Johanna waited in anticipation. For the signal. Eagerly her body tensed as the opening act-jester riled the crowd with words of exaggeration about both the opponent and Johanna herself, before moving onto explaining what made today's challenge special.

Lam Logan had the honor of being the first official contestant to take this particular challenge.

Honestly, Johanna was a bit nervous. But as the Announcer-Jester gave the signal for her to enter the Arena adorned in her costume, she hid all the tension behind a facade of jovial joy. She greeted the audience with waves directed at as many as she possibly could. Before she turned to her opponent and said.

“I hope you are ready, because I sure am. So let’s have some fun!”

As soon as she found her position two Pokémon would be summoned to the field, first, a Dragapult. The Ghastly dragon greeted the audience with a wave and a friendly roar. Before it’s teammate, a Tinkaton, came in waving its huge hammer in greeting.

And with them on the field the field mechanics would begin. The screens meant to give the audience further away a better view turned into a roulette display with all the Pokemon types.

Bright neon text displaying ‘TYPE TYPE REVOLUTION’ alongside Johanna’s name. The wheel began to spin, quicker and quicker until it began to slow down once more. The arrow at the top pointing to the chosen type. It repeated this process until a type for each Pokémon had been chosen.

First type was... Fairy. Which surprised Johanna a bit, not that she minded. When the Machine decided to assign the type to Tinkaton, she found some relief in knowing she would at least have STAB power behind some of its attack. Which couldn't be said for the next type. Dragapult was granted the Rock Type. A typing of which it had no moves.

And so she turned her attention to the opponent and their Pokémon to see which types they were granted.

Well this is going to be uphill, huh? Johanna pondered as she saw the type granted to her opponent.

“Ruby pressure them, Ethan keep your distance and focus on the Flamigo.”

Those were all the verbal commands given before her Pokémon jumped into action.

The Dragapult rose high into the air as crackling electricity danced over its body for a short moment before it was fired off as a THUNDERBOLT toward the now fire-type Flamigo.

Meanwhile the Tinkaton charged in, hammer in tow ready to give a beating to her choice of opponent. And her choice was the Alteria. She’d even jump if necessary to hit the sure to be flying Pokemon with her GIGATON HAMMER

Johanna saw half-measured success from both of her fighters.

Dragapult’s attack did not seem to hit. But from what she noted the dodging caused enough commotion in their formation to allow Tinkaton to land a hit driving Altaria to the ground, but it did not manage to pin it there.

“Well done both of you! Keep it up.” She encouraged both Pokemon.

And both Pokemon would do their best to do so.

Tinkaton used her hammer to divert the Moonbeam, still stray rays of fairy power graced her body causing discomfort but little else. Still, she knew better than to take more of those. Still, the Moonbeam had afforded Altaria to take to the air out of its reach. There was only one thing to do.

Tinkaton’s grip tightened around the shaft of its hammer, it readied its feet with a wide stance and began to lift her heavy weapon in a swinging motion and for a moment she would swing a few rounds before letting the hammer fly in an impromptu ranged BRUTAL SWING.

Meanwhile Dragapult would not stay still. It would dart about in the air, trying to make it as hard to get close as possible as it fired THUNDERBOLT after THUNDERBOLT at its opponent. Though it would be clear as day to anyone paying attention that each bolt came slower than the last.

Johanna gave Lam a wide smile, taking in the compliment as well as she possibly could. “Thank you!”

But back to the battle!

With no weapon in hand Tinkaton was defenseless. Admittedly the Hammer would’ve offered little protection against the Disarming voice. Tinkaton tried to dodge, but the assault on its ears passed what little defense she had. Hands quickly flew to her ears trying to protect herself, but by then it was too late. The majority of the damage had been done.

Disoriented the Tinkaton followed the sound and earthly tremble to where her hammer fell upon the stadium. It ran over there as quickly as it could, unfortunately doing so afforded it not a moment to use any attacks against the enemy.

Speaking of moving around.

Dragapult was darting around as much as he could. But he was growing slower. And unfortunately that meant he was getting slow enough for the Flamigo to get close. And that’s what happened after the bird took the brunt of one of many thunderbolts.

Dragapults eyes went wide as he felt the force of the throat chop. It was painful, disorienting even. But it didn’t prevent Dragapult from trying to latch onto the Flamigo in an impromptu DRAGON RUSH to the ground.

The powerful winds of the SPRINGTIDE STORM latched onto Tinkaton. It tried to hold onto the ground, but found itself unable to do so and was blown away into the protective barriers surrounding the battlefield.

Tinkaton fell to the ground, knocked out.

Meanwhile Dragapult wasn’t faring much better. While the Dragon Rush succeeded in bringing the Flamigo onto the ground. But that is where the success ended. A Low Kick managed to strike true at its belly. The powerful kicking sent the dragon away, skidding against the ground for a moment before it fell unconscious.

Johanna found herself surprised, before she retrieved the two Pokemon back into their Pokéballs.

Still, though she was defeated she still wore a smile on her face and with beaming eyes did she look to Lam to see if he shared in her excitement. “Congratulations! It seems you’ve won!” She would approach him, hand extended as she offered him the badge.
