Regardless, it is a dark city with intermittent sections of flickering, artificial light... Large, black prism-like skyscrapers loom above flat black streets. Much ruin has fallen here, but you get the sense that you're not alone...

Thanks to their alliance with Team Rocket, Dorian was all too familiar with the Megalopolans. However, this was the first time that the Mad Dog had been on their turf. The sight of the Megalopolan City was a breathtaking one for sure. Though as much as he wanted to take in the sights, he knew they had business to be done in the city.

"Keep your eyes peeled, and move with caution.", he'd tell the others. Though more specifically, the warning was meant for Harper, who Dorian was protective over, given her age. He knew what Ryker was capable of, and knew that he was better at exercising caution than he was.

A cyclone of darkness could be spotted in the distance, knocking out the artificial lights in the city, and heading straight for them.

This place was strange. He had never been to a place like this. And he hadn’t been with Rocket long enough to be familiar with this type of place. Of course no one would know any of this from looking at him. His expression gave nothing away as he took in their surroundings.

It would be Dorian’s voice that would draw his attention away from looking for possible threats. His gaze flickered momentarily to the teen that was with them before sliding back over to his friend. ”I practice caution when I can,” he said movement from his peripheral vision catching his attention.

His hand was already on the hilt of one of the swords that was on his person as he turned towards what had grabbed his attention. His sharp gaze immediately took in the cyclone of darkness in the distance headed their way. Considering the type of danger it was his hand fell away from the hilt of his sword. A sword would really do him any good against something like that.

It was weird seeing Daddy’s face like that. His amber eyes were soft, filled with concern. He pointed at the printout for the hundredth time and then all the rules. Most of it was super-duper obvious stuff: no wandering off with strangers, no being obnoxious, and no wandering off. A few odd rules were in the middle though. One underlined about putting out any flashlights.

Then, of course, came the image of the whatchamacallit she’d been sent to collect. It looked like a gem. Apparently, it gave off weird readings that the eggheads in research wanted to take a look at. A location was sent to her phone. And, depending on who she snuck out with, she’d have to break RULE 3 to nab it. But that stuff was all BS anyway. It just stopped people from suing or whatever.

A wave was given to the two old guys she’d found herself saddled with. Stretches began as she prepared herself for a jump into a weird place. She didn’t really get what alternate dimensions were or where they came from. A Castform bobbed around her head, straightening her clothes with little bursts of air. At her heels, a Tinkaton stood with its hammer poised to strike.

As the portal opened before them, Harper jumped through it without hesitation. There was a sensation of falling and then a murky, almost sea-floor-like darkness. Big red eyes examined the area around them, growing wider with each heartbeat. “Whoa.” A clumsy whistle emerged—she’d never been good at them. The whole place was trashed. It reminded her of the time she had to rob a frat guy.

The advice for caution was met with a flippant grin. “Yeah, yeah! I know. I’ve already heard that like 37 times today. I’m a kid, not stupid.”

But this bravado evaporated as she spotted the undulating, twisting thing moving toward them. “What—?” Bright eyes widened as she saw the twisting, undulating thing moving toward him. Her voice dropped to a whisper as she moved closer to Dorian. It was as if she was a toddler expecting a game of peekaboo to banish a tornado. Her heart pounded as she glanced at her Castform. “I don’t think we can—” The buildings on either side started to rattle, lights snuffing out one by one.

“Moo!” She grabbed onto Dorian’s sleeve. The little weather ball frowned as he floated in front of her. A Hurricane was tossed at the thing in hopes of reversing it or slowing it down. Maybe it’d buy them enough time to—to—there.

Among the rubble, she spotted a half-open doorway. The old, half-dead phone in her pocket began to flicker. "C'mon!"

It didn't take long for the other two to spot the oncoming cyclone of darkness coming their way. As the two reacted, Dorian hurriedly looked for any sort of shelter they could take, in order to survive it. He didn't know what it'd do to them, nor did he intend to find out.

Thankfully, Harper's Castform found an open building. "Let's move!", Dorian called out to the other two, his first priority being the safety of Harper. Even if the girl could handle herself, it was in Dorian's nature to keep the kids safe.

Dorian would send his Houndoom to take point, entering the building first, before Dorian would help the other three in. If there was any danger within, Bony Buddy would be able to handle it first.

His own gaze flickered around. Looking for a place that they could use to to escape the vortex. However he wasn’t the one that noticed. That honor would have to go to Harper’s Castform. He waved the others ahead of him taking the rear as they ran towards the building.

Dorian who had taken point would check out the building. And would allow them entry in everything was okay. Though of course if Dorian came across any dangers who would make his way inside. He knew the kind of person his friend was. And it would land on him to get him out of a sticky situation if he landed himself in one.

They couldn’t take too long though and he would slip inside the building. Though not use to keeping an eye on children he would make sure to keep an eye on the young teen. Dorian seemed worried about her do the least he could do was make sure she remained safe.

In case that’s the case we should leave the outside door open in case we can’t find another way out,” he said once they had all gotten inside. He was aware his friend had checked the perimeter a bit but he wouldn’t have had long enough to check it fully. As the cyclone closed in, Harper couldn’t resist throwing a glance its way. The grip on her Castform grew tighter as the maelstrom threatened to rip him away. Hundreds of feet shrank into a few handful of yards. Rocks and rubble disappeared into the thing’s hungry maw. But she couldn’t stare at it for long. Just looking at it hurt her eyes. It was like black but waaaaay darker. Even when she squinted—feet planted on the building’s stoop—she couldn’t see through it.

A black flash made her head snap back to their destination. Her eyes—watering—focused just in time to “Hey!” Harper took a step back as the puppy raced in. With little regard for the adults, she barged in right after him. “You coulda said excuse me, yanno?” Leaving the door ajar—as the weirdo asked—Harper moved deeper inside the building. The dim light from the ajar door helped enhance the glow coming off her now Sunny Form Castform.

What the heck is this place? It feels like a prison. Harper looked at a row of metal boxes. They looked like they’d been mauled by something nasty. She reached out to pull a flyer off one of them. Her head jerked up as something clattered further down. “You know—” Her mind turned briefly to the classrooms her foster parents had thrown her into. How stupid she felt trying to figure out numbers and letters from a base three or four years below her grade level. The eThe teenager fell back as the sound repeated itself. “I might hate school, but I’ve never seen one this bad.”

Eager to protect his trainer—and perhaps hoping to prove he was more than a babysitter—Cumoo drifted toward the strange clanking noise.

As the trio explored the building, Dorian quickly came to the conclusion that it was a school. Despite the differences between the Humans and Megalopolans, some things remained a constant.

And boy, did Dorian despise school. Sitting around in a classroom, to be lectured by some out of touch adult was insufferable. It only fueled Dorian's desire to sneak out of the orphanage when he could. The scenes of gang violence he would watch from the shadows provided him ample entertainment after such dull days.

The sounds of clanking caught the Mad Dog's attention, as well as that of his Houndoom.

Dorian would signal to Harper to get back, while signaling to Ryker to get in position.

A Megalopolan would barge in through the door, clearly in a feral, berserk state. The zombie-like alien would immediately charge the Houndoom, the first living thing they saw.

As Harper mentioned that it was a school he couldn’t help but be a bit curious. School was something he never attended himself. His mentor had never put him in a school and instead had just taught him the basics. Of course that was probably because he had wanted to mostly focus on his assassin training.

Hate wasn’t a concept he did to well. He didn’t have the emotional capacity to truly hate. He didn’t hate any of the his targets. It hadn’t been anything personal, just business. That’s the way he viewed things anyway.

He saw no point in bringing up the fact he had never attended school so he stayed quiet. Seemed Dorian was doing the same thing. Though he doubted it was for the same reasons.

Clanking could be heard and amber eyes flickered around as he tried to pinpoint the sound. It didn’t take long for him to do that and he was around moving into position before Dorian had indicated for him to. Falling into a stance he withdrew his swords and waited.

The waited wasn’t something that took to long and his eyes narrowed as a type of being barged into the room. It immediately went on attack going for the Houndoom and Ryker immediately acted. Knowing the Houndoom would be able to protect himself with his fire he took the chance to slip behind the alien making sure to stay quiet.

Keeping one sword in a defense position, in case more of the aliens barged through the door, he used the other sword to stab the alien through the back and through the chest. Wanting to just kill it before it could hurt any of them.[break] dorian westcliff, Harper Mann

The creature burst out of the hallway with a guttural, hungry noise. CRASH! The door opened with enough force that it smashed into the lockers. A metallic noise reverberated down the hallway. Red eyes caught the Megalopan’s for a moment, a shiver running down Harper’s back. “Mr. Dorian, what’s wrong with him? Why’s he going after your—”

A frightened squeak emerged as its bluish ichor sprayed across the tiles. The thing clawed mindlessly at the hole in his chest. With a hiss, it slumped forward. Sluggishly, blood dripped beneath it. A noise—somewhere between a gasp and a scream tumbled out. With a surprising burst of speed, the teenager took off down a nearby hallway. “CAS!” Cumoo followed with a look of panic.

The sound of the confrontation had apparently woken more than one Megalopan. A fact soon confirmed as another handful staggered out a doorway in front of her. “Shit!” Harper slid to a stop right in front of them. Her heart pounded. A glance over her shoulder revealed another group of hungry Megalopans. Suddenly, their blue skin didn't seem so funny anymore.

“Hey—uh—” She tried to forget the dead man’s expression. The mon slid forward. “--ya guys wanna see a card trick?” Her heart pounded as Cumoo began to glow red hot.

Dorian would attempt to shush the teenager. He didn't want her to get the attention of the Megalopolan. As he did this, he put himself between the hostile alien, and the teenager, in an effort to protect her, should the worst happen.

After all, he'd rather it be him that got mauled, than either his friend, or the kid in their company. He didn't want a repeat of what happened in that village near Viridian all those years ago.

The Houndoom barked, getting into stance in order to get the maddened Megalopolan's attention. As it swung at him, the Houndoom deftly leaped to the side, causing the the Megalopolan's lunge to miss. This would allow for Ryker to stab the maddened alien in the chest, and put him out of his misery.

Dorian would notice as Harper burst out of the room in a panic.

"Kid!", Dorian called out.

"Bony, watch Ryker's back!", Dorian told the Houndoom, before running after the girl.

As Ryker would know, Dorian was not the type to stop to think, or hesitate. Back in Orre, it was a do or die type of environment. Stopping for one moment meant certain death. Those who hesitated during that last ambush in Gaeton Port were the first to die.

With someone he considered a kid being involved, the stakes were dangerously high to the Mad Dog. Her life mattered far more than his own.

Hesitation in that village near Viridian City prevented him from reaching a group of children in a timely manner. Had he not hesitated that day, he could've cleared a path to rescue those kids. If he had managed to do that, would John Sullivan still despise him as he did?

By the time the Orrean caught up to the thief, she was cornered by a group of Megalopolan Zombies. As she attempted to distract them with a card trick, he noticed her Castform taking on a glow. Thinking quickly, the Mad Dog brought out his Charizard, and quickly pressed down on the Key Stone on his Ring.

The Charizard would be enveloped in a sphere of energy, before emerging in a new form. Light would begin to do what it could to flood the area. Enough that the Castform could transform into its Sunny form, potentially aiding it in its attack.

The megalopolan went limp falling to the ground dead. His impression remained impassive throughout the whole ordeal, but he did take his gaze off of the still form of the megalopolan when Harper tore out of the room. He blinked after her wondering if they should go after her. After all there might be more of these things hanging around.

Before he could decide the decision was made for him. He watched his friend run after the kid, his gaze momentarily flickering to the Houndoom. As a canine Pokémon he figured he would hear if anything dangerous came this way, so he lowered his swords until their tips rested against the ground. But he didn’t completely relax, still keeping his guard up. After all he couldn’t allow himself to be caught off guard.

Just waiting made him antsy. But if there was anything he had know since meeting Dorian was that he could take care of himself. But it was the way that he sometimes went about doing that that made him want to track the two down and go on the attack. But sometimes he knew it was best to hang back. With the way the building was set up to many people attacking would just lead to them all getting under each others feet. So he supposed it was best if he let Dorian deal with protecting her if he had to.

Thoughts of them running into more of the megalopolans made him think that they might need another escape route. So maybe it was best if he made himself useful and look for one. First things first was to make sure there wasn’t a way to escape from the building from the room he was in. The windows were a no go looking like the were rusted shut or something. And after scanning the room he could see that the room would provide no way of escape.

During his whole search he kept one eye on the door. Either for Dorian and Harper to come back, or more megalopolans to come through. The latter didn’t happen thankfully but neither did the former. And he wondered if he should go to their aid after all or continue looking for a way out. Since trying to get out the way they had come in didn’t seem like the best idea.

Going through the open door he looked up and down the hall but didn’t see anything. He did hear sounds from one direction though. Probably more of those things and possibly the direction Dorian and Harper went in.[break] dorian westcliff, Harper Mann

Normally, Harper enjoyed card tricks. They were something she could use her sticky fingers for that didn’t result in some butthole screaming at her. This time, though, her fingers shook. All the faded, sightless eyes turned on her as the cards shuffled into a blur. With slow confusion, they watched as the things shuffled.

Hearing Dorian racing up behind her, the thief stiffened. She swallowed down her nerves. With a grunt, she threw the deck at the Megalopans. Thinking it was food, a few of them lunged for them. Looking back at Dorian for approval, she grinned. Tears still ran down her face. “It’s called 52 pick-up.” Not really a magic trick, but a distraction. Which, at the end of the day, was all magic was about.

Confused and hungry, a few of the Megalopans began to grab at the cards. They stuffed them in their mouth, dirty black saliva rolling down their fronts as they sucked at the cardboard. As one swiped at her, Harper dropped gracefully to her belly. “Moo! Fireblast!” With a look of determination, the Castform unleashed fire upon the undead. As it hit the cards, they flashed bright white.

Gurgling intensified as the creatures began to fight over the brief light. Each desperate for just a touch of relief in this unending darkness. Screeching as the fire caught, they fell to the ground.

With a shaky breath, the pinkette scrambled to reunite with Dorian. In the hallway opposite, she caught sight of Ryker walking past. Trying to ignore the smell of burning flesh, the thief moved to tug the older man in that direction.

The Mad Dog grinned as the girl's trick paid off. He would allow the girl to get ahead of him, using his body as a shield, should any pursuing Megalopolans try to come after them. He would spot Ryker, and race to meet the man in the middle.

"Let's get out of here!", Dorian called out, before having his Mega Charizard blast a hole through the wall with a Dragon Pulse.

"Get on! And hang on tight!", Dorian told the other two, prioritizing getting Harper up on the Mega Evolved Lizard first, before he and Ryker would climb on.

The Mega Charizard would dash through the newly formed hole in the wall, to the outside world. Once outside, the Charizard would take to the skies, before the pursuing horde of Megalopolan Zombies could catch up to them. "Up that skyscraper!", Dorian ordered.

The Charizard would waste no time in flying up the Skyscraper, her capability for flight allowing the group to handily outpace the landbound Megalopolans, who would try and fail to climb up the surface of the skyscraper. Though they would eventually get in, and attempt to scale it from the inside, Dorian was confident that this would buy them the time they needed to escape the realm.

Once at the top, the Charizard would land.

"Is everyone alright?", Dorian asked, giving them a moment to catch their breath.
