[attr="class","body"] the FLOWER SHIELD would do little against the sword's attack, empowered by the skill of his NO GUARD ability. even so, regardless of the outcome, one of the swords are flung away and like a stray missile - they find a new target in the form of Greyson Connors.

[break][break] the metal echoes against the shield, again and again, until it can find it's persecution. blood splashes in the air when it finds purchase on the exposed flesh.

[break][break] electricity sparks in manic disarray towards jayden. at close-range there is little he can do as the attack lances against his armor, creating a million small cuts, even as he dodge-rolls to avoid the worst of it. pain surges in his thigh as a bolt of electricity plunges in his left leg, paralyzing him for a moment.

[break][break] pushing himself to his feet, once more do his swords find their way back into their rightful place. dark shadows coalesced in his palms, full of power, just in time for the lieutenant to come racing towards him.

[break][break] the SHADOW FIRE encases both blades again, a storm of blue and red heat lapping in front of jayden's face. between the blades, violet irises pin the lieutenant.

[break][break] "it will only end once the league falls."

[break][break] electricity crackles around his thigh.

[break][break] "Greyson Connors, are you ready to die for your convictions? for the league's?"

the wall of flowers shatter into a confetti of inky black petals, and guided by the comfey's will, return back to greyson. like the layered links to a scale mail, they slowly begin form his armor once more.

when the last of it finishes, encompassing his head in a helmet with a glorious shadow-energy infused mane, he turns a amethyst stare onto jayden.

"yes i am." his voice is layered with another, their tone malicious, and icy, but unmistakably resolute. "something tells me, that you are not."

with a two-handed vertical strike downwards, greyson unleashes the pent-up energy of his attack. space distorts around the weapon, a deafening silence following in its wake.

in that silence, destruction consumes everything.

[attr="class","body"] though he may not have the same protection as fallarbor's former gym leader when it came to his shadow comfrey, jayden has his own armor. protection of years and years of frontline battle, forged in the fire that was kanto's regime.

[break][break] an explosion sounds between them as the two attacks converge into one.

[break][break] his doublade's NO GUARD ability pierces through the scale armor easily, but his opponent's SHADOW STORM easily rips up the parts of jayden's armor and wounds. even as the two swords clash, metal to metal, blood spurts from between them in such a way that it is impossible to tell who it belongs to.

[break][break] jayden's own face is doused in scarlet in the same way the helmet protects greyson.

[break][break] "you could not be more wrong, Greyson Connors."

[break][break] gaze full of HATRED, and heart churning with bloodthirst, jayden leaps backwards to avoid the fatal swipe of greyson's blade. a SPRINGTIDE STORM spurns between them both.

[break][break] devout and full of conviction, he utters:

releasing the sword, the combined abilities dispel into trickles of black and white smoke. the same motion leads that hand to another pokemon — a cream coated rapidash with runes that glow like starlight.

she neighs concernedly, but follows instruction. an amethyst hue surrounds her, her PSYCHIC will stretched to its limits, as the cavern above them begins to shake. in mere seconds, the cracks on the ceiling become a roaring landslide.

"try to make it out alive," he muses, stepping back through the portal with his pokemon, sealing that entrance for the foreseeable future.

on the other side, a HEAL PULSE begins to work its magic through his battered form.

[attr="class","body"] a dog for rocket, Greyson Connors says like an insult, but jayden only ever feels conviction. he has been built by rocket, for rocket his entire life. not once did he ever consider things to be different.

[break][break] not once did he ever want things to be different.

[break][break] and yet, even as the HATRED burns within him for the league, there's something about greyson's words that settle in him. it grates on his ears, settling like poison in his chest.

[break][break] for once, he wonders if rather than be a dog he should be a wolf. a volkov. and sink his fangs into something more deserving.

[break][break] the ground shakes violently, a deep fissure cracks across the topmost wall of the cavern. loose rocks and boulders begin to rain down from above, shattering into smaller fragments as they collide with the ground.

[break][break] his dragapult morphs beside him to his side. shadows leaks into the ground, opening up an identical portal, and jayden leaps atop her, letting the darkness engulf them both. they would survive to fight another day.
