has high hopes to come out of next week with a win. "This is it! What should we work on this final week before the big race?"

With that, you hop on Saber's back and take him for a run through the THUNDER ROAD course, the Gym Leader behind you as a passenger. With a storm brewing above Josh's favorite race course, Saber absorbs the latent electricity in the air to propel himself to speeds you never thought were possible from a Manectric. You hold on for dear life as you push Saber as fast as his QUICK ATTACK can carry him. Was this what it would be like to ride the Great Raikou? As you slide to a stop aboard a hyperventilating Manectric, Josh seems very pleased about his chances to win the race, especially with how fast you've made his most loyal Pokémon!![break][break]

The next week, you head to the Beautifly & Dustox in Fortree, one of the most renowned sports bars in Fortree City. Your training with Snacker paid off. While he didn't round every corner perfectly, he did a passable to good job on them. Making great use of Aqua Jet to reach the end of the channel in sixth place.[break][break]

Your training with Bladestorm paid off, the Tailwind-powered Skarmory zooming past the competition as his wings ring with a loud, terrifying tinny sound that forces him to nose up to discharge Air Cutter building between the wing blades by mistake. He has the leaders in sight. The Gym Leader lands and takes a seat on his Manectric, going into the final leg in third place.[break][break]

The overland leg, the anchor leg of the race, is where your work with Josh's Manectric really shines. Saber shoots off the line so fast that his rider is nearly thrown from the saddle. The booth commentary is almost entirely focused on Josh as he has a course record on his sights, the electric wolf approaching the speed of the Johto legendary Pokémon some associate his species with. The battle for second place eventually becomes far more interesting to watch than the Manectric shooting across the finish line at speeds that would make even other Pokémon racers sick. Josh finishes in FIRST PLACE by a colossal margin.[break][break]

After the award ceremony, you receive a phone call from the Master of Faster, with a simple yet loud greeting of "YEAH!! I WON! I WON!!"[break][break]
