She was smeared in gore and staggering across the shifting gray landscape in a fugue state. Her mind kept replaying Feldspar’s death, over and over again, green smeared with red, tendrils of red sluicing down crystalline points of blue ice.

She stumbled, and Twilight reached back to catch her, steadying her by her shoulders and looking her up and down concernedly. He wiped a smear of blood from her cheek and sighed, turning to lead them on.

Paxton isn't watching and waiting when he encounters a gory unknown traversing the landscape. He's en route to pick up information on his next moves. Where was he needed now? The fights were raging on and Paxton needed to continue traveling to and fro, back and through the realms, until the fighting was exhausted or he was. It's on one of these resupply runs he sees ana fell in the distance. [break][break]

After first he forgets it may just be a trap, a lone Rocket. Mainly because he can see her stagger from his position. His hand moves up to issue a comms. "Cassidy to HQ, intercepting lone target en route to position Golf." he said, transmitting his position as he identified himself. He doesn't step closer to her, dropping his hand form his helmet and pulling the safety off the rifle. "You! Identify yourself. Do you need medical assistance?" he's not exactly the Red Cross, but he could stop some bleeding. Especially when he can clearly see dark red stains on her and her pokemon.

[attr="class","thadmain"]Twilight stops in the face of the stranger, but Cyg, in her fugue state, doesn’t; she keeps going until she stumbles into the Lucario with an oof, stepping back and finally looking up with a miffed expression, curious as to why they’ve stopped.

“Identify yourself,” she shoots back, voice hoarse from screaming. She has cuts on her arms and legs and face, her mascara is streaked black down her cheeks, and she just looks. Absolutely miserable.

She's suspicious, in more ways than one but this is a battlefield. "Landon Cassidy." Paxton reaches for his rifle, squinting at the stranger. "Identify yourself." he repeated, clicking the safety off the rifle while his Fletchling takes to the skies off his shoulder. [break][break]

Foxtrot circled overhead chirping to make itself know, smoke trailing it as it prepared an EMBER attack. "Who are you? Where are you coming from?" he asked the trainer, distressed as she might be, he doesn't recognize her. He doubts she's a ranger, but he can't be sure if she's a civilian who snuck through or someone from another squad that's delirious from blood loss.

Paxton begins to run, despite being familiar with how persistent AURA SPHERES could be. Still, he could delay it. He keeps his rifle aimed low as he takes off running while Foxtrot dives to intercept the AURA SPEHERE. There's a small blast and he's blasted backwards but flaps up to show he's still kicking. [break][break]

"Roger." he sets up, pulling the rifle close to his chest to keep the buttstock pressed into his shoulder. He closes one eye and takes aim while his pokemon glows and shoots of a spitfire of EMBER attacks at the pair.

[attr="class","thadmain"]The little shit turns tail and runs while the Aura Sphere doggedly chases in his wake. Cyg thinks that’s the end of it, thankfully, so she, equally as stubborn, continues to walk forward, feet a near-shuffle in the dirt.

A stream of sparks fly at them and Twilight bats them away like shooing away flies, throwing out his left paw to shoot a flash cannon at the bird.

Paxton takes a shot at the Lucario, the rifle punching into his shoulder as he held it steady. There's a muffled bang at the pokemon moves and a shot intended for the heart goes into the chest. He loads another round into the chamber as Foxtrot chirps in panic and pain, getting grounded by the FLASH CANON. [break][break]

Sparks linger on the tiny bird's body but it flutters weakly, taking off into the skies before dive bombing at the Lucario to administer a solid PECK at the pokemon's neck. As he does, Paxton begins calling the incident in. "Cassidy to HQ, intercepting hostile target in Sector Alpha while en route to Outpost Charlie." he fires another shot to keep the pressure on as his partner goes in for the attack.

The bullet goes through Twilight’s chest just to the left of his sternum, at close enough range to blow a decent sided hole through him. Cyg whirls at the sound of it, eyes flying wide; in an almost sad moment, Twilight reaches up at that moment to take the tiny robin’s body in his paw, crushing it with a twist of his wrist. He holds the dead bird for a second and turns to look at Cyg with a pained look on his face as the second bullet blows through his midsection.

“What the fuck--,” Cyg whirls on the gunman, in a shock-induced disbelief that this is happening, this senseless, needless violence, all because she didn’t want to give him her fucking name.

She’s charging at him before she even knows what she’s doing.

Foxtrot is crushed with such ease, they barely make a sound as they perish. But as their cries fade, the Lucario also seems to slump downward. Paxton opens his eyes, loading another in the chamber at Cygne comes running for him. She's faster than expected and he can't quite aim the killer blow. [break][break]

Instead he fired again, the bullet going for the woman's torso in an attempt to get her to drop. Though, he's already certain its just another Rocket. It'd at least stop her before he could put her out of her misery for good. The kelp growing from around his right eye peeks under the helmet, growing longer as a strange response to the adrenaline of the moment.
