The sounds of battle echo throughout the pit, and Luka can only hope that Remiel is faring well. She's flooded with relief when lighting flashes and he returns with the injured cadet in tow— both because they both seem okay, and because it means that Remiel hadn't been lying to her.[break][break]

But there's no time to let hte feeling overwhelm her, for the rogue fungi are still quickly closing in on them. Luka glances between the prince's hand, the Noivern underneath them, and the barely conscious cadet. Her brow furrows as she comes to a rather obvious conclusion:[break][break]

"There's no way all three of us are going to fit. Just get him out of here— I'll be fine!"[break][break]

Her voice betrays her lack of confidence, but she refuses to take his hand. Instead, Luka turns back to the growing horde, shaking fingers pulling a few items out of her bag just as the solar beam is released.[break][break]

Helios dodges out of the way, but her Audino isn't as lucky. The healing bunny goes down hard, and Luka winces as she quickly recalls her back into a love ball. "Cover your ears!" she shouts, throwing out not another Pokemon, but a scatterbang that explodes in a cacophony of sound and light.[break][break]

There comes a screech from the attacking monsters, and the distraction provides a means of escape. Helios grabs his trainer, sweeping her up bridal style and sprinting through the path they'd come from, hoping to outrun the mushrooms towards the exit.

Luka makes a good point, he supposes. In the flurry of activity, he'd simply been too worried about her to think so clearly. Nevertheless, he hesitates to leave so soon until after Helios has scooped her up into his arms and left.

It's at that point, however, that the trio of Brute Bonnet turn their attention to him in the wake of the scatterbang. Remiel is prompted to act quickly as he reaches into his gear pouch for a STICKY GLOB grenade. He casts it as they charge, and it explodes before enveloping them in a wave of viscous goo. With their attack stalled, the exiled royal spurs his Noivern to beat its wings and ascend upward in swift flight.

Once they're truly clear of the Paradox Pokémon below, Remiel lifts a hand to activate his earpiece and communicate with Luka. "Luka, can you hear me? I'll go ahead and drop the cadet off at the exit. You should meet us there, too."

Her voice is slightly muffled by the sound of air rushing past as Helios sprints the two of them to safety. But then again, the sound from Remiel's device is about the same. She can still make out what he's saying however, and nods even though he can't see it.[break][break]

"I'll meet you there. And, um..."[break][break]

After everything that's happened, being cordial with the prince feels strange and familiar, all at once. She can't decide if she likes it or not.[break][break]

In that moment, despite the trauma shaken cadet in his arms and the whipping winds to each side of him, Remiel cannot hear or pay attention to anything more than Luka's voice. Speechless but for a moment, he eventually makes his reply.

"I will. You be careful, too..."

Was it smart to add anything more? Even if he was sincere? Probably not. He could only imagine what was going through her mind at the moment. She must have debated saying that at all. Though he felt relieved to have, at least, had the chance to prove himself when it came to working with the League.

Her voice is stilted and awkward, the conflict she's feeling made manifest upon normally dulcent tones. There are too many thoughts whirling about her head to process in any meaningful way.[break][break]

Remiel is a Rocket, and that makes her furious. But he isn't anymore— or so he claims, and that makes her confused. And relieved, and frightened, and frustrated for allowing herself to get caught up in his mess again. It would be better if they never meet after this, if their paths never again cross.[break][break]

She can tell herself that she'll never see or speak to him again, but even in her head she knows it's a lie.[break][break]

There's silence on her end of the line for a long while. It's unclear what Luka might be up to, though it's safe for Remiel to assume that she's headed for the exit. However, when her voice filters through the comms again it sounds alarmed, confused, and disoriented.[break][break]

The words are garbled and hard to make out. Eventually some manage to filter through, though they're laced with unintelligible static. "Um.......dr-...mist. G-... some cover, please."

The interaction certainly delves into the realm of awkward. Though, frankly, Remiel has a lot of experience with that. He's not exactly made uncomfortable by the fact either and simply lets the words sink in where they will.

He continues thinking about her and all the mistakes he's made as he travels through the Ultra Sea. Sometime after their transmission with one another 'ends', however, he is abruptly roused out of his thoughts with sharp static in his ears. Eyes widen as the static clears to reveal her voice.

"Luka? Luka, can you hear me!?"

But there's no response.

"Stay where you are! I'm coming to find you!" He adds, spurring his Noivern's flight with a kick of his heels as he curses having to drop the cadet off at the exit first.
