"seems like you're getting used to the cold." derek speaks to the sobble walking besides him. while the little scarf wrapped around jonesy helped, he knew just how much the little guy disliked the cold last time.

although jonesy is relucant to agree, turning his head away with attitude. derek can't help but smile as the two press further into the barren tundra. maybe a battle would help the sobble to warm up a little...

the unexpected hostility of a forretress is met by jonesy's dragon hammer, sending the foe flying such a distance that it would not be able to catch back up with the duo.

"woah, talk about sending it—you hit that thing to the horizon!" a gentle pat on the sobble's head reassured it there was nothing wrong with fighting back. even if jonesy preferred to cower behind the leg of it's trainer...

"how about another?" there were definitely others in these icelands that could help to gauge jonesy's growth.

another opponent stands before them before long. jonesy is not so easily able to dispatch of the problem creature this time, his dragon hammer hardly knocking it back a few yards.

an effective grass type attack is enough for the trainer to step in, releasing a SALAMENCE to finish the job. the flamethrower commanded of it is quick to fell the beast, allowing them to proceed.

"sorry i butt in on that one, jonesy." derek can tell his pokemon is disatisfied with him both pushing it to grow, only to treat him like a baby.

"i haven't taught you how enough to take on fully evolved grasstypes like that. but... maybe we'll work on that when we get home, yeah?" a simple nod is afforded the trainer, quickly following along beside derek as he presses further into the tundra.

"you can take this one." derek suggests to his sobble as the silhouette of a froslass comes into view. he knows the little guy has at least one advantage. "sucker punch." before the glacier's ghost can land an attack, jonesy pursues it's flank to deliver a considerable blow.

whatever form it comes in, resistance is obvious. the ice shard impacts upon jonesy's gentle hide, causing him to wince. a swinging motion of the hands is all derek offers the little guy, trying to get him to make connections in battle without the use of words.

the dragon hammer slams through a second ice shard, sending it crashing back into the froslass with the hammer close behind. it doesn't withstand the attack, and falls unconscious.

"nice one, jonesy." derek remarks with a pinch to the sobble's cheek before hoisting it up on his shoulders. "now let's get out of this cold." though it would only get colder as they quickly flew through the arctic terrain, the salamence they rode upon would quickly return them to a much warmer petalburg city.
