As the bird tumbles through the sky, Cassius battles the monster above them. His fist slams into the Gyarados, who is forced to wrap her bleeding body around him. To try, with all her considerable might and size, to try and restrain so small a creature. Cassius is a Machamp. He’s strong. Champion of the world! The world’s strongest man! So, he takes this as a challenge. Laughs through it all. His dark fists burn with power.[break][break]
Below, Ironsides closes his eyes. The world fades. The humans cease talking. He’s just a hatchling in the nest again. Spreading his wings for the first time. He remembers his tumble from the tree. The careening freefall.[break][break]
He spreads his wings and drifts into a gentle sloping pattern. Otherwise, the humans on his back will die of whiplash. As much as Navy annoys him, he does not want the man to die. He is quite fond of him. The girl’s cute, too.[break][break]
“Come on. Look at her, up there. Cassius has that big fish right where we want her.” A flash of falling stone plays through Navy’s head. He forces it down. He can cry later. Give into his grief. He’ll die if he doesn’t push on, here in this moment.[break][break]
“Shoot up! Shoot like a missile, you old bird!”[break][break]
And Cassius complies.[break][break]
“We’ll be outta this soon, promise.”

Oh god they were fucking falling. Screw the whole feeling sick thing, she couldn't get past the feeling that they were going to fucking die. So yeah- she was screaming for dear life.[break][break]

She felt as if her heart was finally stopped operating as she mentally begged for Skarmory to do anything but falling. "uuuAAAAHHHHHH! I DON'T WANT TO DIE!!!"[break][break]

It seemed like she was too busy freaking out to accept- or even hear- any comforting words.

A galaxy of actions occur in the span of five heartbeats.[break][break]
Ironsides places his beak first, folds his wings in, goes into an attack vector. His momentum is enough to carry him forward. His whole body is one big blade. What comes next will not be pleasant for the riders, but it will prove their salvation.[break][break]
Cassius slams his darkened fists against the Gyarados, pummeling the section that Ironsides is aiming for until it is soft, tender, and vulnerable. The whole time, he is smiling. He believes in his own power. Completely, utterly. That’s just the sort of man that he is.[break][break]
Navy pulls out Cassius’s pokeball. He sees where this is going. He listens to the dainty girl clinging to his back screaming about how she’s going to die.[break][break]
“Well, I sure ain’t no Jirachi.” Navy quips. “’Cause if your wish is to die, it sure ain’t comin’ true.”[break][break]
Ironsides shoots through the Gyarados like a blade launched from an arrow. Pierces it. Goes in one side and out the other. Navy, as they pass by, recalls Cassius into his pokeball. They are covered in blood and guts before it is washed off as they fire through the rift hanging just above the Gyarados.[break][break]
The human and two Pokemon go tumbling into Granite Cave. Navy yells in triumph as his back slams into a rock wall. Ironsides just beside them.[break][break]
“What’d I tell ya?!” He asks as he looks to the rift in the middle of the floor.

It happens within moments. One second, they're falling. The next- she's covering in fucking blood. It took her a few moments to realize what the warm liquid was on her... the smell of... ugh, what the hell was that? She didn't confirm it was blood until she glimpsed at her arms and hands.[break][break]

"Oh- Oh my fucking- H-holy shit- I- I think I'm gonna-"[break][break]

Throw Up. But nope, things just got worse. Within a flash, she found herself begin propelled into a cavern wall as they went through the vortex. And, unlike Navy, she wasn't as graceful with her landing. She found herself skidding across the cavern flooring- a series of yips and yelps escaping her as she eventually slid to a halt.[break][break]

...And then she laid there, unmoving... and letting out a very soft groan of pain.

It’s not Navy that helps Amy next. Another of his Pokemon frees himself from the confines of his ball. Roland, a Gallade, who has been keeping them all going all day. While Navy huffs on the floor and recovers, he presses the ball containing Cassius and lets the Machamp out. His eyes widen as he sees that, after prolonged contact with the rift down below, he has been knocked out. His hands are pitch black. They look like they have decayed. He quickly returns the Machamp to the ball to keep him in stable condition.[break][break]
He goes to Amy, takes to a knee, and gently puts one of his arms against hers. He can’t tell if she’s injured, per se, but he still tries to help her. A cleansing water washes over her. It does not cling to her, nor make her wet, but it washes away the muck, blood, and viscera. It seeps into the wounds. For a moment, any wounds she has burns, and then begin to heal under the care of the water.[break][break]
He senses how she feels and he stands guard over her.[break][break]
“Roland’s a good guy, huh?” Navy asks as he rolls over, still catching his breath after everything that just transpired.

She could feel.... something wash over her. She didn't feel wet, but she didn't feel dry or warm either. In the darkness of the ground touching her face, she could feel how... clean she was? And what was this weird warm feeling... Oh god- was she dead? Did she hit the ground to hard and die? Oh thank god, she could finally get some peace and-[break][break]

Oh- she heard him talk again. She wasn't actually dead. Oh, how easy that would have been... Another soft groan would escape her as she raised her head to look at the Gallade- then Navy- then the rest of the pokemon around him.[break][break]

Oh- and what a pitiful look she had on her face. It looked like she'd seen death ~~which she kinda had~~. "Yeah... thank... you..." she quietly said, before letting her head plop back down onto the ground. She didn't look hurt anymore- moreso just fatigued across the board. "That was... too much... I need to be alone..."[break][break]

At this point, she didn't care about her mission. She just wanted to be at peace...

Roland sighs, stands up, and returns to Navy’s side. The second order of business is healing his master. This isn’t good, the Pokemon knows. His wounds have opened and reclosed at least three times today. Even with his psychic healing, there might be some permanent damage after all of this, if he isn’t lucky. Even if he is, he can’t keep doing this to himself.[break][break]
“Sorry, I can’t just leave you alone.” Navy says, although he doesn’t quite mean what he says. He’s not actually sorry – at least not for his actions. He’s sorry she can’t have what she wants. Small difference, but the difference is there.[break][break]
“We’re still deep in Rocket turf. They could show up any sec. We need to get you up to the surface at least.”

It was quiet, but... she let out a whimper. Our right, she did lie to him didn't he. Shit, he though she was a fucking Amy. Well, since they were out of that god forsaken place now... and he had his whole white knight thing...[break][break]

"But I am... Rocket..." It comes out like a whimper, before she looks up with a sad and dejected look upon her face. "Like... I lied. Sort of. I don't have any pokemon, I've gone through literal hell. I just wanna live man."[break][break]

A very small cry would escape her, but it would be muffled by the cavern ground. "For the love of- just leave me here. I'm grateful but... You've done enough... I can't take it anymore, everyone in this fucking place is insaneeeee-"

He can’t believe what he’s hearing. He looks at her in stunned near-silence. Roland looks down and says nothing. What’s there to say? From the moment he first left his pokeball, he felt her deception rolling off of her. There’s no point in saying anything. His master has a good heart. Roland knows he cannot see women as evil creatures. Rockets are evil. Therefore, his owner blue screens.[break][break]
Roland takes the initiative. He returns Ironsides to his ball for Navy. It’s the least he can do, for everything. Afterwards, he slips inside of his own ball. These two can talk this out among themselves.[break][break]
And what can Navy say?[break][break]
He stumbles to his feet. Stunned. Shocked. Trying to find the words. All he can do is walk forward. Look at her with wide eyes.[break][break]
“What?” He asks. “You’re joking, right?” A small pause. Another step forward.[break][break]
And then, providence saves them both from escalating this. Another rift forms beneath Navy’s feet. He falls up, up into the interdream sea. Drowning. Spinning towards another seemingly random engagement on the battlefield. Pulled from place to place by the whims of this odd realm.[break][break]
Leaving Amy there alone. Her mission, it seems, is a success.
