Makoto curses, as the Sticky Glob fails to hit home. That Magnezone was going to be trouble, given that Makoto didn't have as much of an answer to it as they did with the other enemy pokemon present. But maybe they could deal with the klefki, in the meantime...? "Repeat." They commanded Haguru.

And the klinklang, at Makoto's direction, would begin to Lock On once again - this time aiming for Derek's klefki. He seemed like a troublesome pokemon much like the foongus had been - so perhaps paralyzing him would put them on the home stretch to get away...

Matsu, meanwhile, didn't seem to blink at being struck with Tri Attack - even as the mix of electricity, ice, and fire washed over the sturdy shell, it didn't seem like any of the elements would take hold quite yet. However, they didn't ignore the magnezone's attack. Rather, they'd throw themself at it - slamming the spines on the sides of their shell in Payback for the attack!

And Nobusuma, finally, would act from afar - aiming at the klefki with Supersonic, in an attempt to confuse him!

All the while though, the Aurora Veil would finally fade from the field - leaving Makoto's pokemon a bit more exposed than before.

TLDR:

derek continues to curse himself for not bringing stronger pokemon. the prospect of them dying was a risk he wouldn't take, leaving him with the team he had now. but it was his fault. should they experience defeat, it was on him. they were doing their best.

"klefki, again!" to avoid the effects of the supersonic, it projected it's crafty shield once more.

"saber, let's switch targets." the ranger's eyes fall upon the crobat. "you too jolder." shaking off the ailments imposed during battle, the scizor would make a strong return to the fight. "hit the bat as hard as you can." he hoped to pick them off one by one, leaving the foretress for last. the magnezone's flash cannon and scizor's bullet punch were his best chance of doing so.

Poor Nobusuma, he truly wasn't having a good day. Though the bat is able to narrowly avoid the scizor's Bullet Punch, the magnezone's Flash Cannon snipes him out of the air - and that's all it takes for him to crash into the ground, unconscious. Makoto is forced to recall him as well - his cargo left resting on the ground, alongside the cargo left behind by Tsume.

Which now raised the question - what now? Do they attempt to beat a hasty retreat? Hope to hold out with the remaining two pokemon on the field? Or hope that the paralyzed Tsume or last resort Kuro could turn things around? At the very least, Makoto would make to gather the fallen cargo - hoping that they could hold out long enough to have Haguru carry some of it away.

The klinklang in question wasn't happy either, though - the Crafty Shield had interfered with their Lock On, and with their focus broken, frustration grew, expressed in the sound of grinding gears. Between this and the increasingly tough situation that the group was in, they'd nonetheless decide to fire their Zap Cannon at the klefki anyways.

Matsu, meanwhile, would once more throw themself forward - this time at the paralyzed scizor - in Payback.

Makoto though, would decide that showing their hand a little - if only to ensure a half-smooth getaway - would hopefully be worth it. "Bitter Malice." They spoke - as they brought some of the cargo towards Haguru.

The shape of a Zorua could be seen rising from their shadow now - golden eyes glowing with ill intent from the dark. Ghostly blue flames rose up around Makoto and Kuro both, before surging outwards - aimed at the Scizor as well, to reduce his attacking capabilities with the ice-cold chill that the flames offered.

TLDR:
- Crobat is KO'd, drops cargo when recalled
- Klinklang's Lock On is interrupted by Crafty Shield - they attempt to fire a Zap Cannon at Klefki anyways
- Forretress attacks Scizor with Payback
- Hisuian Zorua emerges from Makoto's shadow, attacks Scizor with Bitter Malice
- Makoto is attempting to gather some of the cargo and bringing it towards Kilnklang

klefki and magnezone are the only ones left as derek's scizor finds itself on the receiving end of more than it could handle. and it wasn't alone. the klefki is struck by a zap cannon, it's metallic frame conducting the rogue shot of electricity.

shit. but it wasn't unexpected. as he runs out of options, the best route seems to be hindering their ability to transport the cargo. "hit that klingklang."

another demonstration of the magnezone's flash cannon would see to it that they had no easy time moving the shipment.

The Flash Cannon hits home; the startled Haguru makes a grinding sound as they waver in the air briefly, before stabilizing. For a moment, the face-gear begins to glow as it charges electricity - clearly intending to retaliate against the magnezone...

... But Makoto holds up a hand to stop them. "Focus the klefki." They command the klinklang. "Flash Cannon."

Perhaps they had a chance in getting out of this with a victory after all, then?

Haguru makes the grinding sound again - agitated - but follows their direction; they charge up a more silvry orb, that they fire at the paralyzed klefki instead!

In the meantime, Kuro and Matsu both focus on the enemy Magnezone - once more unleashing a one-two punch of Bitter Malice and Payback!

TLDR:

"tch." derek was running it all through his head. preparing for the loss. but that didn't make experiencing it any less frustrating. as the barrage of attacks batter his pokemon, they are helpless to it.

one by one they fall. first the klefki, who was vulnerable due to the nature of it's paralysis.

then was the magnezone, who could hold out no longer. the two attacks were the final moves on the board. she was the only one holding pieces now. deft hands reveal the vacant pokeballs, which quickly call them back.

there are no parting words. this mission was a failure. derek tosses a makeshift smokebomb, concealing his retreat whilst allowing makoto to salvage the cargo.
