Ultra Megalopolis - Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

A RUINED CITY IN ULTRA SPACE. It is unclear whether this is a different universe's Ultra Megalopolis or smaller colony. Regardless, it is a dark city with intermittent sections of flickering, artificial light... Large, black prism-like skyscrapers loom above flat black streets. Much ruin has fallen here, but you get the sense that you're not alone...

Remiel Calcifet PROVES TO BE AN EFFECTIVE LEADER that is why the redhead joins his second expedition into the Lesser Megalopolis. The presence of Saki Shitachi, however, is not something he would expect the second time around.

"You're not gonna take flight midbattle again, are you?" He teases her as he leads the way for the group, the dim glow from his portable light illuminates the pathway. After their first scuffle at the alien city, he has learned to use a subtler glitter to not attract any attention from roaming Megalopolans.

Thank Arceus that he does not, for them, for they might not be prepared for what they are about to see.

"Fucking Arceus."

The Megalopolans in this part of town are now rancid-smelling corpses, carcasses decorating the lifeless streets as their bodies are overwhelmed with BLACK CRYSTALLINE material. A closer inspection reveals the nature of which are almost similar, if not the same, to the ones he thought he remembered... from somewhere, he tries to recall.

"Can you see this?" Sergei calls Remiel Calcifet and Saki Shitachi, urging them closer to one of the bodies whose face is now unrecognizable being dominated by crystals.

"They were more 'lively' before." The redhead jokes as he tries to grab a sample of the metal for his future study. "What do you think happened here?"

Having found them at the entrance (and begrudgingly accepted to lead them inside again), Remiel Calcifet is at least satisfied to see that they return to LESSER MEGALOPOLIS better prepared than before. Their curiosity, too, has only spiked since their first venture into this dark territory. There are dangers that remain unknown to them and even the LEAGUE lurking in the shadows within, however. Of that much the exiled prince is certain.

The infrared lights from his IRON VALIANT's eyes help illuminate the path forward as they march on. Remiel can't be certain if the MEGALOPOLANS can see infrared or not, but that's part of the reason it is being used: to find out. As far as he can tell, however, they cannot. The large group of them scattered ahead on the streets, in fact, seem dead.

The archaeologist examines the BLACK CRYSTALLINE material with his sharp blue eyes for a moment before slipping on a glove and pulling out a Ziploc bag from his travel pack. "This appears to be NECROZMA material... and it's taken over their bodies like a PARASECT cordyceps fungus possesses its host. Now they're spent."

Suddenly, a strange noise nearby.

Remiel pauses to try and discern the source of it with his eyes but sees nothing. Then, quickly and quietly, he stuffs his sample away before signaling for the other two to follow him. "We should move. Something is nearby. MALENIA, SHADOW SNEAK." He commands, prompting the Iron Valiant's QUARK DRIVE to whir to life as she summons the shadows to conceal their movement into an alleyway nearby.

Yakumo - Saki - laughed happily at Sergei's comment. "Now how could I ever imagine doing something like that?" Gone completely was the serious, ruthless attitude from before; this time she was her seemingly-usual carefree self. The other two may have prepared for this endeavour, but Saki's preparations were all internal. She'd thought about how last time had unfolded, she'd considered what her plans and strategies could be, and now that she'd done that, there was nothing more to worry about. Having a few extra Pokemon in her belt was a comfort too, although the new additions were hardly ready for intense battle.

"Oh, wow." She pinched her nose and walked over, giving one of the Megalopolans a couple of kicks. "So we won't have to worry about these guys, huh? There might be more elsewhere that aren't like this, though." She crouched down low, casually scrutinising the metallic growths. "I think I've seen this stuff before a few times... I don't know much, but I think it's dangerous. Although you could probably tell that just looking at the blue people." In spite of her ditzy demeanour, she still had enough sense to not name Necrozma. When Remiel did so regardless, she whispered the name under her breath, as if in awe.

No time to talk about that though, it seemed. Saki scurried along in stealth, imagining herself as Koga or Janine. If only she'd worn her kimono. Then again, she didn't have any of the training necessary to really make that work. Though she tucked herself behind the buildings to hide, Saki peeked out at the street they'd just been in. This was dangerous territory, but they weren't in so much danger that she couldn't sate her curiosity... no, wait, instead of that, she was scouting out the situation to assess the danger! Just blindly running from any little noise probably wasn't smart, plus, also, it was better to understand what the dangerous thing actually was, first. Whatever was in the area was as sneaky as Malenia though, allowing for only fleeting glances.

"...Some sort of colourful snake Pokemon...? It doesn't seem that big or scary..."

A TINGE OF ANNOYANCE IS PAINTED ON SERGEI'S FACE, his hands tapping out Saki Shitachi's feet from the corpse that she has been kicking for quite some time now. "You know they were once humans, right?"

He momentarily stops, thinking of the possibility that he might be wrong too. After all, seeing them and experiencing what he had experienced the last time, they are definitely more or less than a human.

What Remiel Calcifet says concerns Sergei, however. The memories of Necrozma is still buried at the back of his head: the strange twenty years slowly slipping out of his mind like just a passing moment and yet the experience with the creature which the redhead has never seen before lingers. "Does it mean the Necrozma is actually real? Are there more of it?"

When his party mentions of the strange noise surrounding them and Remiel asks his Iron Valiant to hide their trail, it is only when Sergei realizes that there is indeed a slithering sound. Saki Shitachi suggests a snake, but the ball with colorful magenta and cyan polka dot lights that begin rolling along with them says other wise. As the colors begin to flash aggressively, the redhead gets the sense that it is something dangerous.

"Enigma, cover us!"

"It's real." Remiel gravely responds. "I've seen it for myself. I was there the day—"

Just then, the haunting and familiar sight of kaleidoscopic colors cuts the exiled prince short. Flashbacks to the explosive 2020 SLATEPORT NEW YEAR'S FESTIVAL he'd been a part of freeze him in place. Fire, blood, and the scorched scales of a FLYGON. That was when he'd first taken up the mask of ADMIN FOX. That was when he'd first set eyes upon UB-BURST. And now it seemed to have come back to finish the job.

Thankfully, Malenia's quick computing prompts her to snatch Remiel away with a SHADOW SNEAK moments before the clown head EXPLODES. When the Galarian opens his eyes again, he finds himself in a haze of smoke. And, when that smoke clears enough, he realizes the Iron Valiant has whisked him away into a large alleyway for cover.

Whether or not the others managed to make it here, however, Remiel cannot tell. The haze continues to clear and he calls out to them with worry in his voice: "Sergei?! Saki?! Are you alive?!" But, before they can even respond, the haze dissipates enough to grant him an astonishing sight etched into the alleyway wall. He's rendered speechless.

Even as the rest of the group rejoins him, Remiel quietly steps forward to graze his fingertips along some of the etches and absorb the information therein more closely. "It's almost exactly like the tapestry in that alternate HAMMERLOCKE..." He remarks in a mutter. "Is this... some higher form of NECROZMA?" His heart sank.

How much more powerful could it really get?

Saki tilted her head, innocent and oblivious. "I don't know that at all... do any of us? Even if they were, the human part is long gone. If it ever did exist, it's making friends in the spirit world now." She offered a sweet smile in turn, completely devoid of insincerity or malice. It was just the truth, and a loving truth at that.

As the two conversed about Necrozma, Saki turned between them, listening intently and devoting her full intention. No comment passed her lips, though. There wasn't any time for one, besides.

The sudden explosion caught Saki as off guard as it did Remiel, disorienting the lackadaisical girl. She looked around in a panic, the very picture of a helpless civilian, even as she fumbled for a Pokeball and sent out her Annihilape. Though the offending creature was now missing its head, its technicolour body offered zero camouflage as it teasingly slithered away after its little prank. Not a single command needed to pass Saki's lips, nor did the beast even need process the situation. Touka charged into action immediately, leaping at the retreating Blacephalon with Pursuit and proceeding to brutalise it, repeatedly smashing it into the pavement below.

This was typical behaviour for such a monstrous Pokemon species, of course. A completely expected outcome, that in no way reflected on its perfectly innocent trainer.

Saki coughed a few times and waved her hand to clear the smoke in front of her. "...We should regroup, quickly!" She briefly gave Sergei a calm yet somewhat urgent look, but didn't wait long before running off towards Remiel's voice. Touka grudgingly followed. "That was loud, it could attract more of them, or something else!"

Fortunately, Malenia hadn't teleported to the other side of the city, so it wasn't a long jog before they reunited. Saki's gaze turned to the twisted, deranged mural of Necrozma's evolution, or so Remiel implied. All thoughts of potential pursuers vanished from her mind. Her mouth fell slightly open, not just to catch her breath, and her eyes lit up like fireworks, even more brilliant than a Blacephalon's display.
