should he offer to cook for her? the thought does cross his mind but that sounds awfully personal for someone who had made it very clear that she wants to be anything but.[break][break]

Together they walked into the lobby of the hotel. Minus the singular worker behind the desk, the building remained relatively empty. Not much different than her experience checking into her room.

"I'm on the 5th floor," she explained over her shoulder and clicked the elevator button. With a ding, its golden doors sprawled open for them.

When the doors closed behind them, and all that was left was the obnoxious lyricless music every hotel elevator played, she couldn't help but be met with the faded memories of their first night out. Of their first kiss shared behind similarly painted elevator doors. It only made her grip on the plastic bags twist tighter.

The door dinged again before splitting back open.

"Finally."

She rushed over to her hotel room near the back of the hallway.

finally? did she dread such a short elevator ride that much? he blinks, caught off guard but he doesn't say anything about it.[break][break]

the elevator music fades into the distance as they approach her hotel room. it brings memories back to him as well, stirring emotions that he would rather not feel right now.[break][break]

he slips into her room after her, waiting by the door until it closes.[break][break]

because he needs to keep the milk he bought in there otherwise it'd go bad.[break][break]

After fitting her own groceries into the mini fridge, she stepped back, giving him free rein of the small black box.

Much like her apartment, crushed redbull cans were scattered around the small room. There were a few emptied takeout boxes, too, and some scattered pieces of clothing. Without fail, Penelope reached for her blanket, pulling it around her as she fell back into her bed.

after placing his groceries into the mini fridge, he stands back up, and only then does he take a moment to properly look around to take in the state of it.[break][break]

where falls back under the cover of her blanket, he starts walking around the room, casually at first so as to not rouse suspicion. but he means to clean, starting with the cans, then the boxes, and later her clothes which he plans to neatly fold.[break][break]

It was slow, empty, and the pinnacle of boring. For someone as fast pace as her, it felt like poison in her stomach.
