Today, the hunters would become the hunted.

When word had gotten out that a squad of Rocket hitmen were going to visit the Galarian Embassy, the former member of the Elite Four practically jumped to the call.

Soon after the hitmen entered the elevator, a male and female, appropriately dressed for a visit, would step into the building. While the male studied the digital readout of the occupied elevator in order to find out which floor the hitmen were going to, the female would begin to ask the receptionist some questions, in order to distract her.

Finally, the two would take the stairwell. Once the door was closed, the female would drop their guise, revealing herself to be a Zoroark, and the male to be the grim vigilante known as Wraith.

"You did well.", he'd praise his Zoroark, before recalling her back to her Pokeball.

The vigilante would pull out a grapple gun, adjusting a wheel at the back of it momentarily, before aiming and firing it above, allowing the hook to catch the railing, before the mechanism would reel him up towards the floor where the assassins, and their mark, were to be.

Upon vaulting over the railing to his destination, the vigilante would bring out his Ceruledge, which would quickly disappear. He would then arm himself with his sawed-off shotgun, and make his way into the fray, ready to kill.

The hitmen come wearing level two disguises. In the business of espionage, level two disguises typically meant wearing articles of clothing that obscured a person's identity. Ballcaps and hoodies, however, were replaced with fedoras, business suits, and trench coats. Sunglasses were also added to their efforts, and ultimately they blended in well with the formality of Rustboro's business district.

When the elevator dings and its doors slide open, these assassins emerge in organized pairs of two. There are six of them in total. They each summon a Pokémon of their own: a Zoroark, a Vikavolt, a Growlithe, a Vigoroth, a Heracross, and a Spidops. They each pull out a gun from their coats and enter the cubicle area preceding the high-rise offices, but stop halfway when the Zoroark senses something...

The lead hitman, the one in charge of the Zoroark in question, raises a hand to gather the attention of his subordinates. Then he nods at the hitmen in charge of the Vigoroth, Heracross, and Spidops. "You three— advance on Calcifet's office while we stand watch here. Someone's coming."

GUNSMOKE

As the grim vigilante made his way down the halls, he would begin to deploy other Pokemon as well. Kuma Lisa would return, joined by Reaver the Weavile.

The first to approach the group was Mordred the Ceruledge, manifesting from the Phantom Force, attempting to strike down the Vigoroth with Bitter Blade. Reaver, using the cubicles as cover, would attempt to lob an Ice Shard at the Spidops. Kuma Lisa would skulk around, before attempting to pepper the Heracross with a Flamethrower.

As his Pokemon got the attention of theirs, Wraith would emerge, and open fire on the hitmen with his sawed-off shotgun, loaded with 12-gauge slugs.

Suddenly, the interior of the embassy erupts into a calamitous chaos. Within the confines of his office, Remiel hears it before swiftly casting a LIGHTNING STILETTO through his window. It whizzes through the aforementioned chaos and even past Thomas Benoit just a second before he puts one of the hitmen down. Ultimately, it embeds itself against the wall of the hallway they'd come from.

The glass that shatters as a result of his cast hits the ground just as a Vikavolt strikes down his door with an X-SCISSOR. The ambassador is forced to duck beneath his desk when a Growlithe pounces in with a FLAMETHROWER. Thankfully, the royal's BUTLER SINISTEA manages to stave off most of this flame with a PROTECT.

It is the Zoroark that Remiel must truly worry about, however. It manages to sneak past the possessed teacup in a blur before attempting to strike him down with a NIGHT SLASH. And it does, in fact, manage to tear at his sleeve before he disappears in a flash. Remiel TELEPORTS to the place where his lightning stiletto had landed, staggering as he finds his place against the wall and clutches at his now bloody arm.

The masked man saw the Lighting Stake whizz past him, as he unloaded the two shots towards the three hitmen. This did not distract the vigilante from striking down one of the three men. With the owner of the Vigoroth gunned down, the Ceruledge had little trouble in finishing off the hyperactive simian.

The masked man ducked back into cover in the chaos, attempting to exploit it in order to advance behind cover. Aiding in this, the Zoroark unleashed a Night Daze, attempting to blanket the area in darkness. The masked man tosses two more Pokeballs out, an Alakazam, and a Malamar.

The Ceruledge, after finishing the Vigoroth, would change his target to the Spidops. The grudge-filled armor would attempt to cut down the insect with his Bitter Blade. The Alakazam would join Mordred, attempting to overwhelm the Heracross with a burst of Expanding Force.

The Malamar floated menacingly towards the office, while the Weavile dug down into the floors below, advancing in the same direction. The Malamar attempted Hypnotize the Vikavolt, in an effort to turn it against the others. The emerging Weavile attempted to get the drop the Growlithe, rising up from under it, then attempting to dig his razor-sharp claws into it.

As Thomas weaved through cubicles, he holstered his now empty shotgun, replacing it with a submachinegun concealed in the raincoat. Satisfied with his position, the vigilante popped up from cover, and fired on the two remaining hitmen who were unlucky enough to be the watch. Thanks to the visor in his helmet, the darkness produced by the Night Daze did not hinder his sight.

The chaos continues.

When Remiel Calcifet disappears, the ENEMY GROWLITHE swiftly reorients itself with a series of sniffs. The ENEMY VIKAVOLT, too, buzzes around the office in search of its target as it charges electricity between its mandibles. EARL GREY is left to deal with these threats alone, and attempts to strike down the ENEMY GROWLITHE with a SHADOW BALL when it realizes it has caught his master's scent.

The attack is successful, knocking the pup unconscious against the wall with a pitiful and brief yelp. This, however, leaves the BUTLER SINISTEA vulnerable to an attack from the ENEMY ZOROARK. The darkness (NIGHT DAZE) that envelops the area doesn't help either, and another vicious NIGHT SLASH meets its mark as a result.

Nearby, Remiel manages to find one of the hitmen before sweeping a leg and striking him down with a LIGHTNING BOLT. As if the presence of that electrifying energy alone was the culprit, the NIGHT DAZE retreats just in time for Remiel to see his BUTLER SINISTEA being struck with a THUNDERBOLT from the ENEMY VIKAVOLT.


With its teacup cracked and its energy weary, the BUTLER SINISTEA staggers in flight out of the office to try and regroup with its master. This was their chance. It would summon the shadowy energy of a PHANTOM FORCE and escape with its master. Just as it had begun to do so, however, a single gunshot reverberated throughout the building.

The two hitmen could not react in time, as the hail of gunfire violently consumed them. By the time it was over, both of their bodies had been riddled with bullets. Though their vests caught some of the rounds, several burrowed into their heads. As their lifeless bodies dropped to the floor, blood pooling around the office floor, the Wraith disappeared as quickly as he popped up, crouching down, and hustling towards another part of the office.

As the Zoroark and Vikavolt process the losses of their masters, Kuma Lisa and Essex come to collect their prey. The Malamar strikes the Zoroark in the head with a Superpowered slam of his tendril. The illusory fox drops to the ground, rendered unconscious. The Zoroark belonging to the grim vigilante hoses down the Vikavolt with a point-blank Flamethrower, consuming the bug in a cone of fire. The Vikavolt drops to the ground, quickly rendered unconscious from the attack.

The Spidops owned by one of the two remaining hitmen attempts to take out the Alakazam with a Skitter Smack from behind. Reaver, spotting the approach of the insect, quickly dashes in, taking the attack for his ally. The Weavile retaliates with a brutal Counter strike, knocking the insect out. Freke, spotting the Heracross, subjects the bug to his Expanding Force. The wave of psychic energy overwhelms the beetle, knocking it out.

As Thomas attempts to move in on one of the remaining hitmen, gunfire catches his attention, followed by the sound of shattering. Wraith pops up to see the grisly sight of the hitman having shot the prince's Sinistea. With a quick draw, the Wraith pulls a .50 caliber revolver from his raincoat, opening fire on the hitman. The sound of the hand cannon reverberates through the floor, the powerful bullet cleaving through the man who killed the Sinistea.

In doing this, the final hitman, his intended target, spotted him. But before he could open fire on the grim avenger, a fiery blade would slice his arm off, followed by his head. The heated swords immediately cauterized the wounds, preventing blood from spilling on the floor.

Wraith rushed over to the prince, and his Sinistea.

The masked vigilante watched as the Prince attempted to save his friend. Suddenly, a gunshot rang out, striking Remiel in the shoulder. The Wraith turned to face the man, who had brought out his Electrode.

It seemed that they were dead set on taking them out.

Freke gave the signal to the others. Converge onto their master, and get the hell out of there.

The masked man quickly recalled his Zoroark, Weavile, and Malamar. Before he could do much else, Remiel tackled him through the window. Thanks to his Avatar power, the group was able to escape to a different building, safely away from the explosion. Freke and Mordred, seeing this, quickly escaped the area as well. With the Alakazam's Teleport, and Mordred traveling through the Phantom Force, the duo made it out of the building, before it exploded.

As the masked man regained his bearings, he looked over to the prince. "Your shoulder!", the masked man exclaimed. Despite the creepy voice filter the helmet provided him, his concern was explicitly clear.

Thomas quickly fished for the medical supplies he kept on his person. Though more thorough treatment would be necessary, his objective was to stop the bleeding quickly.

After that, he was taking Remiel to get treated properly.

As the vigilante got a better look at the Prince, he'd see the full extent of his wounds. The Wraith quickly got to work applying the first aid, in order to stop the bleeding for the journey ahead. More thorough medical care would come after they got back to his Ranch.

"I'll get you both help.", the masked man assured the Prince.

Once he had Remiel patched up sufficiently, Thomas recalled Freke and Mordred. In their place, Kalameet was summoned. The Hydreigon dipped roosted to the ground, allowing his master to load the unconscious prince onto him. With Remiel secured, the grim vigilante got onto the dark Dragon's back. "Back to Verdanturf!", he'd hurriedly order the dragon.

Once they'd arrive in Verdanturf, Remiel, and Earl Grey, were both handed off to the horde of Audino. The pink healers worked tirelessly through the night to save the duo.
