THE ULTRA CRATER IS A LARGE EXPANSE UNDERNEATH A YELLOW SKY. In between thick, almost impassable jungles, craters filled with green fields and alien plants lay. What appears to be metal pipe-like roots grow out the rock of crater walls. Geysers dot this alien landscape, occasionally expelling shrieking steam.[break][break]

The world is frequented by earthquakes, causing odd red monoliths of rock to quake throughout the realm. Oddly, the Ultra Thicket possesses very fertile soil. In the distance, a large mountainous expanse can be seen, though the range does not seem too high.

He doesn't know what the point of this mission was supposed to be. Swords don't ask those sorts of questions. They simply swing. All he knows is that they are beset on all sides by a thousand foes.[break]
What peculiar things they are, too. Each of them is only a tad bigger than his hand, but they pack an immense punch. The swarm cuts through the bamboo like it's not even there. Trees screech and fall. Monsters sense intruders. They're coming for them. All of them.[break]
The blade anticipates the cut. Until given further orders, he will do what he is meant to do: cut. Jubei, his Ceruledge, emerges from his pokeball. Neither trainer nor Pokemon particularly care for one another, but their hearts beat as one. Pointing off towards one of the main swarms, Jubei charges.[break]
Jubei is afforded an overwhelming advantage. His bitter blade scorches these creatures. They are sent flying back, shrieking in anger. His two blades seem less blades at all and more a pair of drumsticks. One advances. One retreats. Repetition.[break]
The black swordsman sways, deflecting blows that are coming from all sides. Even with his flames, he will still be overwhelmed given time. There are simply too many of these monsters.[break]
"What's the call?" Hitoshi asks Rocket's sword, shield, and fist. "I ain't so keen on dyin' here when I made a promise to stay alive."

Bryan escapes one of the larger big bamboo trees before suddenly it's cut in half by one of the kartana chasing them. It was too dangerous to tree stride here as he lobs out a pokeball sending out his silvally. He found hitoshi easily as the swordsman asks what they should do. [break][break]

"Easy." he says as silvally uses PROTECT as one of them tries to use LEAF BLADE on bryan. It collides with his silvally's protect and stops the move in its tracks. "Fight back, prove your worth here, grunt." he says as a somewhat, but not really, term of endearment as Bryan knew very little so far about him. But from what he had heard about him, they would get along fabulously.

They weren't scientist, after all. Expecting deep level research would be a redundancy punctuated by their swift attacks and negligible examination of the unearthly terrain.

While the newbie and beast added weight to their attacks back onto the swarming ambush, Felix made an exit through the bamboo with his CROBAT. Through a series of AIR CUTTERY a pathway was paved through intricate slices.

His eyes flitted to the new face.

"First mission?"

He didn't recall seeing his face before - not that his memory meant anything. Felix held a nasty habit of forgetting.

once again, they were at the ultra crater.

[break][break] last time had not yielded much results, so it didn't hurt to have an extra sword on their hands. jayden glanced over at Hitoshi Inoue, knowing the grunt to be useful when it came to wielding a blade, and with bryan delarosa also with them, the operation should go by smoothly.

[break][break] all of it was at least much easier than going to the borders, and he had promised fern delaney - at least momentarily - that he'd stay away.

[break][break] wheras bryan delarosa and Felix Gallagher console the grunt with words, jayden takes another route. logic at it's best.

[break][break] "you won't die," jayden says simply, as he slashes down the monsters by the gleam of his sygna suit's BITTER BLADE. his ceruledge is right beside him, slashing it down in equal aim.

[break][break] they'd murdered swarms of rats beneath starlight casino. this was no different. just slightly bigger monsters, with bigger blades.

[break][break] "Yumi Hasegawa's blade," he supplies to his shield. "we went on a mission beneath starlight casino a few weeks prior."

[break][break] "he'll make sure not to die."

[break][break] jayden glances sharply at the other, nearly like a warning, even though one is not needed. as he does so, he ducks as a wild ultra beast swings at him with a stray night slash — cutting down a row of bamboo. once again, the unhuman voice rings out as if on command:

A shield clarifies.[break]
A fist directs.[break]
A blade cuts with decisive words.[break]
They will not die here. They will take what they can. They will overpower these monsters from another world with strength.[break]
There is kinship with the blade, as much kinship as a dog can have with a human. This resplendent blade wields his sword with a humanity Hitoshi could never hope to emulate. It is logic honed along the edge of a sword. Its bitter blade burns a cool blue, dancing with the sharp reds of this dog's world.[break]
These creatures, which when left to his own devices he would call cool, swarm him. Growling in annoyance at their omnipresence, he charges forward. Jubei is close by. This creature, a lowly grunt striking out ahead of the great veterans of this cause, strikes with reckless wild abandon. Perhaps to the untrained eyes, they are pointless strikes. They exert too much force. Wild swings.[break]
Like nature itself, there are means and methods within the chaos. Strokes that seem too loose land his blade precisely where it needs to be to push them back. Milliseconds make all the difference. Life and death are separated by a thin line. Were it not for these wild motions, Hitoshi's foes would not be precisely where Jubei's flame blades pierced.[break]
Swing. Pierce. Back and to the left. Forward charge through the chaos. A dog howls. Kartana snicker. He rushes through the forest, towards the fortress where these creatures dwell.[break]
"Oi, blade. Show me what your sword can do." His voice is frantic in a breathy way, his lungs an overworked factory, but his eyes are pleading. There is such beautiful humanity in the sword's strokes.[break]

Ugh this thing was fucking annoying. [break][break]

He growls in annoyance as he hears the inhumane voice, it seemed like their devices could record it and play it backwards for them to understand it. [break][break]

"A worthless object huh?! How about some mass produced stuff then?!" he shouts in anger as Bryan calls upon Xerneas to aid him as the deer emerges shining brilliantly under the glow of GEOMANCY, the abundant plant life here making him use it quicker than normal. [break][break]

"Black briar!" he orders as Xerneas complies, a tree of life erupts from the ground, pushing some of the bamboo forest away and bryan uses his avatar abilities to push all of the briar thorns to encapsulate only the KARTANA. His goal was never to defeat it with that z-move, the beast could probably cut it down with ease, but the caveat was that the tree could continue to create new plants. [break][break]

What would win out? The tree or the ultra beast. [break][break]

His goal was to buy time, he tree strides through the tree of life he created and rushes towards Hitoshi Inoue. "Listen kid, I'm no good with a sword. It's up to you and your pokemon. I'll make sure you can keep going." he says as he emerges from the tree and places a hand on Hitoshi's back, slowly restoring his lost stamina with his surplus of infinity energy he shares.

there are countless beasts upon them.

[break][break] even as the words ring out in an unhuman way, jayden can feel the words ring in his conscious. he ducks beneath the attack, eyes flickering between their dog and their wolverine. bryan delarosa's response is loud and aggressive, as he's expected it to be. the bright glow of his legendary aids him, erupting the ground with power.

[break][break] the rocket admin darts along the path parallel to Hitoshi Inoue. in his hand, he wields his own blade. compared to the singular sword that the rocket grunt wields, jayden holds the hilts of his doublade in his hands. they slash down clean upon his victims, swift with an accuracy that had taken nearly three decades to hone.

SHADOW SNEAK releases the second blade into the earth, only to plunge it into the back of the ultra beast as blood splurts before them. jayden pulls it out mercilessly, just in time to slash against another.

[break][break] his eyes glance towards Hitoshi Inoue's own. the greedy, hungry tilt of his amber eyes stirs something within jayden. a mutual ambition. a hidden thrill. he tempers it, turning back towards Felix Gallagher.

[break][break] "this won't last forever. we need to end this, and end it quickly."

[break][break] and it is then that he sees it. at the end of the path, a bamboo fortress heavily guarded by kartana.

Every limb of their team dove into their unsaid obligations. It was only Felix who lingered, set more on ensuring their safety than participating in the biting fight forward. While they swung, he clashed his shield against the iron blades digging for openings, using his ace, gallade's, WIDE GUARD and SACRED BLADE as means to fend off the ensuing attacks.

"this won't last forever. we need to end this, and end it quickly."

His eyes flick back toward jayden cross - he was right. They had to push through, and fast.

A steady nod conveyed all Felix wanted to say: I got it.

One foot behind the other, he kicked himself forward, pushing past the other two toward the front of their group. Then, with his free hand, he reached for his garchomp and salamance, releasing both in a spectacle of red crimson and shrieking roars.

"Clear a path with twister!"

The two draconic beasts nodded before melding their efforts into one continuous pool of swirling energies. Slowly, coalescing into one overpowering twister, their powers were pushed forward, creating a pathway through the swarming enemies, leading straight to the bamboo fortress.

All they needed was to finish what bryan delarosa started.

Ambition isn't something that should exist in a dog's world. A dog's world is one of instincts. Hunger, fatigue, lust, simple emotions like that drive a dog. Base things like that make this beast swing his blade in such a wild way, his Ceruledge circling him in a fiery dance of death. Briars line the path. A wolverine speaks to him, encourages him, heals the wounds that inevitably form on Jubei's body and his own.[break]
What a beautiful dance. Two blades dancing as one. Repetition, symmetry, flow. His boss's bladework is exquisite. Memories unbidden come now in the midst of battle, of guarding Yumi at school trips and dates to museums. He remembers dull eyes and how they failed to understand the beauty of art. Someone poured their soul into the vessel of a canvas or a decorated pot only to have their work wasted on his eyes.[break]
Watching this bladework, he thinks he finally understands. Vexed by Rocket's blade, he almost misses a blow from a Kartana that would have cost him his head. Only instinct saves him now, as it always has. A flick of the blade upward. Jubei's bitter blade ever following a moment later, a flickering shadow against the still bamboo.[break]
He wants to swing his sword like that. He must swing his blade like that - as a human would. Gripping his katana, twisting it in his hands, he sees the army coming for him.[break]
Jubei is recalled. In his place is conjured an Aegislash. It's a hefty western sword, taller than Hitoshi. He charges the army with a howl in his throat - a battle cry of humanity. He, too wishes to be a blade.[break]
"Come on, then! Let's end this quickly!" He cuts into these chittering blades with a sacred sword, swinging that heavy blade quicker than someone his size has any right to. He hits them like a bowling ball, sending Kartana flying like so many pins. He's surrounded. In his rush for offense, he has utterly forgotten to cover himself. His Aegislash desperately tries to cover Hitoshi with the king's shield, but it won't be enough - not by itself.

If it was a one on one, the beast would have easily killed any of them and finished it together, but this was an advantage that humans had over pokemon. [break][break]

They worked together. The unified efforts of Hitoshi, Bryan and Felix were enough to not only successfully defend against the creature but actually push it back, the metal sound, the twister, bryan's z-move all worked together to support Jubei's bitter blade and sacred sword. [break][break]

Xerneas sees the king's shield and lends his support as the z-move was automatically continuing. "Do not falter. One is here." he says as he sends his energy forward, using a protect attack behind the king's shield to assist in defending. However Xerneas doesn't stop, the protect continues to enlarge, enveloping hitoshi in a second protective barrier. [break][break]

"Alright im going on the offense now!" he says as he tosses out his shiny Silvally "Multi attack!" he orders as silvally's boost against ULTRA BEASTS ACTIVATES. the forest slowly starts to transform into a chaotic environment, ice, fire, electricity that starts to attack the ultra beasts while xerneas maintains the barrier around the group.

no words need to be spoken. in silence, a sword and shield can move as one.

[break][break] violent twisters rip the path in two, providing just enough of a distraction for the rocket admin to slash down with his words. SACRED SWORD easily cleaves multiple beneath the steel edge of hungry blades.

[break][break] no one other than the bringer of life protects them, a PROTECT glimmering along the three champions. each different in their own right. the shield, the sword, the dog.

[break][break] chromatic colors leak through the forest at the sight of their beast's multi-attack. it paints the air in with glimmering light, casting blinding rainbows upon a canvas.

[break][break] but even as they fight, kartana after kartana come leaking through. it is almost as if it is an endless pit of them. where are they all coming from? as his blade crashes against that of a kartana's brand, violet eyes cut through the space.

[break][break] "we need to find the leader," he grunts, ducking just as he plunges his blade into a kartana's chest.

"Oh, yeah?" The dog asks with a rare smile. His leader's words kindle something within him long dormant. Within him dwells the blood of a samurai. Telling a dog with samurai blood to bring him the head of the enemy commander is a dangerous thing.[break]
So, he cuts.[break]
And cuts.[break]
And cuts.[break]
Inoue Hitoshi could have been a conductor. With the Aegislash in his hands, taking the form of a long horse-cleaver blade, there is no wasted movement. The blade goes exactly where he wants it to go. What errors there are, the spirit within the sword course corrects. It comes down heavy as judgement on the head of the kartana.[break]
The leader's not far off. Just a little farther. Just a few more cuts. A handful of footsteps. A dollop of blood, if these creatures can even bleed.[break]
He floats in their bamboo forest looking the part of a shogun. It's a foot or so taller than the rest, double the size. The color's different, too. Instead of orange, there's deep red. Hitoshi and the leader lock eyes.[break]
Behind him would be a swarm, were it not for Rocket's fist. His Silvally makes them screech, cry, die.[break]
All to put his fury cutter on the right path. The heavy blade swings down on the leader.[break]
"I just can't tell a guy like you no, Senpai." He smiles at Rocket's blade as his sword cleaves apart the leader.

Bryan hears Jayden tell them they need to find the leader. [break][break]

"Surely it's the biggest on then isn't it?!" he shouts as he tries to find out where to even attack. [break][break]

He spots a massive sized one as it slashes a majority of the bamboo forest with one swing. Bryan frowns at it as it manages to slice him but the slash did cleave him in two as he managed to clap his hands just at the right time to catch the blade. Blood starts to pour over his face as it manage to slash at his forward. "SILVALLY!" he orders as the pokemon starts to download the fire silvally memory. "MULTI ATTACK! HITOSHI GET IT!" he shouts as he tries to keep the pokemon still.
