"Eh?" The past is something that hardly exists in the dog's mind. Racking his brain, he tries to think back. Pulling on his memory, he remembers...[break]
He's young. Too young. Twisting his blade in someone's gut. He remembers seeing the knife glisten crimson. He remembers feeling nothing.[break]
"I was hungry and he had food." It's a bad explanation. It leaves out all the details that make him righteous for his deed.[break]
"Can't remember how old I was. You?"

"It's good when you find yer callin'." He can agree with this man on that much. It wasn't murder that was his calling. Murder is a mean. Death is a love language. His calling is servitude and obedience. "Pipe to the brain's messy." He says, not judgmentally. He's talking shop. Death is also a trade. They ply it, although he does not ply it for sport.[break][break]
"Blunt force in general takes a bit. It's why I like swords n' knives. Pierce right through. Cuts the nerves and veins. Way less messy." There is no sentiment, lust, or attachment to the words. He's no different from a woodcarver describing the best way to finish off a carving.[break][break]
"Who d'you kill for?" A strange question, but he has only ever killed on his own initiative twice.[break]
Somewhere in the distance, his Kartana spies something that turns its eyes upon them. It swiftly defeats this lesser creature. Later, it will be dragged back and secured by a pokeball.

There's no sentiment, warmth, or hatred in him when he talks about killing. What artisan talks about his trade with hatred?[break]
Kartana, close by, spies a dog. Ironic, a dog's blade should spy another dog. Kusanagi flies and knocks the dog out with one blow. Ultra beasts are monsters unto themselves. As it falls, Kartana snatches a pokeball from Hitoshi while he talks and tries to catch the thing.[break]
"Say," the dog says, idly curious, "what's the deal with bein' a beast? You were one once, yeah?"

One seemed way stronger than the other." Strength is, of course, subjective. Hitoshi smelled strength on the one he calls frosty, even if it's not as overt as the dark-haired man's strength.[break]

Kusanagi darts around an errant Bisharp off across the field. It howls in frustration, its Pawniards raising their claws to cheer him on. Before a beast of the ultra wilds, it falls like so many other failed blades. Another pokeball is returned to Hitoshi shaking.

Somewhere in the distance, another battle rages. Kusanagi soars, testing its edge against all takers. Here, now, that taker is a massive sheep. It's cut down. It, too, is slipped into a pokeball. Another is deposited at the black dog's feet while the two walk. Just pleasant conversation fodder, really. Hitoshi doesn't even know what he's going to do with all these Pokemon.
