Gunner Graves 's laughter is something that she suddenly realizes she's missed - even if no memory of it is forthcoming. It sinks into her bones with a familiarity beyond rationality.

(Not that Skyler has ever been that good at the latter.)

"You don't know, Bond." Skyler reaches for an arancini, popping it into her mouth with a satisfied hum. There's something altogether too smug about the twitch of her lips. "I've been told I'm an excellent bad influence. Who knows, maybe Summer's into new stuff now." The Galar version, at least.

All that smugness dies a humilliating death at his next suggestion. The arancini she'd been eating gets stuck halfway down her throat and it takes nearly half a can of beer, and a bout of couhging, for it to finally go down.

"Uh, yeah-" The thought of parker jones alongside Gunner Graves and GIDEON GRAVES grinds her brain to a halt. It seems fitting and wrong, at the same time. The dichotomy nearly gives her a headache. "Maybe, if I stumble upon her again."

Chances are, they'd keep a distance from each other in the foreseeable future.

"D'you remember anyone else?"

Gunner's eyebrows rose into his head at the halting way Skyler agreed to his suggestion, but he decided not to comment on it. Whether she invited this person she knew to the big meet-up—and if it happened in the first place—was entirely up to her.[break][break]

He shook his head. "There were other people, but I can't seem to remember anything about them. No names, no faces. Not even any quirks of their personalities or things they liked."[break][break]

"Not with clarity. I remember snow. Lots of it. And this huge ice structure." Now that she wasn't in danger of choking to death via her husband's arancini, Skyler lounges back against the couch. "There's flashes here and there, but I can't for the life of me figure out what triggers them. Some people, I s'ppose."

Strangely familiar faces. "I know there were more of us in there, but the details are fuzzy." The only reason why she remembered the two pink-haired women was because she actually knew one of them from Hoenn.

"And then there's other things. Muscle memory. I walked past Fortree's renfaire the other day and actually hit the target with a hand axe." A pause, mostly for dramatic effect. "D'you know how many people I nearly decapitated with those things? Accidentally, of course," she quickly adds, remembering he's, well, an agent of the law.

"It's like my body remembers what my mind has forgotten." Fingers dive into her wild mane of hair, frustrated. "Has it happened to you?"

Gunner nodded along at Skyler's descriptions. Each one evoked a mental image, too familiar to be fantasy, yet too disjointed to form a complete picture. The sensation reminded Gunner of holding too many things in his hands.[break][break]

But his brow furrowed at the mention of her newfound skill. "No, sorry, nothing like that's happened to me yet. Though I also haven't been to Fortree's festivals or tried throwing axes."[break][break]

He'd finished his beer and the arancini dish was getting low. Perhaps he'd overstayed his welcome. Gunner stood, prompting Laudine to rise from where she rested.[break][break]

"I should get going, but it was good seeing you, Skyler. If you remember anything more, let me know."[break][break]

Should he hug her in farewell? He should hug her. It felt right.

"Don't be a stranger, Bond." Skyler claps Gunner Graves on the shoulder as they step out onto the sun-warmed deck. The last of the arancini had been left to a hungry Dorado, who doubtlessly was feasting in their absense. She wouldn't tell Angelo if Gunner didn't.

"Maybe you should consider giving the ren-faire a try. Sure jogged my memory a couple of times. And I'll talk to Angelo about that dinner."

With time, the distant fog of memory would be relocated to a corner of her mind, not forgotten but rather put aside to make space for more pressing concerns.

Skyler holds onto the new connections like she does her Hoenn ones: selfishly, with an almost possessive sort of protectiveness.

"Try not to get into too much trouble." Her lopsided grin is a flash of mischief, meant to poke at his law-abiding persona. "But if you ever do, give me a call so I can join in."

Be careful.

And she disappears back into the innards of the ship with a short salute, gold haloing her wild mass of hair before she's gone.
