Summer heard from the grapevine about little Miss Eris Halla. And what she heard about her she did not like one bit. The first wind she caught of this rumor, she stormed to Sootopolis like a hurricane, anything but calm. Summer was known for angry bursts and tantrums, but it was probably a first to see her in this state.[break][break]

When she found out who or what did this to Eris, she was going to kill them.[break][break]

No one argued with her when she took Eris away, back to her home in Mauville Hills. She was startlingly silent on the way there, her mind reeling until they reached the penthouse that was her home.[break][break]

Summer would carry her inside, gently settling her down on the large bed she slept in alone, before looking at her gently.[break][break]

And Reiner's far too stunned by the sudden appearance to do anything but follow, barely making a peep all the way until he sees Eris being placed down on the bed.[break][break]

"I'm okay! The docs patched me up real quick after Isaac found me, and I had time to rest!" Eris is quick to shake off any bits of confusion, giving a bright smile as she reaches for Summer's hand. Judging by how she had reacted, how she had been so quiet on their way back here, she must have been worried sick. And she doesn't need Mesprit's help to feel it this time, she just has a strong gut feeling that urges her to reassure the woman.[break][break]

"It didn't even hurt that much!"[break][break]

A lie and a technical truth given how much painkillers she'd been administered. Heaven forbid anyone tell Summer about how much she screamed while they tried to sew her back together. Speaking of which, she'd probably never want to let her change her bandages and see the state of the wound that lay beneath.[break][break]

"I'm a pretty strong kid, ya know? Fought gods and I'm still here to tell the tale!"

Eris's tone was cheerful and strong, much like she typically was. But the words she spoke still didn't settle well with Summer. Especially the part about battling gods.[break][break]

She was still a kid. She'd been through this much already. It was unfair. Summer understood a lot of what she experienced, having no childhood of her own. And she couldn't stand by this.[break][break]

"Eris," she stopped her, her tone serious and firm. Summer's gaze never lost its concern for her, but her voice changed.[break][break]

"From what I heard, you almost died. Stop speaking lightly of such an event! I don't care if they patched you up and you're feeling better. It shouldn't have happened in the first place. You deserve so much better than a world of pain and suffering!"[break][break]

Summer's hand that didn't reach to hold onto Eris's own balled into a fist, angry and frustrated. "What happened?"

There's no way to spin a lie as blatant as that but she tries, not because she believes it will work.[break][break]

"I just... made them angry... and we got into a bit of an argument."[break][break]

That's right. It had been her fault, hadn't it? For not trusting? For trying to run when she could've just listened? No one had been there to see what happened, but she's sure that they would blame her for it if they knew.[break][break]

"I'm okay now." She keeps that smile, gently shaking her arm up and down and twisting a little, suppressing that urge to wince all throughout.[break][break]

Eris's attempts to quall Summer's fury were pointless. Because the inability for her to see just how terrible this situation was made it worse. Summer's jaw tightened, and she sighed in defeat, dropping her head down.[break][break]

"You don't have to tell me everything if you don't want to... but not everything is your fault, Eris."[break][break]

Releasing her hand, Summer scooted to the end of the bed and stood up. She rubbed her forehead with one hand, thinking before letting out another long breath.[break][break]

"What do you want to eat? We have anything you want or could want here."

[attr="class","inner-finally"]She falls silent because she knows no matter what she wishes to say, she'll end up regretting it one way or another. But that doesn't stop her from slowly pushing to her knees, crawling across the bed until she's right by Summer's side and hugging her.[break][break]

"I'm sorry." She doesn't want to see her this angry, she doesn't want her to feel this rage that will end up doing nothing but burn her from within. "I'll be more careful next time... so don't be mad."[break][break]

She can make things change if she just tries, can't she? Because trying is all she knows how to do.[break][break]

"I can make you something momma used to cook for me lots." Everything's unravelling in her head, but she eventually learns to pull away from Summer, wobbling a little as she gets to her own two feet. "You gotta have a lil sausage and some bacon... and then you gotta mix it with some good mac and cheese with loooots of cheese!"[break][break]

Probably extremely unhealthy but her mother had found it to be a dish that appealed to the picky eater Eris when she'd been much younger. And perhaps, now more than ever, she craves a bit of that comfort once more.
