THE ULTRA PLANT IS A DARK WORLD that is wracked by frequent thunderstorms. Lightning spears the desolate canyons and valleys of this world and massive cord-like structures bridge the gaps. Whenever lightning strikes, lights attached to these cords light up too. In the horizon, large Xurkitree can be seen, dwarfing the area you arrive in...[break][break]

Several abandoned power stations can be found throughout the area, but they seem to be deactivated...

wolfgang brings with him a bag for the expedition. although there was no immediate need, taking samples of everything to fully understand the realm they have invaded.

how does the environment affect the fulgurite? or was it the other way around? what other properties were present that made this site site perfect for the megalopolan's plants that can be likened to their source back on hoenn?

questions can be asked, but no one can answer them but themselves.

wolfgang takes a sample of the mineral and places them on a container before stuffing it back to his bag. efforts to understand them were already made, but it was better to take more samples while they're already here than go back when there was less of a reason to.

"how are you holdin' up?" he asks james, who has been quiet this entire time.

a stakataka appears to approach them from afar, noticing their activity in its area. it's the standard security measure for the world it seemed, and their trespassing has attracted its attention.

furthermore, the area around them start to feel heavier, pulling them closer to the ground.

"the fuck?! is this the defense mechanism here?"

he attempts to keep on his feet but falls to his knees. he turns to the other people around him, ready to bark a complaint, but he bites his tongue instead.

"oi," he calls james, "get your ultra beast to do somethin', aight?"

he calls out his riolu, helping hand ready to fell the stack of blocks heading their way.

FERNANDO FINDS HIMSELF ON HIS KNEES. the sudden distortion of GRAVITY even causes his XURKITREE to become flaccid and frail. thunder sounds the approaching storm with bolts of lightning drawing closer.

amongst the approaching ULTRA BEAST are sparse pockets of yellow glimmer. natural born crystals unique to this environment. they come alive at the mere presence of eletric pokemon.

“baker,” fernando yells with a pointed finger.

blessed with so many of these rare mineral gives them a chance to strike back. Z-MOVE may be a sparse trump card back in their universe, but here? its teeming with energy.

"twizzlers! ahead of us!"

perhaps more familiar with the GRAVITY, his xurkitree slides along the ground and out of the pull. it uncurls and reaches out to WRAP around one of the ELECTRIUM Z-CRYSTALS while at the same time POWER WHIPPING the hoard back.

the GRAVITY passes.

his two companions attempt to subdue the ultra beast. his last encounter with it ended with him being unable to make a dent out of it, but their pokemon managed this time.

it's a clear disparity between the tools in their disposal.

"you guys already got yours anyways."

the stakataka was the main defense unit of these plants around this weird part of ultra space. sturdy, resilient and obedient, it's what most people unprepared for the worst would want in a meat shield.

"this one's mine!"

he powers through the pull of the ground and takes a pokeball he fashioned out of things salvaged out of the three-day war, as well as tools they found in ultra space, and throws it at the stakataka.

it was a project to work on. he never got to practice the skills he got from azalea before he finished the prototype anyways.

THE BATTLE, and hence their attempt to double Z-MOVE, is cut short by the introduction of wolfgang’s invention. the prototype pokeball sucks up the STAKATAKA with an anti-climatic conclusion. the sudden tension dissipates, like lightning after it strikes.

what’s left to explore is the remnants of an old building. teeming with technology that has long lost its shelf life. however, one console comes to life with the sudden activity. its last entry, a journal, starts to sprawl across the screen.

was it this easy?

wolfgang grumbles to himself as he picks up the pokeball containing the ultra beast. it felt more disappointing to have it work immediately, given that he won't be able to improve it much with it, but he'll take it if that meant he has an ultra beast in his disposal now.

"drk triad?" he asks as he gets back from retrieving the ball containing the stakataka. "ain't this megalopolan territory?"

as far as he knows, there's no correlation between the two parties. surely, the drk triad wouldn't hinder the rocket's advance if they were working with the megalopolans back at littleroot.

"ya sayin' there's a correlation between the two?"

furrowed brows highlight the severity of their discovery. while some characters remain unreadable until translated, enough of the diary is legible to make a connection to past events. someone’s white hair is a striking enough feature to come to mind.

“the drk triad visited here.”

they’re still missing several dots to make a solid connection. undoubtedly, whatever the last few words would be the missing piece. something they’d have to uncover later. in a safer environment.

“it’s probably connected to why all the megalopolan settlements are destroyed.”

he spares a glance at the ball in his hand.

they were stronger than any regular pokemon, requiring the people of hoenn tremendous effort just to capture one compared to ones in their own world. the destruction from an army of them had been displayed, and if the remnants of their civilization managed that much mayhem on hoenn, wolfgang could just imagine the strength they had in their prime.

apparently not enough to go against the drk triad, he thinks.

"looks like they don't have this place monitored at least."

the place was abandoned and in disarray despite promising to be a sufficient power plant. he surmises everything that can be said in the story, but he leaves his thoughts for himself.

"how much time do we have left, buddy?" he asks james.

it was only a matter of time before the effects of the environment get to them, as it was with any other packet of ultra space.
