THE BORDER IS A MOUNTAINOUS PURGATORY OF MUTED SEPIA SMOKE. By floating islands, translucent bridges soar through the realm toward the heavens. Tall stone spires jut out from the spiritual mist. In the sky, the wisps of spirits can be seen heading toward their final destination before the afterlife...[break][break]

Curiously, there are four broken seals embedded in four mountains. Though Adrian Malcolm and YVELTAL may have seen their location upon their unceremonious entry, the spirit realm has shifted since their last visit, rendering each broken seal far apart from each other.

Aidan had always dealt with both sides of life and death but never had he thought he'd have to deal with the in-between of the two. Ever since he had come to Hoenn everything pretty much turned upside down, having to deal with apocalyptic scenerios, rejoining a criminal organization, all the good things.[break][break]

The dream like scenery of everything here made it feel like Aidan was in a dream, he didn't even know exactly where he was or even why he was sent here, everything felt like a blur. A scattered dream that's like a far-off memory... a far-off memory that's like a scattered dream... i want to line the pieces up.[break][break]

At least Aidan wasn't alone here, one familiar face and a few strange ones. "Soooo... Any of you guys know the lore, mythos, legend or anything about this place?" They had to gather information first, and the easiest way right now would be learning about each other. "Name's Aidan by the way. Pleasure to meet you all under such interesting circumstances." What a beautiful world.

That's what it was in Rick's eyes, although people may disagree with him. Puffs of smoke from his cigarette swirl and fade into the clouds which surrounded the group. Bitter taste of tobacco soothing the prickling nerves he felt throughout his entire body.

He couldn't describe how he was feeling - both eager to research and nerves from what he didn't know. He's not lost in thought for long as someone in the group asks a question. "Not very familiar with those.." He pauses breathing one last puff from his cigar before tossing it and smothering it.

"I've only heard rumors, their vague but majority of them surround the south of this world. Figure that would be a good starting place to look." Luckily for the group they close to the speculated rumors all that was left for them was to investigate for themselves.

It was becoming difficult to reconcile who he was now with the person he'd been in Galar, as though they were a stranger he'd never met. Scared, sheltered and full of rage, the old Rowan wouldn't have chosen to face down the unknown with a group of strangers. Especially not for a region that would have him jailed or killed, for the choices he'd made since coming here. [break][break]

This Rowan, however, was full of hope. That the choices he made didn't define him, that there was redemption for the scared boy from Galar who just wanted somewhere to belong. Perhaps this was another important stepping stone on his journey, there was only way one to find out. "Rowan Wrynn." He introduced himself, offering a friendly nod to those present. "Don't know anything about this place, but we won't figure it out standing around, yeah?"

Mei frowned. The land of the dead was not the sort of place that welcomed people like her. How many had she killed over the past several years? First in Kanto, now in Hoenn? She felt as if the very landscape - the mist, the bleak horizon, the eerie river - was harshly judging her sins with every step she took.[break][break]
She resented it. The dead ought to stay dead.[break][break]
"Mei," she said simply, by way of introduction. She recognized two of the men with her as fellow Rockets, but the other was a complete stranger. Not entirely sure of his allegiance, she kept her surname to herself. Not that she used her real name for her assassin work - Soteria was her Rocket codename - but it couldn't hurt to be generally vague.[break][break]
Beside her, Boreas fluttered, mustering a cool breeze merely by flapping his large, frost=tipped wings. The Frosmoth trilled softly, and she cocked her head at him. Looking in the direction he seemed to be facing, Mei noticed something intriguing in the distance.[break][break]
"Can't say I know much about this place, but there's some kind of boat docked by the bank of that river," she pointed, crimson nail polish standing out against the muted color palette of their surroundings. "Perhaps it will take us somewhere more interesting?"

Facing one's mortality this was way was not on Aidan's bingo book at all. Everything still felt strange, despite the people around him being real enough, the beauty of the border was indeed in it's strangeness, perhaps something they would only get accustomed to with time or perhaps not. With introductions done and over it sounded like all they had right now were rumors and a boat? Strange.[break][break]

"It's a strange pleasure to meet you all here." Having more people come along did give him some sense of hope and after all, having 4 brains was better than one. "I do hope those rumors have nothing to do with facing the ghosts of our past... Ha ha." He'd scratch the back of his head. "I would still like to hear these rumors though, they might the only thing we got right now."[break][break]

Soon after speaking up Aidan would start moving towards the so called boat, still puzzled by the thought. It was a great catch from Mei to be able to see it, hopefully nothing bad could happen from them simply investigating it. "We should walk and talk... We never know how welcoming a place such as this could be to us." Despite their lack of intimacy from the group they would have to work together for sure, there was no point in ignoring anything they each had to say, event the smallest bit of detail could help them right now. initial impressions were fine. Having met them under unique circumstances Rick wasn't in a position to judge them. Rick nods as he figured they had wanted to know more about what he knew. "For starters there's an apparent vengeful pokemon that lurks throughout this land. It was a frightening rumor but Rick figured that's all it was - he also found it fitting given their surroundings.

His eyes followed to where Mei had pointed out, a look of surprise overcoming his features when there was in fact a boat docked not to far.
"How interesting, I'm guessing that somebody else had left it behind when they ventured here as well." It was the only reasonable conclusion Rick could come to, and he joins the rest of the group as they walk towards it.

However as they steadily started approaching the bank of the river, a sudden and thick mist rolled in. Causing it very difficult to see what was in front of him, Rick naturally gets separated from the group. His experience as a pokemon watcher enabled him to stay calm, stopping in his tracks so he doesn't get lost even more he starts calling out into the fog, hopeful that the others were somewhere nearby.

"Hello? Can Anybody Hear me?" Worst case scenario if no one responds he would need to rely on his pokemon.

He called out, hoping someone was nearby to connect with. "Guess not." A hand moved to his belt, plucking free a Pokéball and tossing out his Illumina Chinchou. [break][break]

"Mind helping out, little guy?" The Chinchou nodded, spinning around slightly before unleashing a brilliant SPOTLIGHT, hoping to create a beacon in the mist for others to find or follow as he walked along. "Stay close, it might not be safe."

Mei crossed the expanse of dry, broken earth to where a gimmighoul ferryman stood silently - creepily - by the edge of the dark river she'd initially spotted. A boat was docked there - a very small one. Would they all be able to fit? Well, it seemed to be their only option so it would have to do.[break][break]
Mei fished around for something to offer the ferryman; all she had in her jacket pocket were a couple of spare coins and a pack of gum. She held out the coins, only to realize that she couldn't see the ferryman anymore. The mist had thickened to a dangerously opaque degree. "Vengeful you say?" It really made too much sense, with a place such as this he did expect to find spirits from the past and angry ghost pokemon, it had been way too peaceful of a time already. "That makes..." Before Aidan could even continue he realized how silent everything had suddenly become. Looking around trying to figure out happened, only to find out that he could barely see the palm of his hands in front of him. [break][break]

"HELLO!?" The fog had simply overtaken everything around him, he couldn't even remember which way the boat was. He'd slowly start moving forward to where he thought people would have went, this totally started feeling like the start of a cheap horror movie. "ANYONE AROUND ERE'?" His whole body hoping that this would a temporary thing, after all if this kept up it would make it the expedition borderline impossible. [break][break]

After taking a few steps forward but what felt like several minutes lost in the fog. Suddenly, a gust of wind would push him back, making a clearing ahead of him. "Vengeful one!? Are you here to take me away?" Waiting for his ending to finally come towards him, thankfully the Rocket Member was very wrong about that. "Oh hey! yeah it's me!" He couldn't see anyone else but Mei in front of him. "I'm so thankful it's you and not the vengeful pokemon. Is it just us two here?" He truly had no idea what happened, with Hoenn's track record the group could have gotten teleport anywhere. "Can you guys do that again in a different direction? That gust had been a life saver, perhaps they could find more of their last group by getting some vision back.[break][break]

He greeted the Gimmighoul, a bit confused about their purpose. The Gimmighoul gestured towards Rowan's jacket pocket, acting as though it wanted something from inside.[break][break]

Digging a hand into his pocket, Rowan produced a small coin, one he knew he hadn't had on him before. [break][break]

With the coin accepted, he was allowed onto the vessel, beginning their journey across the waters. It wasn't a long trip, but it was a strange one. Everything about this place was bewildering and foreign. Returning the Chinchou back to it's Pokéball, Rowan stepped off the boat and spotted a familiar couple on the other side.[break][break]

Reunited with Rowan Wrynn and Aidan Hereford, Mei felt slightly more at ease. The mist was still thick, but not blindingly so. Wait, hadn't there been four of them?[break][break]
"We're missing Rick," she sighed, irritated. A strange sensation of being watched prickled at the back of her neck. This place was growing creepier by the minute. All the same, she'd rather explore than stand still, the desire to see more of what these rifts had to offer outweighing any apprehension about the nature of this rift in particular.[break][break]
The escort glanced around, looking for an interesting destination to shepherd the group towards; an imposing cliffside to the South caught her eye, and she pointed it out.[break][break]

So far everything had pretty much been one crazy occurrence after another, this much had been expect but there was no way they could have predicted or prepared for magical mist that took them too different places. This had become far above Aidan's Rocket paygrade, he surely should come out with dental plans after this.[break][break]

As Rowan Wrynn reunited with Mei Liu and himself, Aidan was ready to keep going on their treacherous journey, only taking a pause when rick newton was mentioned. "I have faith he'll find his own way, something tells me he'd want us to keep going." A small feeling he had in the back of his mind, maybe one day their paths would meet once again. [break][break]

Following Mei's suggestion, Aidan would start heading towards the mountain that she had pointed out. That was the smart plan, they could get a vantage point, learning and being able to visually map out the area would be crucial moving forward. There were hints here and there showing them that the world itself wasn't going against them but instead guiding them in a set direction, the mist allowing them all to gather together despite being lost, the Gimmighoul helping Rowan find his lost team mates and now a GIANT FIRE BIRD![break][break]

Turning around to find a incredible creature right in front of their very eyes, should they fight it, should they run from it? "Fuck!" Aidan would throw his pokeball out as his Gengar would materialize from it's shadow. "Mega my boy! and go for a Sucker Punch" From all the information he had gathered it felt like they shouldn't be running away, perhaps the pokemon was guarding something, the next step to their adventure, it was only logical. [break][break]
