He dashes across the plains on the back of a fiery steed. Bundled in so many layers of warm clothing, he could pass for a knight of old. A knight upon the plain. Pokemon have already caught his scent. They howl and lope towards him. A solemn, somber task falls upon his shoulders. He and another person hired for this task, a botanist by the look of her, are to deliver supplies to a ranger outpost.[break][break]

Supplies they desperately need here, so far removed from civilization. It’s hard for most Pokemon to tolerate this climate, let alone humans. Navy’s Rapidash, Silver Bullet, is uniquely equipped for the task. Fire rolls off of her. Fire is her mane. She was born in fire. The flames scorch and burn the ground under the mighty horse’s feet.[break][break]

“C’mon, girl.” He urges the horse forward. Silver Bullet charges off. They’ve miles to go yet before they reach the outpost. Looking off to his side at lilith eirwin, riding her own horse, he shouts out a warning.[break][break]

“Look out!” A wild Skarmory swoops down from the skies, meaning to grab the woman off her horse and abscond back to a test.

[attr="class","hanatext"]Where Michael Navidson's steed dashes with steps that churn and sear the snow, hers glides effortlessly over the bitter frost. A creature of the desolate north, with a spirit seemingly forged from the echoes of eternal glaciers - The Glastrier is a chiseled beauty that surely has purpose far greater than pulling mere cargo across the land. And yet, is it not disgraceful for such a regal equine to fail the simplest of task?

Perhaps, it's bravery that allows this Skarmory to approach so carelessly, talons glistening like the blanketing snow as they ready themselves to sink into the fragility of human. Perhaps, it's contempt for a beast that has allowed themselves to be tamed by the weakest beings that dare to roam these lands. Regardless of where such daring originates from, Sylvatica will not simply stand by and allow their pride to be ripped into.

An icicle solidifies in the air, accelerating and aimed for the Skarmory's side. Jagged edges plunge deep through the raptor's body, crystalline fragments shattering into dust as red splatters against the snow.

This wild beast is given a great honor. Few, man or Pokemon, can say they have had the privilege to be defeated by a legend. Who can say what becomes of the Skarmory that tried to attack them? It falls by the wayside, defeated. Its joints freeze. Weak cries of protest grow distant as the two riders beat a path forward, through this chill. Civilization beckons to them. The sooner this is done, the sooner they can go home.[break][break]
Who can say whether this is a brief sojourn into one anothers’ lives or the beginning of something greater. Meaning is something so often ascribed by historians after the fact. In the moment, there is only the race – only the incessant need to push forward.[break][break]
Yet more dangers block their path. A whole pack of danger. From mounds of snow along the way, half a dozen Sneasel, led by a Weavile, jump out. They snicker and flash their honed, quick claws. They aim dark night slashes at both riders. Like their contemporary farther back up the path, they fancy themselves the sort of creatures who can take down a legend.[break][break]
Silver Bullet is having none of their nonsense. She barrels forward. Opening her mouth wide, a gout of flame spills out. Her fire blast takes some of them by surprise. Jumping through her own flames, she bounds on.[break][break]
“Woooo!” Navy cheers. He’s the sort of animal who lives for this danger.

[attr="class","hanatext"]Sometimes, she wonders if pokemon truly are capable of recognising a threat. The rowdy group that descends upon them are nothing more than that, creatures who have overestimated their capabilities as an Avalanche sweeps through their ranks.

Death is unfortunate, death is a necessity, death is a cycle. These Sneasels may not face an immediate death in that wave of snow, but tomorrow perhaps they might find themselves starving over the lack of prey. With pokemon frozen within unmelting ice in these wastelands, there will be no carcasses to ravage. And soon enough, they may join those unfortunate souls in their fate.

Such thoughts are pointless in the grand scheme of things, she will not linger on things that she cannot change, that she has no interest in changing. And she finds that the same thoughts shall apply to the way that Michael Navidson cheers - A thrill seeker? A battler through and through? As long as it doesn't cloud his judgement, nor affect their workflow, who is she to judge what he enjoys?

Bright red fingertips tap at the Glastrier's mane, urging them not to fall behind even as the flames flicker and dance before their eyes. As reluctant as they may be to step through the rising heat, they eventually relinquish such an attitude. Determined not to be outdone in their own domain, their Chilling Neigh echoes through the icelands as they crash through the curtain of fire and begin to pull ahead.

Those mistaken for easy prey instead prove to be apex predators. Silver Bullet leaves streaks of flames with every step, scorching the landscape. Burning away the snow, revealing the beauty that might once have been here. Sneasels are caught by either this fire or ice. There is no path that does not lead to their destruction. They may think the ice is their domain, but they merely adopted the ice. Lilith’s steed was born amidst glaciers. Silver Bullet was born to melt glaciers.[break][break]
It truly is the definition of rock and a hard place. No other way to put it.[break][break]
“C’mon, girl.” Navy urges his mount as they pass a checkpoint. Can’t be much farther now. Just another mile. Another mile along this frosty trail, lined with Pokemon that want to make short work of them.[break][break]
They pass through what looks like a battlefield. Swords are pierced into the ground all around them. Freshly placed swords. Ice hasn’t taken on them yet.[break][break]
“These guys must think we were born yesterday.” It doesn’t take a detective to see a Honedge swarm coming. Silver Bullet opens her mouth as the cloth along the swords begins to move. They look to the two riders. Silver Bullet unleashes a fire blast, spraying them with flame. They screech. A few manage to power through. They try and unleash a sacred sword slash on both riders.

[attr="class","hanatext"]The checkpoint enters her vision, then fades with the snow. It's a cruel place that will provide no moment of respite, swords drawn from the earth as their edges seek blood.

"Your tongue will freeze if you keep talking."

Her voice cuts through the clang of swords, her Glastrier dancing amidst the Honedges as they fend off the metal storm. Hardened ice remains impenetrable to cold steel, Sylvatica's temper quickly waning as their carefully chiselled mane threatens to chip away. And they'll grab one between their icy teeth, stomping down on another and shattering through a frozen body.
