Josh had come here after hearing rumors of some kind of croc. What he had not expected to find however, was a Voltorb that looked extremely old and... Made of wood? To say he was confused was an understatement. Also the fact it was still a Voltorb was a concern. Usually these things were quite volatile... And explosive. Josh stepped carefully, not wanting to alarm it as he considered trying to catch it. At least, until he stepped on a branch and realized he was caught.

To his surprise, the Voltorb jumped for joy and charged at him with glee. Josh was so taken aback by this that he wasn't able to stop the explosion.

While Josh's trainers gear protected him from the worst of it, he was still picking himself off the ground when a Safari Ball rolled into the Voltorb's fainted form.

That hurt. But Josh realized as the Pokeball disappeared into a burst of light that he had in fact caught the strange Voltorb. He would have to look into it later, though he did shoot a text to Izumi to warn her that their new arrival was a bit... Explosive. He'd also realized that a Phanpy was sticking its tusk in its pockets, looking for food.

"Hey there buddy..." Josh managed out, though accidentally scared the Phanpy in the process. "You must be hungry. I brought a few snacks, that's probably what you're smelling... Also me. I'm a bit crispy right now" he just kept talking. His continued talking actually seemed to bring the Phanpy out of hiding, watching him carefully as he brought out a protein bar and took a bite. He needed to get his strength back after all, if he was going to continue this trek. But it was the laid back way he rambled on, and made his jokes, that seemed to bring even the wild Pokemon at ease.

He held out the bar to Phanpy, then. "Want a bite?"

When Phanpy took a bite out of the bar, Josh quickly but gently tapped it with the Safari Ball. Between how relaxed it had become and being busy eating from the bar, the Phanpy was caught easily and Josh watched as the ball disappeared to be sent off. Now dusting himself off and struggling a bit to get to his feet after being blown half to kingdom come earlier, Josh took a deep breath and stretched out as he looked around.

He noticed a Tirtouga, but left it alone. His own Tirtouga might get jealous.

Josh himself had gotten a little hungry, and had been about to take a bite out of the protein bar when he saw an apple in a tree. Odd, there weren't usually apples here, were there? For the Pokemon maybe, he supposed he could just take one down to give to one of the local Pokemon here, would be easier to catch them that way...

Unfortunately, when he reached up, the thing became sentient and attacked with Rollout. Josh was forced to dive away before the airborne Rollout caused him harm. The action caused his Raichu, who had allowed itself to stay in the ball while it as asleep, to wake up and let itself out. Lightning promptly used Thunderbolt without hesitation to try and fry the thing.

While Josh had an Applin already, he had heard of there being multiple forms that they could evolve into. This seemed like the way to go. However, he only had one ball left. And he had yet to encounter that rare Pokemon he had been looking for. He did however, see a strange breed of Ponyta clop by.

While he was interested in the creature, he knew he needed to use his last Safari Ball wisely. Otherwise he wouldn't be able to catch what he had come for.

BLOODY ADORABLE! HOLY SHIT! Josh's heart was already melting. Of course, Lightning made a face with jealousy when he saw his expression, so Josh probably wasn't getting any help from the Raichu with this one. So he took a deep breath as he approached it slowly. He didn't know anything about this Pokemon, so he was going to have to consider how to do this right. But then he was spotted. But Fuecoco didn't seem to think he was a threat. Instead, it saw the energy bar in his hand and immediately leaped at him, grabbing the rest and snapping it down to eat it whole. Wrapper and all.

"Well, okay, I guess there goes the snack. Fair enough. Let me just..." Josh trailed off as he pulled out the Safari Ball to try and catch it while it was eating. But while rooting around for more, Fuecoco mistook Josh's fingers for more of the power bar and well...

The ball had rolled towards Lightning as Josh began screaming "FFFF-AHHHHH THROW THE BALL THROW THE BALL THROW THE BALL!"

While hesitant at first, the Raichu complied just to stop the screaming and hoisted up the Safari Ball to yeet it at Fuecoco.
