[attr="class","rowwtw"] Wind howled through the caverns of the Granite Cave, carrying sounds from the conflict outside. Team Rocket cut their teeth against the first line of defense, those that bravely chose to be the first to fight. Rowan wasn't trusted to be among their ranks, his defection from the criminal organization still fresh in the minds of those he was supposed to call comrades. Instead, he was chosen to stand in the way of those that pushed through the initial defenses, intended to be just another brick in the wall. [break][break]

"Shit." The anticipation was getting to him, making it difficult to stand still. This was a waste of his skills, he knew those people out there and knew how to defeat most of them. Rowan Wrynn was a Rocket Beast, not a rent-a-cop. Just as he was about to advance, the skipping of rock across stone caught his attention. Someone was coming. [break][break]

Rowan drew the mask over his mouth and pulled his hood upwards, plucking one of the Pokéballs off his belt. "If you are Team Rocket, turn around and you won't get hurt." He warned, letting his voice echo through the painted caverns.

"Is that Rowan-Fucking-Wrynn?!" Temp spoke aloud, not making any attempts at hiding who he was or that he was there. Not anymore, anyway. His voice was a poor mockery of Rowan Wrynn's Galarian accent.[break][break]

A Glaceon and Flareon were at his sides. The dark fur of them (unusual) splattered in red. They both looked at Rowan coldly.[break][break]

This was not the Temp that Rowan had last spoken with. You could see it in his eyes. An undeniable corruption lingering within them. Yet all Temp did was smile, toothy and sharp.[break][break]

"Not going to attack your dear old brother-in-law, are you?"

[attr="class","rowwtw"]A grimace stretched over Rowan's lips as a familiar voice approached, that of Tempest Quinn. "Temp." His tone wasn't friendly, notes of agitation and surprise laden throughout. "What did they do to you?" Team Rocket claimed the Pacifidlog native much like it had attempted to claim himself, the wretched machine that churned out soulless killers. [break][break]

"I don't want to fight you." Rowan began, stepping forward with a Pokéball in hand. "I will, though." He wasn't going to back down just because this man married his brother, or they'd shared a few laughs. Temp would kill him without a second thought, and that was the only concern on Rowan's mind right now.

"They?" Temp seems genuinely confused for a moment. He tilts his head like a dog might, brows knit. Then an understanding crosses him. A deep, mocking belly laugh escapes him.[break][break]

"Rowan, Rocket didn't do shit to me."[break][break]

A technicality but true. It wasn't Rocket that made Temp what he was. It was Cillian Quinn. That deep obsession with the other man that led to marriage. Temp had always been fucked up. Deeply so. Gavin had just nurtured it into a honey laden weapon for Rocket.[break][break]

A whistle.[break][break]

Rowan Wrynn might hesitate but Temp doe not. He's right. Temp would kill him and it wouldn't effect his sleep.[break][break]

A sickly mix of Shadow Ice and Flame pour from the two pokemon at Temp's side. Aimed right at Rowan.

It made him sick to his stomach, knowing that the light he used to see within Temp had been so horrifically snuffed out. [break][break]

Twin flashes of light erupted in the cavern as the Walrein and Kabutops appeared from their Pokéball in response to their attack. A pair of sharp whistles sounded from Rowan's lips, the same technique Cillian Quinn used to command his Pokémon. Gyuto stepped in front of the twin attacks, crossing both their blades and forming a barrier with PROTECT. Meanwhile, Tusk took advantage of the shield, charging a use of BRINE and blasting the powerful stream of water towards the Flareon.

"I became what I needed to be to protect the man I love." Temp smiles again, cruel and cold. His eyes narrow, sharp. "You lost the right to say his name, traitor. When I kill you I'll make it slow for breaking his heart."[break][break]

Rowan Wrynn clicks his tongue and Temp whistles in turn. They had both picked up tricks from Cillian Quinn.[break][break]

The Flareon darts forward. She picks up speed, unnatural, as grassy roots sprout under her paws. Attempting to slam into the Kabutops with a Trailblaze.[break][break]

The Brine doesn't miss. It is stopped, a crash of energy from another Shadow Frost pouring from the Glaceon's maw. This attack will not get through to Rowan or his pokemon, only halt the super effective attack from coming closer. A stalemate.

"Galar is only a phone call away, after all." He was hoping to get a rise out of the man, distracting them enough to slip up on the battlefield. Rowan had no intention of betraying Cillian Quinn , despite them not giving him the same consideration. [break][break]

Gyuto was quick to retaliate to the attack, launching themselves forward with the force of AQUA JET to match the Trailblaze. "If Gavin gave up his own brother to Declan Walsh, what do you think he'd do to you, Temp? I can guarantee he'd throw you under that same bus the moment it suited him." Another click of his tongue, sending the Walrein into the fray this time, aiming to collide a powerful BODY SLAM with the Glaceon. "No one will ever be more important to Gavin Merlino than himself."

"Like who? declan walsh?" Temp tilts his head, grin widening. "Or are you threatening to call the police and boo-hoo about an internationally wanted criminal? You don't have shit, Rowan."[break][break]

The second part might have worked. Maybe. For one split second the smallest seed of doubt was planted.[break][break]

But then Rowan Wrynn fucks up and rips it up before it even has a chance to settle. Temp barks out a harsh laugh.[break][break]

"You don't know your brother at all! No wonder you didn't give a shit and threw him down!"[break][break]

Because Rowan was just wrong. The most important thing to Cillian Quinn would never be himself. It would always be Rocket no matter what happened.[break][break]

Water and Grass clash, the Kabutops and Flareon meeting in the middle. Agni winces as the attack slams into her. Yet she doesn't fall, too vicious, too willing to die before admitting defeat. Flames collect in her mouth before another burst of Shadow Flame is unleashed at the Kabutops.[break][break]

Meanwhile, Icecube finds himself nearly crushed by the Walrein. He dodges, but not quite enough. It slams into his hind left paw, making him hobble as bones crunch. The Glaceon cries out, in pain, yet he is much like his sister. He would rather die than know defeat. A Shadow Ball is launched at the Walrein to distract as he tries to get away.

[attr="class","rowwtw"]"Gyuto, defend!" Rowan called out, seeing them about to take the brunt of a powerful move. The Kabutops raised their arms to use Protect, but couldn't prepare the move in time. The superior speed of the Shadow Pokémon caused them to catch up faster than they'd expected, suddenly becoming engulfed in a gout of Shadow Flame. "Gyuto!" Rowan watched as the Pokémon fell to their knees then the ground, badly burned from the attack. A red beam of light returned them to their Pokéball, horrified. "Tusk, detatch!"[break][break]

The Walrein huffed and dodged out of the way of the Shadow Ball in narrowly enough time, seemingly annoyed at the retreat order. Rowan had underestimated Temp, relying on the man he knew before and not the one he knew now. "This isn't over, Temp." He sneered, watching as Tusk opened their mouth and flooded the area with the ice and snow of a powerful BLIZZARD. By the time the weather subsided, the Ranger and his Pokémon were gone.
