Eris had gotten out of League custody, and was considering his pleas to not let Rocket serve as a shackle around her ankle. She'd tried out a new disguise and joined him for a festival to ring in the New Year. For the first time Isaac could remember in a long while, before or since, she seemed happy. She was excited. She was free. She was ready to start a new chapter of her life.[break][break]

He promised that even if life wouldn't show her the kindness, he'd fight for her dreams. Even if it meant finding the tooth dragon.[break][break]

Confusion lit up in Isaac's eyes as Razz started talking like a baby. Then came realization as a flustered Eris gave him a gentle punch on the shoulder. Then came uproarious laughter, a mixture of sheer disbelief and delight as all of the pieces came together.[break][break]

"Holy crap, I almost forgot about that," he wheezed, bracing himself against a nearby rock. "And here I thought you were talking about, like. The tooth fairy or something. Not Reshiram. Arceus, that's amazing."[break][break]

He sighed softly, a nostalgic smile spreading across his face. "Haven't heard that name since the New Year festival. You should've seen her, man." By now, any perception of Razz as the enemy had melted away. He was the tooth dwagon now. "Never seen someone win at all those rigged fairground games so much before. Kid's a natural." It probably helped that the two of them had given all those cheaters the Penn and Teller treatment first, but still. Their conquest was to be celebrated![break][break]

Yet now Isaac found himself wondering. If Eris literally knew Reshiram's Avatar, why'd she use that an example of a wish for Isaac to fight for?[break][break]

Had she been wishing all this time for him and Razz to meet?

Razz doesn't only slightly tenses when Eris goes for the light punch. Though his shoulders go to rest again it barely hurt. The young man used to punches his brother or his mother would deliver at such things. [Break][break]

"Think of it as a bit of revenge," he lightly jokes, revenge for what who knows. Maybe for her just being a general runt, or maybe for the amount of worry she put him through. Who knew?[Break][break]

Though it seem to ring some bells for the stranger who seems to not only understand the reference but it easily clicks for who is patron was. Makes him think more about how close the young teen is to this other man. Though unlike the other Razz still carries a more neutral expression for their interaction. [Break][break]

"Don't know if these 'rigged games' of yours," because he didn't play them, "But do know you two shouldn't be here, we should leave," his Pokemon were hurt, he was hurt and it he could get the rockets out of this place it would benefit him.

[attr="class","inner-finally"]With the whole situation settling down, Eris is reminded that these two have apparently been duking it out - Most likely over a series of misunderstandings, considering how unkind this place has been to her when attempting to get around.[break][break]

Reaching into her side pouch, she pulls out a pokeball and calls out her Comfey. Though there isn't much context to the situation she's introduced to, Chloris knows that there are those who need a little patching up, offering some Floral Healing for any small wounds. Mesprit, on the other hand, seems far more interested in poking the cheeks of the sleeping grunt, pulling back when he seems to stir and blowing a raspberry when he returns back to his dreams.[break][break]

[attr="class","skullbody"]"Nobody should be, if you ask me," Isaac muttered, shaking his head. Did he know that Razz was inevitably going to blame Rocket? Yes. Did Isaac kind of blame Rocket too at this point? Yes. While he fully expected the League to take advantage of the situation to gun for Arceus themselves, the Cuphant in the room was starting to make its presence known.[break][break]

Could the League even get away with this if they didn't have an enemy trying to eradicate them?[break][break]

"Yeah," he said to Razz, knowing damn well that this wouldn't be the end of the road for him. He'd help get Eris out of here, ensure the Grunt he'd backstabbed wouldn't be around to tattle, and then get back to work. However, he was starting to wonder just who he should be helping here. "I know a shortcut. Rift on the outskirts, far from the battle. Means we're not gonna get caught in any crossfire, and nobody's gonna ask any questions about why we're dragging a KO'd Grunt around."[break][break]

While Isaac mentioned the grunt, his eye flicked towards Eris. He hoped that Razz could understand the meaning hidden under his words; the last thing he wanted was for Eris to end up being questioned at either the League or Rocket's designated field sites.[break][break]

Speaking of the Grunt, Isaac simply waved him off. "Shame your men had me distracted, Razz. Didn't even see you slapping cuffs on old whatshisface til it was too late. Guess he's heading to the slammer now." Frankly, he'd been hoping to put the fear of Arceus in this guy first, but Razz had beaten him to the punch. Pity that. "Guess that's what happens when you're too busy bullying a child to do your job."[break][break]

There was venom in Isaac's voice. It was clear he loathed this coward as much as Razz did.[break][break]

With that, he waited to see if Razz would go with his suggestion. Whether he did or didn't, he planned on sticking around for as long as he could. There were a few questions Isaac needed to ask Razz before they went their separate ways.

"And yet here you are, scrambling League Coms," he replies with crossed arms as he recalls why Eris was there in the first place. Clearly unhappy about it as it was just another reason they couldn't be trusted. [Break][break]

Though even as the other even jest about dragging around a knocked out grunt Tango is there to step on their back as if laying claim. Razz being able to understand the subtext or not it was that plan all along. [Break][break]

"Not like he's of any use to you, because your grunts are so expendable right?" a comment that clearly wasn't just about the downed man, "And what of the both of you? Leaving now?" he does look to Eris with some concern, "Are you staying with them?"

Though Isaac does his best to shelter and protect her, he can only be in so many places at once, can only do so much when she has other things that she wishes to accomplish. Nothing about her being here is right.[break][break]

And yet, she can't quite look Razz in the eyes, running her fingers through Reiner's mane as she chokes on her words.[break][break]

What will they think of her? What will they do to her? Can she go back to living with Chu-e Choi as if nothing ever happened? Will there be repeats of that incident once more? Even the threat of someone like Cillian Quinn destroying her new home seems much more unlikely than some rogue League or extremist on the loose.[break][break]

If anything, he was lucky to be in Razz's custody instead.[break][break]

At Razz's next question, Isaac shot Eris a soft, sad look. "You really shouldn't be," he admitted. "I . . . I know we've got a lot to help you unpack. But c'mon, Eris. Is this really the place for it?"[break][break]

At this warzone, Rocket would be free to bully and abuse Eris as they saw fit. She was their prisoner, and judging by this asshole, some of them were more invested in kicking her around to feel big than they were in actually helping Rocket's aims. On the other hand, the League would see her running around sabotaging League operations. Even if it was under duress, they'd never know her story. They'd only know that they were right to be leery of this treasonous child.[break][break]

"Eris. Look at me." Softly, Isaac took her hand. "We're gonna figure all of this out, okay? That's my promise, and I never give up on a promise. No matter how long it takes, I'm never gonna stop being in your corner."[break][break]

"You trust me, right? And you trust Razz?" He nodded on over to the other man. "Then let him help you. Between the two of us, and Eva Morales, and your pa, we can help make sure you never have to face anything like that ever again, alright? We want to be there for you. But we need you to let us be, okay?"[break][break]

"I know with everything that's happened, it's hard to believe in anything. But, c'mon." A pained smile spread across his face as he looked towards Razz. "If there's anyone you can believe, it's the Tooth Dragon, right?"

"Suuure," the Ranger replies with clear disbelief, old experiences of Rocket hard to get out of his head so it wasn't like he wasn't speaking from experience. [break][break]

Though he allows the other to talk to Eris as he seems to try his best to comfort the other. There is a small chuckle at the mention of the silly nickname Eris had given Reshiram as a sore Razz does squat down a bit to try to be more eye level with the young teen. "Can definitely trust in me, and as always you're free to come with and stay over got to come back before Salem steals all your juice," he jokes and the cat just whistles innocently as if he's never even heard of Eris' secret stash nope. [break][break]

"And anything else happens you know I got your back, and I have a bit more pull now than I used to with the new position," he tried to add on opening to try and make her feel safe. Even if being here was starting to put a strain on him as he didn't have a sygna suit of his own.

Her attention darts around the cavern, drawn in by every little glimmer and tiny sound that echoes.[break][break]

Something's coming... something...[break][break]

But there's nothing there, and she's left pressing her palm against her temple as she takes a deep breath.[break][break]

The other man had moved on to comforting Eris, and for once that meant they were kinda-sorta on the last page. The last thing Isaac wanted to do was rock the boat. Besides, its not like Isaac wasn't already used to being scorned and dismissed.[break][break]

Why should now be any different?[break][break]

Against all odds, the two of them managed to ease Eris down. While he'd leave the question on seeing Chu-e Choi again to Razz, he was all too happy to take the reins as she asked about going back. " 'Course we can," he said, the worry in his eyes blending into the relief in his smile. "C'mon. Let's blow this joint."[break][break]

He knew Razz would be back in these caves before long. It was his duty, and by obligation he was bound. Would he follow suit and return? It was likely he'd have to. Eris was a kid and known for her noncompliance. Desertion was just to be expected of her. If he strayed away for the rest of the battle, he'd be in big trouble. Even a moment's respite could get him in hot water.[break][break]

The idea of Chu-e Choi still can't help but make him uneasy, as he still hasn't really had the chance to hurry the hatchet with the old Beast. Though maybe now with his new agreement with the league it might be easier? But Razz gives a tired nod to answer Eris as Salem seems to sense how out of it his trainer was coming and climbs onto his back and moves to hang on his shoulder to help mentally carry the burden this place was surely bringing. Salem has Tango use some of the sticky stuff to bound the knocked out Rocket as the fire type picks them up ready to leave. [Break][break]

"It's most likely this place, the energy here makes it difficult to stay in too long at a time," Razz informs as he feels the weariness himself as he only toughed it out for Eris' sake but now they could finally move as Razz lead the way. [Break][break]

"We'll get out of this cave and see where we go from here ya?" he offers to Eris as it might be him but she still hadn't made a verbal decision to leave with him. But could just be the cave as he starts heading out.

There was no Eris to speak up for herself, only three of her most loyal caretakers. Now nobody could stop her from getting some much needed selfcare![break][break]

A shame Isaac needed it too. With Eris secured and his admittedly badass fight with Razz over, he could no longer feed off of endless adrenaline rushes and panic attacks. Weariness came at him hard and fest, and what started as a confident strut quickly turned into a bad case of the jelly legs.[break][break]

Regulus braced him against his shoulder, while Vivi and Ivan cuddled up to his legs. Their Helping Hands gave him the strength to continue, letting him blaze a trail to the nearest rift without passing the fuck out.[break][break]

One moment, they would be in the deepest depths of the Ultra Deep Sea. The next, they'd be in an isolated junction of the Granite Cave, far from any of the main action. "Arceus," Isaac groaned, practically melting against the curve of a nearby boulder. "I forgot what it was like being in a world that doesn't hate my guts."

After letting himself relax for a second, his expression sobered up. "Hey. Sorry for being kind of a jerkass back there," he said. "I just . . . I've had a lot of shit weighing on me, y'know? Eris going missing just tipped it all over the edge. But even if she won't let us keep her safe, I'm glad she at least had someone like you looking for her."[break][break]

The air between them hung, heavy and quiet. "Hey. Can I ask you something real quick?"

"Obviously," Razz answers more out of obligation than anything else as the other man doesn't know him. Doesn't know he prefers silent answers at times. Especially now as the world was taking it's toll, but there was a large relief of his mind and shoulders when they finally exit and are in the caves once more. Relief flowing through him, though he really wish he could just nap like Eris is right now. [break][break]

Not that the League would allow it as he was on their time for the moment. [break][break]

He gives the other a look as he seems not entirely sure what he meant. Was the 'Us' in keep her safe mean Rocket? Or the other and his pokemon?
