The tingling sensation from the Flygon's humming flutter and the guidance from the wind-powered AVIAN ARROWS offset each other, though she still had to be careful not to nick the dragon-type's nearly invisible wings. On the first pass, her aim was all over the place, still trying to get used to how the vibration would affect her. The second pass was a different story, even hitting a bull's-eye or two on the way back. She tallied her score and came up just short of the lowest target score on the board.

"Looks like I've got a lot of work to do, too," she remarked as she watched Mikael finish shooting. "I missed a lot of your session - how did it go? Getting the hang of it?"

The arrival of Shalin caught his attention and he turned stopped shooting to turn and face her. ”I’ve always had a knack when it comes to learning how to use most weapons,” he explained when she talked about having to catch up. Once he had gotten use to the weight and heeded the directions she had given him it hadn’t been too hard.

”It has gone well and I think so. Of course I have a long way to go before I master the skill,” he told her as he set aside the bow and arrows. Now that she was back he was curious about how she had done. And since they were interacting with one another he wanted to give her his full attention.

"I've found a similar knack with riding on Pokémon," Shalin related her own special talent. "Yours is probably more useful if you're gonna be on the front lines. I hope the League never calls me out to that horrible war again." Wishful thinking, Shalin; it was modern-day Hoenn. As long as Rocket existed, war was inevitable and perpetual. The more well-known she became, the more likely she was to be conscripted again.

The discussion turned toward their session results. Shalin didn't seem too happy with hers; she hadn't even made the lowest rank on the course's scorecard. "Sandy's vibration makes it so much harder to aim," she subtly shifted the blame away from herself, "but it's something I'll need to get used to. Almost all my flying Pokémon are like that. If it's not her, it's a Yanmega or Beedrill."

Sliding down from her Pokémon, Shalin graciously accepted Mikael's offer of a water bottle. "Thanks!" As she attempted to twist the cap off, the bottle slid out of her tingling hands. "Oops!" she chirped, carefully bending down to pick it up, then deciding it was better if she took a seat at a nearby table first. The second try was a success; the cold, refreshing liquid tickled her tingling throat. "This place's facility is really good. If you come back regularly, you'll be a sharpshooter in no time."

The two made small talk for a bit longer before Shalin waved goodbye. "I hope we get to see each other again. You seem like a really nice guy, Mikael. I'm headed back to Petalburg." With that, she withdrew her dragon for Corona, a Charizard that was quick to crouch and let his trainer astride him. With a powerful flap of his wings, the two were airborne and southbound.
